  1. What is the point? Some players will leave, some will stay and we will bring new players in. If we make a scene it won't encourage the ones who stay, won't help with recruitment and the ones who leave won't have a favourable impression of Port Vale to pass on. None of the players have deliberately got us relegated. Carol is aware that things haven't gone to plan and there is no need to rub it in. I have decided just to not go but not make a fuss about it. Up the Vale! 🤠

  3. Spot on. I still think back fondly to players like David Healy and Chris Killen and earlier still Neville Southall who graced the Vale shirt on loan.

  4. Very valid point this. If they do put in the effort will stay until the end. Have no intention of personally doing anything to the detriment of my club.

  5. Reading to liquidate, Cambridge to field 2 ineligibles, Fleetwood and Stevenage win, one of those teams forfeit their ground lease so they’re auto relegated under league rules, Bolton lend us some points for selling them our only defender for magic beans, and perhaps the hardest part to secure … a Vale win. Last chance saloon this.

  6. In the Championship this season there have been 20 managerial changes. The teams placed first to tenth are still with the same manager they started the season with. The other 14 clubs have done the 20 managerial changes. Birmingham changed manager when in sixth place and are now in the relegation zone. So much for new manager bounce eh? For the record Huddersfield were 21st when Darren Moore left and are now in 23rd place. Terriertalk is clinically braindead.

  7. I would agree with that. I have a feeling we'll lose at least one of Garrity and Chislett myself.

  13. Sang is a serial ball watcher whose lack of pace and defensive awareness has cost a goal a game over recent weeks. Opposition managers target him every week as the weakest link in our defence. His only contribution in the other half seems to be to lob a sort of cross field chip from just past the halfway line down the centre halves throat. Sang is in my opinion one of our worst performers of the season. The fact that he replaced Dave Worral says it all about Flitcroft’s transfer policy.

  15. Smith as been poor this season in a lot of games. Not just him and only a few come out with any credit. But you constantly berate him and you can barely write a post without mentioning him, it's obsessive. He did not make himself captain. Played 400 games under different managers who just may know there football a tad better than you. Folk actually find you funny, laughing at you not with you.

  16. It was a pleasure to see him in a Vale shirt and I hope he remembers us as much as we will remember him.

  17. I believe he’s the one to get us bouncing back. I’d be surprised if Garrity and Ripley stay. We will lose Dipepa but would be good to get him loaned back. I think picking through the bones of a poor squad can be done until the start of the season. The youth are great and despite being thrown to the slaughter have done good under the circumstances. take a serious chop of the vast majority of the squad…..pay off some contracts to get rid. Lose Loft and Uche as they are exquisitely expensive and woefully inadequate. Darren is the man to get us back on track. Carol now needs to throw a few ££££ at the team and let the fans believe again. bring it on! We got this next season

  21. All season teams have doubled up on our left and right backs /wing backs and that’s 50% of reason why we went down . Every team knew it was open season around the edges , they addressed it and we never did . It harsh as the only person under the bus for this Is Flitcroft as everyone who plays football knows fullbacks are probably the most important position on the pitch.

  22. He should have cut his toenails on Sunday. It was that close. They can draw all the lines they want , but Coventry were robbed. VAR is a joke.

  23. That was my first thought, but on reflection, I think that would be very disrespectful to Ben and Chis, who both got double figures from midfield in a very poor team. Chis also got ( I think) 7 assists. If only we had 1 striker who could match those figures.

  26. The players haven’t been good enough, but I think the booing should be more directed at the people responsible for putting this shitshow together (I know flitcroft has gone). I think you’re over egging it by saying he’s been a major contributor. He’s been part of it, but there’s been so many things that have happened this season with loads of players out of form, mistakes galore, managers constantly changing line ups and formations, the club not adding good enough players to the squad. We’ve been unsettled all season. But to pick smith out as a major contributing factor is wrong IMO. Remember when you said smith threw Vale games because he’s a Stoke fan? Well that post you’ve just put is up there with that in terms as one of the most stupid and ridiculous things I’ve read on here. How do you get on in day to day life if you come across a stoke fan?

