  1. The question is does Smith gamble and move to a struggling Birmingham team who could probably be in Div 1 next season or stay at Vale where he gets his place every week and could possibly be be in Div 1 next season.Smith would have to prove himself all over again and could possibly spend next season warming the bench at Brum. He May be happy to sign a 2 or 3 year deal at Vale where he can see a regular starting place and a chance to move to a higher level if a decent offer was made. The club and fans support him and call him one of our own. So many players move to bigger clubs to end up being loaned out to lower teams when they can’t get in the team and clubs like Brum just sign players to gamble that one of them makes the first team. Probably the only fan who would be happy to see the back of Smith would be VFIA who constantly moans about Smith being in the team. Really Vale should be talking to players they want to stay now rather than waiting for their contracts to run out. Smith seems to be a sensible down to earth person who will weigh up his chances off playing regularly if he moves. The problem is greedy agents only get paid extra money if they can move players on
  2. The thing with Amoo is he is only as good as his defender lets him and some teams have done their homework and stuck two players on him to stop him crossing the ball.Made easier because Askey insists on playing one striker up front so there is a spare defender to mark him.Luckily yesterday he was able to attack his defender and get some good crosses in.
  3. Crewe are playing Macc on Tuesday so will be interesting to see how they cope with the rough and tumble against a team struggling to stay in the league.
  4. If Amoo played like that every week he wouldn’t be at Port Vale but playing regular Div 1 or Championship. He is a Port Vale player and when he plays to his ability is an excellent player and rightly gets the plaudits and encouragement from the fans. Bennett is white and accused of being lazy and not putting himself about enough but nobody can say it is racist to criticise him. When will Askey wake up to the fact that Cullen cannot play up front on his own but is a support player to assist Pope or possibly Bennett..
  5. The problem is Askey insists on playing one up front and uses the same tactic of hoofing it up to the player up front. This is why people were crying out forPope to be bought on to feed off the numerous crosses being put in the box. Then he takes Cullen off who was playing well with his link up play and replaces him with Pope. When will Askey learn that Cullen is not a lone striker and needs someone like Pope to feed off. If we play two up front they need 3 players to mark them and stops them overloading the midfield because with one front they only need two players back to mark him. Thank God Brown came up with a couple of point blank saves to keep us in the game and Gibbo cleared off the line or else it could have been a different result. We made hard work of beating another poor team.
  6. The Smith ,Legge partnership is the strength of our team. Askey will play Groundhog Day with Pope up front on his own. Leyton Orient will have done their homework and put two big Centre halves on Pope and this allows them to overload the midfield stopping the crosses coming in. Just think where we would have been with two up front pressurising their defence and giving their defenders something to worry about. I still can’t believe we have a proven goal scorer like Cullen sitting on the bench and not playing alongside Pope.
  7. Both Worrall and Conlon must have had extension deals depending on appearances included in their deals. Possibly until end of this season.
  8. Lloyd is going to Leek Town on loan until the end of the season to allow a decent player to come in.
  9. Surely Askey must realise by now that playing one up front against the lower teams doesn’t work. Again he left it too late to play two up front and take the game to Morecombe. Shame really we could be in a better situation with good game management and using players like Cullen up front with Pope more often. We are becoming a one trick pony so that teams put two players on Pope and cut out the crosses to feed him. We are also limited by options off the bench because there are not many players on the bench who are game changers. Morecombe have only won 5 matches this season so were there for the taking same as Leyton Orient who are also on a poor run so it will be another dire game on Saturday with them sitting back hoping to pinch a win. Dont know what has happened to the so called pressing game with the wingers and midfielders getting forward to support Pope. So I expect ground hog day again with an isolated Pope feeding of scraps and hoping for a lucky penalty to save the day.
  10. Sorry but it’s a case of look what you might have won. How many games have we lost at the death by not bringing on a sub at the last few minutes.(Mansfield). But I must admit it makes a change to pinch a game with a last minute penalty.(Stevenage). Actually if we had managed to win all the games we have scored first we would be top of the league. Again on Saturday it shows that if the wingers and midfield don’t get up to support Pope we struggle to break down poor teams who sit back and hope for a break away to score. Being so predictable with one up front costs us points when we can’t score or allows their wing backs to come forward and overload our midfield. At least if we tried two up front with Pope and Cullen we would give their defenders more to think about.
