Welcome Louis Dodds least you will get a game now as you better than Tonge Kay and Pugh put together .

As they dont have the legs do you .

We need strikers and if we dont get them we will finish probably just 2 places above where we finished this season .

Dodds can finish i will give him that however i see nothing in the final third what has me thinking wow we are going be a good watch unless Aspin does what he usually does and plays Pope all game every game even when he aint being fed which is regular .

We need 2 strikers one who can be unpredictably brilliant and a player like Naylor or Mcphee who us a poacher who can feed off Popes general play which is good in majority of games but not all and thats when you need a alternative .

Good luck to the Vale and hope the fans are seeing what can be achieved through hard work ,committment and effort and a bit of magic in the oppositions box and wide men who dont just pass the ball back to the full back and take on no responsibility and a centre half who plays like the manager and has Terry Butchers blood kind of heart and committment and not play like Pat Butcher and let shots go in leftright and centre .

Silly tactic really playing the leagues 9th highest goal scorer up front every game when fit in an attempt to get goals 😉

In the interview he did but he also said it was because the parent club normally wanted to keep young players around for preseason, which is normally the case. This is a different scenario. Dodds was never going to do much in a Martin Allen team because of the way he plays. Dodds knows it, Marin Allen knows it. Dodds got given a good contract we wouldn't match at Chesterfield so it makes sense for them to cut their loses and part fund him playing somewhere else. Dodds is certainly earning more than he's worth on his current contract and wouldn't voluntarily move further from home for the same money on a loan or less money on a permanent contract. So it seems they've offered him to us on favourable terms and we've said yes. There was something in the offing when Aspin talked about possibly bringing in an extra midfielder if someone became available.

This has more John Rudge than Chairman I think. Fergerson always said he dreaded Rudge phoning because he was always after a lot without paying for it. We'll never know how badly Aspin wanted Dodds but we'd have ended paying a lot more of his wages if he'd ever let on he did want him.

I'm not apposed to Dodds coming back, I just think that a proven goal scorer is a higher priority even if we are only paying 50% of his wage, I would rather it be spent on that elusive striker.

Lol i said if we are to move up the league you cannot rely on T Pope alone ,he does have poor games aswell you know as all players do .

So for arguments sake you at the game for 70 minutes we are very poor ,centre half is dominating Pope and we have not had a go at goal all game .

As a supporter do you leave him on or do you try and bring a bit of excitement onto the pitch a unpredictable forward who can give you a different way of playing and last 20 u go home saying you enjoyed that as a goal goes in as all of a sudden the new player is bringing a extra edge to the other players and a different system to beat the opposition .

Like i say i usually get a season ticket but the way the players folded at Cambridge and the lack of endeavour in most games i witnessed last season ive decided to just go occassionally ,i just hope those of you whos committment is matched by them wearing the shirts and we bring a excitement to the ground a excitement which i only felt on about 5 occassions last season in 26 games i attended .

I don't think this is instead. It might mean we are less likely to bring in an untried youngster from Wolves on a season long loan. We are still short on bodies. There's a lot of activity over the next fortnight across the leagues as players have been hanging around to see what offers come there way. Someone like Morias won't be worth 100k on transfer deadline day. Most of the players we've been linked with haven't actually gone anywhere yet except Dennis.

The only decent strikers we've ever signed by this point in the summer were Andy Jones and Beckford. Wasting money is easy it's getting a good player for the right price.

We do need options but even on a bad day Pope is always the player you'd bank to get an ugly goal. We do need players who can come on and change the course of a game.

I wish I could say i share your optimism, the team reports back in 7 days to start pre-season, and It would be nice to have that additional couple of strikers the team is crying out for. R well allot can happen in 7 days. I hope.

You just won't leave it will you? Don't you want to acknowledge that Tom Pope who you seem to have a grudge against saved our skins last season and if you fail to see that you must be dense. Yes I'm pleased about Doddsie because he has that touch of class in his game and will I'm sure be worthy of his wage.

No grudge against any Vale player even those on decline. You are the dense one with your continuing sniping at others at the club. But low and behold you’ve got your two worldies back at the club.Season ticket bought yet Owd to see those 40+ goals rattling in by the dynamic duo. There is an old saying in racing,’they never come back’.That applies to football aswell.

Or they get rid of higher earners. Maybe paid over the odds in January as they were desperate for signings

Exactly right, which is why it was correct that we shouldn't have gone balls deep into January signing players on big wages with no guarantee of success.

I'm ok with the Dodds signing. Is it exciting? No, is it disastrous? Certainly not. Does he improve the squad? Yes.

It sounds like we have got an experienced versatile player in on the cheap who knows the area, the club and is happy to sit on the bench for spells throughout the season.

Its about as low a risk signing as you can possibly make.

Could Mr Smurthwaite please explain to fans why we we are unlikely to sign a proven striker this close season. This is yet ANOTHER transfer window where we have not obtained a striker, are we foolishly going to rely on Pope for a further season. Norman you are conning us all.

I didn’t originally make it bd.I hope to Christ I’m wrong but can you honestly see the same as 2012/13 season. In fact OS failed to respond to my first question.Dodds provided NO assists to Pope’s 30+ League goals that season. No goals in his last 30+ league games doesn’t exactly leave me salivating.’The only team I wanted to come back to’.Now where have we heard that before. No ****er wanted him more like.Benchwarmer at very best.
