I wonder whether Bournemouth offered Whitfield a contract because of interest in him, like we did with Morsy. Offer him the same and get compensation when moves on. However it blew up in their face when he signed, because their offer would have probably been more than what lower league teams could offer. Now they were stuck with him, they've potentially released him so he can get himself a club.

 

Don't blame him for stayING at Bournmeouth for money - it is his job after all. I'd take him back for sure but not sure where he'd fit in now.

I think Whitfield's boat has sailed here, now we have signed Miller and Dodds to play alongside Pope. I enjoyed watching him in several games last year and I wish him well wherever he ends up.

If it’s true Whitfield needs a new agent.

Stopped him joining Vale in January then fails to get him a new contract with Bournemouth.

I would imagine his wages at Bournemouth would be better than Div2 wages so makes him expensive to sign.

Bournemouth would be paying all or part of his wages when he was here on loan.

Didn’t Dodds go to Chesterfield instead of Vale in January but he got a second chance.

Whitfield was brill against Luton and his goal against Chesterfield kept us up.

I would take him any day.

Whitfield would be ace cover simply because he can play wide as well as in the number 10 role. With players similar to him in age and style of play he would excel.

 

He would also hold potential resale value as he’s still quite young.

Norman did this when Marshall left, then wanted to return. Idiotic, stubborn behaviour turning him down then he went to Bradford and was their player of the year.

 

Get good players into the squad and on the pitch and EVERYTHING takes care of itself then.

Makes me shake my head in bewilderment when reading some posts stating that we don't want/need a player with talent and the proven ability to score & cause problems for the opposition in this league. (......particularly when it seems that some of these posters hardly ever watch the team!)

 

And as for Whitfield being no better than Turner.......that's just laughable!!!
