Where do we go from here?

We iron out the wobbles at the back, get our strikers back and start to grind some results together. Do you really think DC is going to just sit back and accept that? He’ll expect a huge response and ring the changes ASAP I’m sure. We’ll be fine, but this league is so tight that it would be criminal to be complacent about the drop if you’re bottom- 10th. I never have been and I'm certainly not now.

He won’t be ringing many changes up front.

What we're the terms and conditions?

Taken off Twitter so not posting anything confidential. However IF true why would Carol turn down big investment if she's struggling. Unless she feels it's not good for the Club.

Yeah something has clearly happened, however I don't get the impression she's suddenly turned into Bratt and Co and refusing to sell because she likes the limelight too much.

Gather its been offered and declined.

I believe Donaldson from Autonet offered to purchase 49% but It was declined. Donaldson and Carol are ok about it and the offer stays on the table for perpetuity. There is no rift , Donaldson remains a major sponsor in the club , holds meetings at the club .

If you don’t need to sell, why would you accept an offer. I’m sure in time, it will be the right time to share ownership of the club, but they (if this is true) feel that now isn’t the right time.

We need strikers asap, never mind additional investors.

Thats the point , we need investment (cash) to buy strikers . We wanted the Keeper in the summer who went to Exeter for a better deal . That set the tone for me for the season , that we cant compete with a big club like Exeter . No critisism , just a fact .

It's a worry m8 there's no way we have the mental strength /belief to compete with top 8 /10 in this league .
It's really hard we want the fans come to Vale park then proceed to play that badly that many will walk away .
The slide has started no doubt about it .
The players well have there win bonuses being stopped because I get the impression they have on recent performances.
Smith was in our team when we got relegated from this league before ,seriously do folk think he is good enough for league 1 I don't think so .
Thats one of them mentioned I could go through quite a few of them but not going bother .
Out of all cups.
All better performances away .
I want see players who grace Vale park not half hearted rubbish.
We will be around bottom 6 come end of the season .
Today was abject but you know what hurts the most the players didn't seem too bothered about it yet another defeat at home when crowds are decent .
Sad times again

I like to think I'm realistic in my views of Vale after many, many, years of struggle.

The change at Vale post Christmas is startling, not so long ago the staff (Crosby in particular) was upbeat about 'having-a-go' for the play-offs - games in hand, x3 at home, etc, etc.

There is no smoke without fire sadly with off-field issues and restrictions.

There was a new dynamic with Carol, DF and DC not so long ago.

There is a danger that many fans will walk away certainly when it comes to ST renewal. We currently pay for x4  Strikers and none play (not sure who is paying Matty Taylor's wages tbh).

Have we offloaded Hall, Charsley and Walker for fonancial reasons? All x3 would have started for me yesterday?

It was poor yesterday, p*ss poor and currently reflects the mood about the place.

Do hope I'm wrong. big game Tues. There will be plenty of effort for sure, but..

Glad to see someone else sees it as a fact and not criticism.

Must add that we are suffering a little with the promotion we achieved last year.  Did D C let his heart rule his head when putting this years squad together. I am not one that believes " a player did well so i will give him a chance in league 1" We need players for league 1.

Great start to this season, first half and all looked justified but we have certainly carried some luck and now we have hit the rails. Hope the forwards coming back, if they can stay fit for a month or so, will save us.

This close season has to be a massive clear out of players. Each one replaced with a player on more money. Thats where the investment is needed. Perhaps Carol and Kevin were wrong, it can happen, when their view was to take us to the championship and then look for investment or sale. Perhaps league one is their pinnacle. Cannot fail them for the last three years. Fantastic owners but money is needed to take us forward. Bet you can name 10 teams promoted to league 1 who are struggling after 1 to 3 years being there, to progress. Yes it takes time but mess it up one season and you could be back down. All these teams are no different to the Vale.

Virtually all of the squad at the start of this season still had 12 months of there contract left to run making it very difficult to have a big turnover players for this season but I expect that to happen this summer

We don't need investment for strikers, we currently have 5 on our books.

Keeper didn't go to Exeter due to financial issues, he would only take a 12 month contract. Whether we should have offered him that is debatable but I still think we should have done better with the GK, especially as we'd had 6 months to identify targets.

Personally I think he would be great for the club to have on board, maybe the offer wasn't the amount Carol wanted as i cant see any other reason when she needs investment. Donaldson is massive friends with RW as well which would open up many more investment opportunities imo

Maybe check your facts.  What you need to do is look at the amount of money a “big club like Exeter” have raised from player sales in recent years.

Here’s a good place to start:
