The sort of players we need are the ones that you generally have to pay good money for and not the ones that other teams will give away.

 

Unless we can unearth a player with no previous track record like an Alex Jones, it's difficult to see us signing anybody in the loan window who can make a difference.

Had Kanu and Quigley to that who we must be paying something towards even if it’s 500 quid a week and you start to realise we could easily have signed 2 top top players on 1.5-1.75k a week each

 

Top players in this league are on over 2k, as are some players in the league below. I'd be surprised if Davis and Barnett combined isn't over 3k. The other 3 combined maybe 2-2.5k, as Tongue and Pugh are supposed to be smaller earner. With the change in loan rules you do need a bigger squad than a couple of years ago, so it's more of a balancing act over a season of quality over quantity.

I think we need Howkins in to play alongside Rawlinson , and we need a solid experienced left back, and move Monty up the field. Hope Conlon can come in and something to midfield, when fit.

I'd agree with that. This lad seems to be more of a right back than a left back but apparently can play in either position. Whether he's up to it or not we'll have to wait and see (sounds a bit like Hart) but he immediately gives us more balance and like you I'd move Monty up the pitch and tell him to get to the byline.

 

Please god he's good enough to play some games and not, as you say, sit on the bench with splinters in his ****.

He has pace which is more than what we have at the minute. He can’t be as bad as he’s been at left back this season. Imo either pick him in his natural position or pick an actual left back that can defend.
