  1. Apparently the paparazzi were in secret attendance and managed to get a photo of the fan delegation taking a vote on sacking Flitcroft 😉

  2. This thread is just cringeworthy. Are people really having tantrums because they weren’t asked to attend?

  4. Or maybe things that were confidential remain confidential for the respect of those requesting it. Everything else is out in the public domain on the various posts, tweets and podcasts - there is nothing else. We may have differing opinions on Flitcroft, but we can act with some dignity, confidentiality, humanity and professionalism.

  5. Can anyone on here explain the treatment of Lopata? When I’ve seen him, he looks like our most capable defender, then he disappears. Why is he not playing more?

  6. If David Flitcroft thought as much of Carol as she does of him, then he would resign as soon as relegation is confirmed.

  7. I have to admit that I'm really struggling to even listen to this on the radio. I have tried to start every game feeling positive, telling myself that this might be the game we turn it round and I dont want to miss it etc etc but the last 4/5 games I just feel like the players have completely given up so it seems pointless me bothering. Ive watched virtually every game this season but honestly I think Im done with it until next season I'm not even seeing the tunnel never mind the light at the end of it.

  9. Happened in 2017/18, we smashed Luton 4-0 December 29th or 30th didn't win again until Good Friday! (30th March). We'd won 4 and drew 1 in 5 leading up to that run). I genuinely believe losing Uche has killed us, he isn't a goal machine but he held the ball up at times and caused problems and gave us physicality. We were creating hatfuls in games in December with him in the side, no surprise Chislett, Garrity and Wilson produced the goods playing with him (and Massey).

  10. I can’t believe you think we didn’t ask “pertinent questions”. Have you read Bede’s account of the meeting? In order: Because she thinks he is doing a good job despite evidence to the contrary. On deadline day the guy they had lined up wasn’t allowed to leave because his parent club hadn’t got the replacement. They had agreed a deal with an out of contract player and were gazumped. She didn’t answer. No she isn’t. Because rebuilding the whole block means shutting access to the Paddock and moving the fans. Didn’t want to do that in the season. Hope this helps.

  11. I had no clue what the numbers at the beginning and end even meant. Still it’s also worth noting that recruiting isn’t just an individual thing. It’s a group of players that you’re assembling. A collective. At the moment we are so far from looking like a team that’s it’s unreal. We’re more like a collective shambles. What flitcroft has done since the promotion season is indefensible One things for sure. I can see with my own eyes that we’ve built a squad with hardly any goals in it, just looking at individual players stats tells you that. So what were our recruitment team seeing? We’ve decided to play a wingback system and we amazingly have no wingbacks. We have no strikers when we were drastically short of them in January and still are. We’ve tried to go to a back 4 and we have no fullbacks. Also we have that intangible thing of having no characters on the pitch and seemingly no togetherness. We had that in abundance 2 years ago when we went up. It’s been slowly dismantled. But overall just look at our performances and league position. We are terrible. There’s no dressing up how bad the recruitment has been since promotion. We were hearing rumours sneaking out of the club about flitcrofts “negotiation tactics” at the end of the promotion season when players were leaving or offered poor deals. It’s snowballed since then to the position we’re in now where his free rein has seen us have the squad stripped of characters and leaders to become an unbalanced mess with no one who we can feel connected to or invested in. He has to go. No ifs or buts.

  12. Assuming Vale are gonna be in Lge 2, IMHO the squad needs to be based around experienced, good Lge 1/2 pro's who will form the bulk of the 1st team, complemented by the young lads. But most of all Vale need a couple of natural goal scoring strikers at least to score the goals if we are to win/contend for promo. The same mistakes regarding recruitment of strikers cannot happen again

  13. Out of all the sides i've seen this season, Leyton Orient have surprised me the most because of good they were. Especially for a side just promoted. Well organised, well drilled, fast passing, know what each others jobs are, press quickly. Really impressed with them. We're going to get tatered!

