  1. 1 point from 23rd, 21st, and 20th when you’ve been brought in to help avoid relegation is ‘not good’. I expected some degree of impact - nothing major, but just a sign that someone competent was in the dugout. He’ll get time, but this slow start has likely killed our survival hopes and we can’t just pretend these results were inevitable. We should have picked up 4-5 points.

  2. Its hard to judge Moore on this, he has literally nothing to work with... 17 year old youth player and Ryan Loft who's destroyed confidence wise. No wide men or full backs No workable central defensive partnership, (whatever combination we try it doesnt seem to work). No midfield. I will judge him next season when he has his own players in but I doubt even Pep or Klopp could turn this around.

  3. I've seen some bizarre posts but Fleetwood on a par with Middlesbrough is right up there. The reason for the booing and quite rightly was that we were gutless and pathetic in that second half. If you decide to sit back and invite pressure and allow the opposition to have all of the ball and show no ambition to get it back and when you do to try and play the ball forward, you are asking for trouble. Fleetwood will be going down with us, they will get a couple of wins and finish above us but we can have a nice trip to them next season I have no doubt about that.

  4. Just a reminder that since DF went full time which Carol announced 10 games ago we have won 0, drawn 3, and lost 7. Way to go big guy.

  6. Nah. She's got to reap what she sows. She was interviewing for a football manager. Then a football manager told her she should hire him as a DoF. Then he told her to spend a fortune on a campus, T-Zone, scoreboard etc. Then he signed 60+ players over about 3 windows. Then he hired a coach as a manager without interviewing anyone else. Then he refused to rectify the mistake when he clearly wasn't cut out. Then he assembled the weakest, softest group of players we've ever seen. Then he failed to sign a L1 level strikeforce over 3 windows. Then she had the audacity to write a patronising letter telling all the fans why we are all wrong, and that the board were all right. Etc etc. This blind loyalty from Carol is the reason we're in this mess. This relegation is on her. And she needs to get rid of DF, take some of that £180m, and bankroll us back into L1 at the first attempt. The fans do not deserve L2 football again. The fans ALL saw this coming.

  7. I said before Christmas on here we're sleep walking to Div 2 and got sneered at, blue eyed Flickers has got to go, he is single handedly killing our club. Sent from my SM-A217F using onevalefan mobile app

  8. Get this clown out of our club. Today our team consisted of - a midfielder at rwb. A centre half at lwb. A child up front. A right back coming on at centre mid. A winger coming on at centre mid. Brought on a pub player we payed 70k for. Meanwhile, whilst we we are playing wingers and right backs in centre midfield, we sent out an actual central midfield player on loan. His position is untenable.

  9. So far above our level, if Loft hadn't missed his big chance, we'd have been 3-0 up against them. Whereas we never laid a glove on Middlesbrough. Fleetwood have only managed two league wins in three and a half months, one of which was against us, yet they've managed to put five goals past us in 180 minutes. They've also conceded the most goals in League 1 but, rather than trying to further exploit that weakness in the second half, we just sat back, invited them onto us and inevitably capitulated.

  10. Makes some great saves but there’s a lot to his game that’s so bad at times. Overrated for me ripley, there’s a reason he’s going to be relegated for the second consecutive season. Nobody top half of this league would touch him. Best keeper in the league according to Flitcroft 😂

  11. I’m greatly concerned from what I’ve seen so far. Dominated by Cheltenham. Collapsed after conceding against reading. Pathetic and meek on Saturday. And then the second half tonight was total and utter mismanagement, you could see it coming a mile off after about 5 mins of the second half.

  12. Remember Carol said we will see the real Darren Moore side after 3 games. God help us.

  13. Fleetwood looked on a par to Middlesbrough to me. Well above our level. Hence I don't get the booing of our players.

  14. This is 100% worse than the norman season. We will be down with 5 games to go at this rate

  15. When we go down. There is no way DF can stay. It's impossible. I certainly wouldn't trust him to sign another player, and I've not got £10m+ invested in the club.

  16. Relegation to League Two. Cost a 1,000+ fans. League two & Flitcroft in charge of recruitment add on an extra 1,000+. I think Carol will only learn when attendances plummet. I'm one of those who would go if Vale were in the National League but it doesn't mean I want to see us there but that is where we are heading at the current rate. I think it'll be too late by the time she get's the message.

