As for Dodds, I was always a big critic but he’s a better option then turner to be honest. As long as we get another out and out striker in.

I don't personally see Hannant as a wide player, he's better in the middle. He's more of a James Milner type on the wing but I feel we need a JMW type to create things out of nothing.

 

It's all about signing players now that will create chances, if we can create 10 chances a game I'd be happy that the players we have would finish a few, but we barely created anything last season and haven't addressed that yet. Those players cost money, which we have but won't spend yet!

Vassell was in last week, so it could be him. It took a week to get the deal for Dodds so maybe Vassell is in the same boat?

I think they'll certainly push on when they can and get balls in to the box, and Montano being a winger has that extra bit of trickery too. But the way I look at it with the defenders is that their first job is to win their personal battles with their winger, anything else they contribute on top of that is a bonus. I don't recall many opposition fullbacks last season trying to be as direct as those 2 tried to be for us.

I think we've got the players to try 3 at the back with wing backs, much as England are doing - Montano and Gibbons as wing backs. Proper pace and delivery there. Kay could be one of the 3 defenders with him pushing up into midfield as needed a la John Stones. In that case we're well blessed for midfielders but we could maybe do with another striker to be backup for Pope.