  14. Yes to all your questions. And just to clarify yet again for the umpteenth time. The club DID NOT invite us, we asked them. And they didn’t know until the afternoon of the meeting who was attending. And you have no idea the part played by members of B&G in explaining to Carol at the Cheltenham game in 2019 what Norman was doing and why they need her help. You have no idea of the amount of digging about Norman which went on and which got him quite worried. How many Vale games to you get to? You said you didn’t attend often. Is that because you live abroad? If you check the Vale website you will find contact details for the club. You can email them and ask if you can make an appointment with Carol, Matt Hancock or David Flitcroft. Let us know how you get on.

  15. Jesus wept, do what they did go up the Vale and request a meeting and if you want the peed up mob from the back of the Railway take them with you and the report back how you went on. Simple. Sent from my SM-A217F using onevalefan mobile app

  16. Why do people make stuff up about that meeting when they know bugger all about it, Doha? It’s infuriating. I should have taken a photograph of everyone there but PA would probably have accused us of having it photoshopped by the Palace.

  17. I suggested nothing of the sort. The people in that meeting were all known to each other from previous campaigns against owners at Vale. We fought against the self interest of V2001 and the disgraceful ownership of Norman Smuthwaite. In this case we had no issue with the owners, indeed we have huge respect for them. We simply wanted to convey the feelings of the fan base about the current situation on the pitch and who should take responsibility for our failings. We also raised a number of other issues about the disappointing fan experience on matchdays. I have huge trust in all the people who were at that meeting and I have to admit to being seriously pissed off with the negative response of a number of posters to what we were trying to do. Shouting at the internet achieves nothing. Face to face discussion may just achieve something. Please feel free to organise your own meeting and invited a cross section of 8 to 80 year olds to attend.

  19. Not sure it's the worst team ever but it's the team that has made me the most miserable that I can remember. I never felt like I don't want to go to games until now and have never left a game early until Saturday

  20. So you ask hundreds of questions here about the meeting but don’t have the inclination to go and ask face to face? And you don’t go to games to give your support but seem desperate to hear gossip from people who do? Is the sun in the Canaries getting to you?!

  21. True, we will still be crap, but let’s not forget that we should now be in the process of at least drawing up a list of targets for next season, made all the more difficult by the fact we don’t know what league we’ll be playing in, although we can all probably guess the answer to that. As it stands our DoF will be overseeing this process, which doesn’t give me any confidence.

  23. VB, a very derogatory way of addressing other PVFC fans. I know a successful businessman who sits with them, who has done a lot for this club, supporting them as a fan for over 50 years and supporting them financially, through sponsorship. Yes he likes a beer when attending games and he likes to be vocal, that’s his Saturday afternoon. He’s certainly not a member of the ‘peed up mob’,he just sits in this area. This exactly the point I made about splitting the fan base. I would not request a meeting with any one at the club because basically, I don’t want to listen to the drivel that they spout. I used to become frustrated with the lack of information that came out of the club, but when anything does it’s a load of rubbish. I prefer radio silence and hope that it stays that way.

  25. Highly unlikely mate . Devoid of any semblance of confidence. Be amazed if win again this season. To be fair our early season run had lots of luck. Oxford finished with 9 men. Charlton couldn't defend as badly again if they tried. We all got a bit carried away.

  26. People blaming DM for the not doing the new manager bounce. How could he with this rubbish put together by fraudcroft and the recruitment team. Not even god would get a reaction from them. He is trying to get something from them, but most of them are not capable at this level. Bring the youngsters through and give them a chance to play, as we all know we are down, so no pressure on them. We may even win - stranger things happen.

  27. You can't just isolate DF in all of this. Who employs DF? Carol. Who hired DF? Carol. Who continues to support DF? Carol. Without Carol, there's no DF. To suggest that he's got her over a barrel, has brainwashed her is both ridiculous and insulting to Carols intelligence. For the record, I love Carol. We'll NEVER get an owner who genuinely wants the best for the club as she does. I trust her judgement, and don't pretend to know the ins and outs of bringing players in. I swear some of you think it's as easy as saying oh, we want him and they magically arrive and will be guaranteed successes. DF is really no better or worse in the transfer market than how it worked previously imho. This is my take on the last few years recruitment success to this season ('success' being very generously applied by and large): PRE DF: 9 - Grimmer, Lines, Dickinson, Griffith - 44% 24 - Veseli, Andoh, Marshall, Streete - 16% 13 - Ikpeazu, Inniss, Alnwick, Streete, Foley - 38% 30 - Jones, Eagles, Bikey - 10% 29 - Worrall, Whitfield, Pope - 10% 22 - Clark, Conlon, Oyeleke, Legge, Joyce, Brown - 27% 16 - Taylor, Amoo, Burgess - 19% 13 - Rodney - 8% POST DF 23 - Cass, Politic, Harratt, Garrity, Benning, Jones, Pett, Walker, Wilson, Proctor, Hall, Charsley - 52% 15 - Harrison, Butterworth, Ojo, Forrester - 26% 20 - Ripley, Devine, Arblaster, Chislett, Debrah, Sang - 30% Do any of you actually know what role DC and AC have played in recruitment? Do you really believe that DF signs every player on a whim and does not consult the manager at all?