  17. Oh he will mate. Thats what narcissists do. He will just get security. And the way it’s going, Carol will be there holding his hand. Im absolutely stunned at the whole mess. It hasn’t even crept in overnight. It’s been ongoing for 18 months or more. He has bull crapped the fans. He has bull crapped the owner. And only one side can see it and the main side that needs to see it, flutters her eyelids at him and kisses his arse. The strangest I’ve ever seen this club. Not the worst mate but good god this is one weird situation with their relationship, when the whole fanbase can see that his position is untenable.

  18. The post match interview, was one of the worst that I've ever seen from a Vale manager. Completely failing to acknowledge that the second half performance was totally abject and that the team who stuffed us 3-0 just a few weeks ago and are certain to be relegated, battered us again for the entire second half and were unfortunate not to have got all three points. You've really got to be super optimistic to pick any positives out of that and as a manager, of course, he has to, but despite us being 2-0 up and good value for it, from the moment the second half kicked off, we all knew what was coming, except the manager. Just shocking all round.

  19. He can’t be allowed to do any more damage. A team with this little fight falls straight through to the national league from league two next year.

  20. David Flitcroft. - Appointed a manager with next to Jo experience at this level without interviewing any other potential Calibre candidates in Andy Crosby, as nice of a guy he is he' no manager. - Failed to replace arguably one of the best players at the time Connor Hall. - Failed to replace Ellis Harrison who by no means was an out and out Goalscorer but was a useful player instead opting on utilising youngsters such as Odubeko and Josh Thomas or otherwise spending an actual budget on Ryan Loft who's numbers never indicated he was never going to be a success so ultimately he's brought a player in who essentially is a panic buy, in an area we've desperately needed to strengthen. How does that work Flickers? Where does the stats indicate that Ryan Loft would have been a successful signing given that he was out for most of last season and his goal return to appearances in nothing short of abysmal. - Signs Williams on loan, whether injured or bad attitude you can decipher this in two ways. Didn't we sign players with 'Good references' from other clubs? If his attitude stinks surely his reference from Aberdeen would be <ovf censored> if he's been injured most of the season then surely that signings not justifiable. - insists on a 5 at the back formation yet we have 1 out and out fullback at the club I'd argue on Clark who has been out for ages, no out and out LWB. At the end of the day David Flitcroft is a DOF and his primary focus should be to build a culture and squad capable of competing in league one, he has failed. A nice new scoreboard and pitch are useless to me if we are not the teaming winning on it, I am sorry. Therefore he has to good it will turn toxic if it has not already and Carol needs to see sense, if not, then we will only decline. You've got my signature, Flitcroft out.

  21. Busiest man in football apparently, but if you pop into the club to question him then he'll sit down and have a cup of tea with you

  22. Warren they aren't. The league table tells you how good they are. The Port vale benevolent society made them look good.

  23. His position should be untenable after 14 months of utter failure on the football side of the club which is his department. In a relegation battle no way in a million years should a 17 year old youth player be leading the line and thats a damning indictment of his performance in the last 14 months. I don't know where we go from here, Carol seems to not see it, in fact she went on the offensive over critics of him in the open letter so what on earth do we do? Another bad window or two and we could be looking at non league football unless a lot changes. He did a great job summer 2021 but we can't live of that going forward, it was a great season, Wembley was great but means nothing when we are back where we started... which we will be in 2 months time.

  24. The fact that this thread exists beggars belief. In what other sport would the manager/coach come under fire after 2 weeks in a job, let alone the one that DM has taken on. As for him not being the sharpest tool in the box, this is football folks or should we be looking towards Oxford or Cambridge University for our next manager?

  25. This has been lingering at the back of my mind: Can you remember in the flitcroft interview there was a bit about how bringing in a manager sooner wouldn't have helped with transfers as they are all planned by recruitment team? 2 entire transfer windows under DC we only signed a striker at the last minute (Harrison and Taylor), and both probably as DC could see the car crash happening and pulled out his contact book. We don't learn and are going down. What would have happened in january if we had an experienced manager in earlier? You can guarantee we would have more than we have.

