Players in and out

As suggested on another thread by PV1973, I thought we needed a thread to discuss player ins and outs. Dan Turner is off to Falkirk for a six month loan apparently. I hope it goes well for him and he comes back in January as a contender for our squad.

I've got high hopes for Turner and Benns and hope good loan deals will help them develop. That means we could do with another striker because I can't see Barnett having a renaissance.

Turner joined up with them earlier this week for their pre-season training, they're somewhere in Wales for a training camp I believe. Personally I think its a good move and not only in footballing terms either.

 

I'm sure Benns will go somewhere on loan as is the norm for first year pros. I can see Calverley going out on loan too to get experience because hes going to be down the pecking order for holding midfielders.

 

I don't think Barnett will be going anywhere unless we sign a suitable replacement. We could still be stuck with him for the season if no one comes in or we don't pay him off. But I agree we need another striker in.

Was at Swindon last season on loan but had it terminated as he didnt get much game time. 14 games 2 goals, although they did sign Rico in January.

Probably due to the fact that it descended (as with most threads) into petty squabbling and insults being thrown with no real relevance to the opening post. By the looks of it, the aforementioned seems to have taken up 80% of the thread!

 

On this topic, I can't see Benns leaving on loan. I think he's going to be on the bench this season, along with Dior.

I really can't see any of the 3-4 transfer listed players staying but it might be late in the window before they depart. They'll want to play football and it's clear now that there is no place for them here in the long term. It's hard enough to see most of these new players all getting a game so the writing must be on the wall for the others. Sad, but that's football.

 

We'll probably see the usual 2-3 triallists in training and/or in the friendlies too.

 

Hard to predict but I'd suggest that we need at least another striker, defender and wide player but it could depend on who departs and might as I say be the end of Augsut before the jigsaw is complete.

 

A little bit warm for pre-season training tomorrow!