  11. Notts Forest can smell the Man City money and hope we are silly enough to pay silly money for a player with 17 league games under his belt.
  12. Out on loan in Jan so job done, The people who need specsavers will be disappointed.
  13. Yes but he,s not from Macc reserves like certain other people we have signed. Not one of Askeys misfits. Must admit I have been pleasantly surprised by Burgess but the only one out of Evans,Kennedy,Lloyd to step up to the team. Even you with your rose tinted glass must admit they aren’t good enough for l argue football.
  14. Heard a rumour on Saturday that Forest we’re extending his loan until the end of the season.( and his contract).Obviously they have smelt the coffee of the money from the Man City game and hanging out for a big fee. Helped by Sproson who is touting him round to other clubs to increase his fee. 100k for a player with 17 league games under his belt you,re having a larf.
  15. Kelleher at Macc would be a good replacement and probably would be happy to get paid every month.
  16. Askey only has one game plan. Playing one up front no matter if we are playing Swindon or Stevenage. So we don’t need another striker to warm the bench. I am sure if Cullen was played correctly to feed off Pope rather than a lone striker he would score goals. Lee Hughes did it for Mickey. Really talk of bringing half a dozen players in in January is silly because any player is going to be expensive and the decent ones who are playing regularly won’t give up a decent contract unless offered silly money. Best to tread water and consolidate ready to strengthen the squad in the summer to give it a real go to get promoted. Even if we did manage to get up from the play offs we would struggle to stay up without throwing money at it to stay up. It is obvious that given injuries and suspensions we really haven’t got the squad players who can step up to the mark when given the chance. Poor squad player signings early instead of waiting for recognised league players means we are carrying a few passengers who need moving on to pastures new.
  17. If we are carrying on playing one up front we don’t need another striker. We have a top class striker in Cullen who isn’t given a chance because Askey insists on playing one up front no matter if we are playing Swindon or Stevenage. Also don’t believe in paying more than 50k for a player who has only played 17 league matches. 30k plus sell on clause is a fair offer but Notts Forest can smell the money from the Man City game. Dont think Phil Sproson is being honest when he says he will try to keep him at Vale. He will get a wedge from the sale and is more interested in attracting competing bids to push up the price.
  18. Pope could claim his twitter account had beeb hacked like Norman.
  19. He is the Macclesfield Messi so I will do it for you from all the supporters who booed him who haven’t got anything between their ears.
  20. Well have to agree to disagree then because I still think he was a poor signing and wasted the budget. Are you sure it’s the supporters who had bugger all between their ears booing him or maybe they were showing the rest of you what a waste of money he has been.
  21. You’re the one getting things wrong. If you check my posts you will find I was asking for Taylor to be signed when he was on trial Never criticised Browne but you may be reading my criticism of signing Macc reserves. I didn’t like Kennedy or Evans and definitely Lloyd. If you don’t like my posts tough S#it it’s a forum And I have to read your S#it so get over it.
  22. Don’t think you can compare Lloyd with Luke Joyce. Joyce is a far better player than Lloyd and has improved quite a lot this season. He is a regular first team reliable player. Askey built up the Lloyd signing by saying what a good player he was and could play left back (can’t tackle)left midfield (not mobile) and left wing (stands around waiting for the ball). He could have signed a better player who could play in the first team but signed Lloyd. It wasn’t as if he didn’t know what he was getting because he was poor at Macclesfield.
  23. Might be Evans, I think that's his natural position. After Tuesday Evans showed he is poor defending so Conlon and Burgess for me. Even Brisley if he is fit. Time to be adventurous and start with Pope and Cullen up front to give their defenders something to think about and not just stop us scoring by putting two players on Pope. Browne is a cert for left wing and has taken his chance with Worrall being suspended.