  28. That team got 49 points and could have stayed up on the last day of the season. This lot won’t get 40 points and have given up already.

  29. I saw someone say that we are on a par with the Bruno/Brown team of 2016/17 but not quite as bad as the Foyle/Sinnott team of 2007/08, and I tend to agree. There have been worse Vale sides in the fourth tier. The Pugh/Tonge axis of evil immediately springs to mind.

  30. I wouldn't call them the worst but then again I wouldn't say they were any better than the worst. I certainly wouldn't back them to beat the worst. In fact I wouldn't confidently back them to beat our women's team the women would probably bully them. I do think this is the weakest bunch of players I have ever seen and my first season was 1972. Sang couldn't get the ball off my 82 year old mother. There is no fight in any of them just short periods where one or two have a go for five minutes but then they give up. There is some level of technical ability in some of these players but they allow teams to dominate them so they don't get the chance to play. You have to win the ball before you can do anything with it.

  31. Nowhere near. 79 - 81 were the worst years to support the club.

  34. The manager has been changed, until the chance of a miracle is over. we are still a L1 club. Until the season is over, the players are not likely to be changed. The recruitment system requires review by the owners, hopefully in progress. Sent from my SM-A715F using onevalefan mobile app

  35. Spot on. People love asking the same questions over and over, when most have been answered to a large degree by both Carol and DF, simply because they don't like the answers given as it doesn't suit their rhetoric or agenda
    3 points
  36. All those questions were asked. Some were not answered.

  37. Disagree, under previous regimes this was the right way to go about it as the money was being pocketed by the likes of Smurthwaite. We now have owners who are not the issue, I will have the occasional moan about them but we all know what the problem is. He has to be removed from this club and continued protests about him is the only way for him to go. I dont feel starving the club of finances is the way forward.

  38. I think we're a fantastic bet to go down again, you'll probably get half-decent odds too. Our success in L2 previously has come from having physical players and leaders in the team, Griff, McCombe, Richards, Pope and even recently with the likes of Conor Hall. We won't recruit those kind of players though, it'll be "nice lads" to fit this rubbish passing it sideways style of play. Sign a big b*stard up-front, some quick wingers, and get it in the box to him. Bring back Dinosaur football!

  42. I don't know how you can say that when Carol has repeatedly told us he is responsible for anything that touches the ball. My experience of football and life in general is that good leaders and bad leaders are at the centre of the performance of any human organisation. Anyway, I'm willing to give it a try - what do we have to lose?
    2 points
  43. Be careful what you wish for; no guarantee that we would be able to assemble a squad that's any better than what we have. We are assessing our players based on how they have performed in L1, which is a big step up from L2. Others that you have failed to mention will do us a job in L2; add a sprinkling of decent signings and we may have enough to come straight back up. I am confident that DM will not allow another failed transfer window to happen.

  44. I think I can safely assume that removing Flitcroft from the Club would be a useful change that might even bring immediate positive results. I'm certainly happy to try it, as he won't figure in my Vale fantasy football set-up next year in any universe, parallel or otherwise...

  45. I went to have a look and yes, the lineup aside from Arblaster could be the same this week. Most telling for me was the Blackpool 29th December game, our last win. We totally dominated. Never looked like conceding and it could have been 4 or 5. Nobody who left that evening could have ever said we would not win again. Only guys who we had who are not available are Devine and Uche.
