  1. Have we ever not backed them ? The loyalty and away followings have been excellent. Great atmosphere pre-Lincoln and for a Tuesday night, and no away fans the Fleetwood atmosphere was good too. Yes there's been boos but after what we've had to watch that's to be expected. I'd say the support has always been there other than the moronic booing of Loft and Massey which beggar's belief .

  2. Don't worry. Flitcroft always worked "three windows in advance". So we'll have loads of players lined up...

  3. What a terrible season its been on and off the pitch. But somehow after yesterdays win we are in with a sniff of pulling off a miracle the only way i think we can get ourselves out of this is if we pack the park. Our last home games are all winnable and i think if we were to win them wed stay up. Id like the club to offer cheaper tickets to get bums on seats. Its the start of a new dawn flitcroft is gone although left in position far to long weve all finally got our wishes. Bring family/mates along lets do our bit to push the lads on . They showed fight and passion yesterday lets get vale park rocking for the first time since the hamil switch. I truly believe if we do it can give the players that extra bit in terms of belief to try and get us over the line. we have been fantastic this season considering what weve been put through this season but now is the time to put that all to bed and create some noise in the right way. We are all vale. We all want league one next year. Lets help achieve this.

  4. Would he really? I’m sure if he’s on the edge of the area and hits it in exactly the same way then it would have gone out the ground. I prefer to give him credit that like any pro player he would adjust a strike to accommodate the different angles in play. Can’t help wondering that if Ben Garrity scores that goal then there’d be no debate.

  5. If we replicate yesterdays performance, we have every chance in picking up maximum points. I don’t know what kind of stranglehold that Flitcroft had over all of this. Date I say he was way too involved in picking the team. But it seemed yesterday that the players were playing with freedom and belief. And that energy goes over to the fans as well. Now let’s follow it up.

  6. Took exactly 1 reply for a positive post to be turned negative. 'Vale fans always turn up' and are miserable bastards immediately...

  7. Got to disagree with you there, their number 4 was steaming in to block the shot, if Lofty didn't lift it no 4 blocks it. Match Highlights | Burton Albion 0-1 Port Vale | News | Port Vale WWW.PORT-VALE.CO.UK

  8. Just bought my ticket. Could do with Barnsley beating Cambridge, us beating The Gas, Wigan stuffing Burton, Peterborough beating Carlisle and Cheltenham-Fleetwood drawing. If we put in another good shift and work hard for each other, I dont care if Loft scores a hat trick where they all go in off his arse - and we get the results above it will start to make others very nervous.

  9. I would snap your hand off for a chance to take it to the Cambridge game !!

  10. When the goal went in, Ripley sprinted straight over to the bench to celebrate, there was definitely a different energy about the team, it was obvious that the result meant something, after the Oxford game I'd as good as given up, yesterday has given me hope, lets get to the last game with something to play for...........

  13. If a DOF will help with the football infrastructure within the club, and stay help with scouting then I am all for having one. DM should have the final say on signings, tactics, and formations. Martin Foyle was in his early managerial career when he was at Vale. Maybe he has more knowledge now and could work.

  14. It doesn’t bother me either way about Foyle, but I think it’s a daft question to ask about what gems he’s unearthed to justify him now being right for us. Because how would anyone know what gems he’s unearthed when no one is following the clubs he’s worked for? All people are seeing is that he’s been working in the game at that role for the last 10 years or so, on the face of it thats a lot of experience working as a head of recruitment. Also it’s not just necessarily about unearthing gems, it’s also about having the right contacts, building teams by bringing in the right type of players for them.

  15. Agree, they seemed to be fighting and wanting to win the ball all over the pitch. I am hoping the last game we have nothing to play for, as we are already mathematically safe and secured Div 1 safety. But this is Vale after all, so last game, no nails, fingers or arms by the final whistle then. Come on Vale, you have given the fans a glimpse you are up for the fight now. We are behind you - virtually kicking the ball out of defence, midfield and into the goal (hopefully on target 🤪).

  16. while i agree with most of what you say. the simple fact is we deserve to be where we are and thats mainly down to us having cheap option players. you ever heard the phrase you pay peanuts ? vale fans will always turn up. its down to the worst vale squad ive ever seen to turn this around now.

  17. Loft will be oozing in confidence. Go get em Ryan!

  18. I didn't go the game but listened on the radio. Having previously given Lofty stick was really chuffed he scored and put a shift in too. Having now watched the goal I thought criticism of Loftys through on goal effort was a bit harsh. It was a reasonable effort just missing , not a row Z or hits the corner flag attempt. Really hope he gets confidence from his goal and now has a run of goals to the end of the season. Facing his old club on Friday must be a massive incentive .

  19. Pv1973, the released list will be very short as the majority are under contract for another twelve months, I can’t see us having the money to pay up their contracts. None of them have covered themselves in any glory this season so I can’t see us being able to sell them. As I said previously, I think we’ll need to strengthen even if relegated, so the best thing would be to try and get some of these lay abouts out on loan.