  27. My prediction for what it's worth. We're relegated with games to spare this season. Moore does a DC & completely overhauls the squad in the summer. We have money to spend & manage to sign a decent squad. We are in & around the playoffs next season, but don't go up. Takes us 2 x seasons to get back to L1. I don't think Moore comes to Port Vale without getting a decent pay packet & the promise of funds to build his own team. I think a massive part of us bringing him in was that bagging a well known manager with a proven track record puts you in a much stronger position when you're trying to attract players & get signings over the line. I think that probably played a part in January. Players were probably looking at us & thinking... bottom half League 1 with Andy who in charge? I think Moore is a piece of the puzzle we were missing. A "big" name who can get signings over the line. Signings who would normally be out of our reach. We will find out in the summer. I think DF & Carol were banking on us being a League 1 side, because the calibre of player we may have been able to attract with Moore as manager & Carol's new found wealth would've put us in a different bracket. It doesn't look like that will materialise & he's going to have to work much harder to get some good signings through the door. There isn't many quality players who want to play League 2 football. I believe stopping up this season would've been transformational for us as a club. I think Carol knows this. Her interview on Saturday said it all. She knows we're within touching distance of a new era, but relegation is going to put us back by 2/3 years. She must be just as frustrated as ourselves, you can tell by how emotional she was in such a public setting.

  29. The comments about Jones are laughable, just shows how "stats" can't paint a completely different picture to reality. Lies, lies and damn lies! One of the worst footballers on ability I've seen at Vale in 30 odd years as a fan(at least for league one level and he wasn't great in league two)! Flitcroft ought to be severely reprimanded for ratifying a 2 year extension when his injury/absence record is a joke as well. Sadly Loft is another, I've seen some poor strikers at VP in my time but he makes Reggie Cicilia look like Drogba!

  30. Words words and more words most of which are meaningless drivel. Noted though to be fair that for Loft he mentions running around but doesn’t mention scoring 😂

  31. What chance did we have!!!! Some of these comments . Sang signed for midfield played there once , grant signed to play midfield played there once . Chasing loft all summer. Dan jones some of the best stats in this league and above. HIS RECRUITMENT HAS BEEN SHAMBOLIC

  34. Because oftentimes when a club sacks their manager it is a knee jerk reaction to a run of bad form and the "new manager bounce" is really just the team returning to the mean. Or the sacked manager really was holding the team down and the new guy changes things for the better so there is an immediate impact. In recent times, the manager hasn't been the problem, it's been the players simply not being good enough. That problem was supposed to have been fixed post-Askey with the appointment of a director of football...

  35. Whilst the squad is awful there is no excusing that 2nd half performance and that is simply on Moore for me. Very strange subs cost us that 3 points.

  36. I said it in the summer and was told I was being stupid as we hadn't assembled a squad or kicked a ball - but it was pretty obvious where this was heading
    2 points
  37. Probably coming to terms with the realisation he's flushed his career down the pan to manage our inevitable relegation into League Two believing the director of football spiel about a squad full of talented players just needing a bit of a lift

  38. I felt a sense of greater jeopardy tonight. Fleetwood are a good side. I don't know why they are second bottom. The one thing I can take is the central defence played well v Fleetwood until eventually making a mistake caused by the incessant pressure.

  39. How can we possibly sack Flickers? Who cares about the results and quality of our squad? All are irrelevant, small details This man loans in (teenage) players from Premier League teams (who are desperate to loan their players out. And he sold one of our (teenage) players to a (second bottom) Premier League team (who are hoovering up young teenage players and will likely loan him out again). That is the sign of a great DoF. We are truly not worthy.

  40. He's got to be held wholly responsible. Loft. Well the joke statement of chasing him all summer is enough for the sack. And I'm not jumping on the bandwagon after that header as I've posted concerns for a while but as per Jones there is a strange love in. Debrah is an utter liability. Non league yard dog. Both signed by cheeky chappy Flitters.

  44. Loft is easily the worst player ive seen at the club since 1987. and ive seen some absolute pants up at VP.

  45. If Flitcroft doesn't sort out this monumental balls up you won't catch me defending him again I can tell you that.

  46. I was wrong. So very wrong. Although his stubbornness to change formation and tactics annoyed the hell out of me. Crosby was the least of our problems.

  47. It's all gone up in smoke. I fear for the wellbeing of Carol with this situation. I was shocked to see DM turn-up and yes, my first thoughts were that of this is a panic appointment to appease fans with the hope we avoid relegation. She's intelligent and I assume there are people who will tell her the 'truth' if asked, Sir John being one? The video after match was cringeworthy and worrying. I hope she's OK? What a mess. When are the players being flown to away games? Has DF managed to secure the B.A contract from manchester yet a-la Bury FC? Madness.
    1 point
  48. Whether DM is a success or failure, time will tell. However, yet again, we didn't interview anyone else for the role. So that's a Director of Football appointed without a competitive application process. A manager in Crosby appointed without a competitive application process. And now another managerial appointment with an interview shortlist of one. It hardly seems a failsafe approach to getting the best candidate for the job.
