Interesting discussion about Monty.

My suggestion to put him back on the wing was because we are not creating anything down the flanks. I think we had, what, one on target effort in 90 minutes in the last home game? And not too many in the one before. He was our second top scorer last year, while Hannant has managed only 1 goal in 21 matches and for me doesn't look threatening at all.

But, yes, he was very impressive as left back last year, though I didn't see him in any tricky away games when we faced a troublesome winger. I still worry a little about his positional play and strength and feel there's something a bit lightweight about him but he was really good as left back, I do agree.

 

There is something not right though about our back four as a whole. We look flaky. Just not enough physicality and grit and win-at-all-costs. No Aspin or Hazell or Swan or Bikey or whatever. We look a bit of a soft touch. We praised Anderson & Gunning because they got stuck in and found Row Z. We don't have enough players like that.

 

Saturday's team selection will be interesting.

 

Oh, what happened to this forward we were chasing two weeks ago? We'd made a bid for one and were looking at a loan deal for another, according to our esteemed chairman.

 

I think anyone would be mad to ever think that we were going to pay for a striker,imo all a bluff from the Chairman that,to make fans think we are in the market for spending a bit on a player

Think they see him more as a centre back or a right back. Most seem to say his best position is centre back but think he lacks a bit of height to play in the middle.

 

Quite excited by this signing. He’s out of contract at the end of this season, too.

Maybe so,i was going off the responses on FB,i wonder if Aspin will go with 3 at the back tomorrow and use Monty and Clark as the pacy wing backs

With regard to Miller, I doubt we paid much for him. NS would have been shouting it from the rooftops via a megaphone if we'd paid a lot of money for him. Peterborough wanted him out and had been trying hard for months to get shut. No doubt a small fee was involved but I doubt it was as much as you might think.

 

Going back to ins and outs, if we've now signed a full back does that mean that we no longer want a centre half or Howkins? We've got 4 loan players already and only allowed 5 in the match-day squad so where do we desperately need another one? Winger or striker? Probably won't be both so which one will it be?

Can’t see Howkins coming back now. Clark can play as a centre back as well if needs be and we’ve got him for the full season now.

Would rather have seen Tyler Walker from Notts Forest but he,s on loan at Mansfield.We need a forward not more defenders or midfield players.Alex Jones isn’t playing for Bradford is he available on loan.

Alex Jones would be a great signing, don't think he has even been on the bench so maybe he is injured again.
