Fairly satisfied. Waters is obviously off as they are very similar players.

 

Still need the elusive out and out forward.

I wasn't exactly enamoured when I heard the rumour but I'm so glad that all of the speculation is out of the way now. Besides he's our player for a year so we must get behind him

Excellent signing. Just what our midfield needs.

And it's a loan remember so we've got him at minimal cost to ourselves. Really clever business by the Vale.

If we'd had him here last season we'd have finished half way up the league.

Why, there’s hundreds of worse players in the bottom two leagues that we could have signed. Aspin has sanctioned this so good enough for me!

If he’s going to be on the bench then it’s an ok signing. But if he’s starting then it worries me for next season. About as lazy a signing as you can get really.

People can dress this up all they want. The fact is Dodds was generally a sub during his prime years at Vale, not a star player. He was a very good player and servant for us but he was never a leading light, not even in league 2 in his mid 20s.

 

We have signed an unwanted player by a team relegated from league 2. They even want to pay his wages to get rid!!!

 

He sat on the bench for Chesterfield and they had some right rubbish starting!

 

Overall I am sentinmental and like Dodds, but really if Smurf opened his wallet, we could and should be after better.

Thats not quite true at all.

 

He was fairly pivotal in our promotion season. The games in which we made big spenders Rotherham and Fleetwood look silly he was crucial. He scored 8 goals for us in League 1.

 

He ended up playing centre mid for us, in the games we clinched promotion.

 

Is he a massive signing? No. Is he going to seal a play off place? No.

 

Is he a proven player with hundreds of games and a track record of chipping in with 8 goals, creativity, versatility, and good character, which can only be a net positive at the club? Yes.

Distinctly underwhelmed but let's see what he does, or doesn't do, on the pitch before passing judgement.

 

You never know, he might have qualities that Aspo knows about that we don't. Then again, he might just have been available and cheap.