  20. Looking at Bristol Rover's form they haven't scored in the last 3 games and conceded 8. So we mustn't help them out with one of our free gifts. They drew 0-0 at Fleetwood but lost 5-0 at Lincoln. I will discount losing 3-0 at home to Derby because they are a much bigger club as we have found. But I feel Bristol have done what we should have been doing overall which is chug away winning and losing and reach safe mid table. They aren't going to get promoted or relegated and we should have more fire in our bellies. But we must respect they are capable of beating us if we do reckless stuff at both ends of the pitch, so I'm hoping Darren Moore can bring his experience to produce a telling balanced performance that sees us win by a couple of goals without conceding. I don't mind if the second comes in the 93rd minute from a breakaway after Bristol put all 11 men in our box trying to score from their 15th corner. Ryan Loft surely fancies a goal against his former club and should be steaming round the pitch etc.

  21. Martin Foyle was a star as a player and is a star as a person, a genuine Vale legend who is always welcome at the club. But the suggestion that "Martin Foyle would be a good head of recruitment" either wasn't around for the 2007-2008 season or has wiped it from their memory. Sorry to make people relive the pain, but have a read about the recruitment for that season ... 2007–08 Port Vale F.C. season - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG

  23. I’d suggest whoever will be looking into recruitment for next season needs to be in place soon if we are to be approaching targets once this season ends in May.

  24. Nothing to play for v Cambridge?? At the BEST we will need a win, maybe by more than one goal v Cambridge to stay up IMO..... I'd settle for that one right now.....

  25. Not really qualified to answer whether we need a DoF as such, because I’m not sure how important the role is at this stage. A lot of the good stuff going on behind the scenes is now set up. I realise it needs to be managed, but couldn’t that be part of the CEOs job? We certainly need to focus on recruitment, and invest in that area, and possibly funds for that could partly be generated by NOT replacing the DoF. Good recruitment now will be so beneficial to the young squad, and would help to get the most out of their potential.

  26. Brian, unfortunately I'm not sure that is the case. I do believe that some on here would be more than happy sitting on a plane, being flown by the ground crew manager, providing his name was Kirk.

  27. Thats what was so pleasing to see.The fight from the whole team was there. Has been missing big style for many weeks. Hard to single out anyone but Smith and Loft were teriffic. Little bit of confidence now, first for a long time. A win on Friday would be fantastic for us fans. Just think what it would do for the players...

  30. If this game doesn’t end with a Ryan Loft breakaway and smashing it home in front of the Hamil what are we even doing?? Just got to go according to the DC mantra of one game at a time. Apply the same grit and determination they showed today and we have a shout.

  34. Unfortunately Flitcroft sometimes gets clubs the wrong way out of league 2. He isn't anything like as good as he thinks he is at any level unfortunately.

  35. Signing him, on the back of bringing in Darren, would’ve certainly seen the club supporting their statement regards doing everything they could to maintain our L1 status. Whether he’d have made that much of a difference to our points tally in the last 8/9 games is debatable, unless his presence would’ve also made our defending and ability to create chances much better too. His signing may have just further highlighted how poor Mr Flitcroft’s recruitment had been in other positions across the squad - oh I think Dwight is now out injured at the moment too (so he’d had fitted right in with us 🥴).

  36. It’s a big weekend coming up. If we can get 3 points from the two games I think it will at least keep us in touch. Flitcroft going was huge, i think it will galvanise us and give us a real shot. Saturday was a massive win, burton were dire and won’t pick up many more points and Cambridge are also in free fall. Some very poor sides which we are one of but we do have a chance.

  37. I may be way off the mark but seemed to me on all highlights I've watched is that the dismissal /resignation of flitcroft who I liked to be honest ,gave the players (all im hearing )that new lease of energy commitment there were 3 players trying get ball of that Burton player for winning goal ,was it Massey who won it anyway loft and Chislett ran like the wind it was a fantastic finish and as Will Ferrrel said on the best video I saw of the goal oh my g-d it's Beautiful. Dipepa has scored 3 in 2 Uche who to me is a fine player yes a bit cumbersome when the ball sticks to him it sticks and he surely going slam some noteworthy goals in . Home form been a disgrace for a long time though Good Fri be a good time start a winning sequence going ,at home as that's what sells season tickets not away performances which bar Fleetwood Derby have been ok and generally good at times . Homes being garbage no other way dress it up people don't pay for a away season ticket as me Stoke loving colleagues would love if they did as they all have a great time away at home there a shambles also . So play up Vale and delight your own not once 1 four times required before season ends. UTV

  38. Seems like no-one can answer my very simple question. Another case of wanting to bring back ex-players/managers because they were once popular without any actual substance.

  39. I don't quite understand your 2nd sentence sorry. I m a Loft fan he’s tall and very quick it’s upto vale to get the best out of him… probably a top quartile league 2 forward but bottom quartile league 1 forward … ( bit like us as a club really). He wasn’t t fit when he first started with us he looks sharper now. But I m sure he will admit as well as he played he should have scored when clean through on goal like that.

  40. Knew we’d win yesterday when defending a corner Smudger was on the ground after clearly annoying the f out of their CF. He’s back. The fight is not over. Bit more niggling aggro thing going on and it’ll be right.

  45. Yeah get to as many as I can, disappointed like everyone with the performances over recent games but finally saw some grit and fight yesterday. If the players continue with that effort the fans will respond in kind and generate an atmosphere. Actually looking forward to Good Friday got to get behind the lads from the start as Brizzle will no doubt bring a good following.