  27. Wow, I think you’ll find that pretty much would disqualify the majority of our support. Particularly those like me who grew up in very Stoke dominated parts of the area. How narrow minded.

  28. So what are you saying all the managers who played him are wrong ? Been going to Vale since 1969 and watched them on 86 grounds but I also have mates/relations who are Stoke fans if that's ok with you. It is a forum and you are allowed a opinion and so am I about the crap you post.

  29. I remember it being said that our policy was to go for Quality rather than Quantity. Did I miss something ? Ok we all know strikers aren't cheap especially ones who actually do their day job and score goals. Every team wants a 15/20 goal a season striker and they attract a wage premium. Surely the combined wages of Uche and Loft could have being better spent on the wages of 1 quality striker whose goal return might have made the crucial difference between relegation and staying up.

  31. Showed a lot more balls than some of those who are our players ! Some of them should be embarrassed that he's being spoke of as player of the season but they won't care.

  36. League 1 to Vale fans was like premiership to Stoke. Me think nothing of buying a season ticket for league 1 both years got one (in fact 2 this last mediocre season ). League 2 well that's a different kettle of fish . All of a sudden we are back to the dirge of that League through neglect . All of a sudden folk have had enough of spending there hard earned on a very poor product, cause that's what it 2nd bottom doesn't lie, and its not false or unlucky it's just downright pathetic . So when folk are going on about we cannot afford get rid of the players who have put us in thst position, I'd think again about that statement as keeping the players could lead to national league. So big summer just being on twitter and there's a lot who are not getting season tickets, so like all relegation there's no happy outcome . You have upset a lot of support Vale players do the right thing hand in your resignation letters and be gone . The next outcome is the most important, make no bones about it thst retained list is going be scrutinised ,and every player is going be in my opinion rightly going be accountable for our relegation so why should we as season ticket holders put faith in them who have failed us .

  37. I’ve used that flexi ticket a couple of seasons in the past. It’s a good idea & very useful to those who can’t guarantee to make any more games. For me personally my ideal amount of home games I’d like to & can possibly attend is around 8-10 games so perfect. As for Uche, I like his assets but he’s so unpredictable, unfit & doesn’t score so I’d be looking to release him next season. I wouldn’t be too unhappy if he stayed as a back up as I do think he would be a major handful in league 2 & he gives us something different that we don’t currently have but certainly would be yet another poor transfer window if he’s a starter & then there is his wages to consider which won’t be at the lower end of our squad which we could free up to get someone better in

  39. I can’t see on what possible grounds anyone could argue to keep Uche. Let’s be honest he’s brings very little to us. Being unable to play more than 60 minutes a game doesn’t speak to being a professional either. Don’t tell me that was due to injury either, that was a shoulder he hurt. Nothing was stopping him doing some cardio on a exercise bike at the least.

  40. Port Vale FC has a long history of bouncing up and (sadly) down in the lower divisions. Here’s some of the seasons where Vale have bounced back strongly after suffering relegation. 1929-30 It was a long time ago which means it’s often overlooked but the 1929-30 season was one of the more remarkable in the […] The post Five of the best – Port Vale comeback seasons after suffering relegation appeared first on onevalefan.co.uk. 42. Spot on He wasn't bothered about being relegated and neither were the players cause they all had a ready made excuse DAVID FLITCROFT . He be getting blame for it yet in that period when banging 3 goals in every home game under Crosby (something we haven't done with Moore)he should have being getting praised as you could see that Devine had settled and was ready push Vale, on he left ,Uche got injured and bad attitudes and sulking cannot be arsed players was the outcome resulting in flitcroft getting it from majority (not me may I add as I knew the players would use DF as a ready made excuse for losing games once DF was fired ). That's how it turned out you cannot tell me any different I've seen it with my own eyes . A surrender of league 1 football . A embarrassment to the faithful loyal and hardcore Port Vale 23 /24

  44. Conversely, we loved Clarke because he won games, not because he was aggressive in his interviews with someone just doing their job. I really don't think Moore's interview technique becomes a topic of conversation if we start winning games again.

  45. All of those mentioned, apart from Sang, are on over 2k a week. Somehow we’ve got to ship them out. To have players who can’t cut it in league 2, on 2k plus a week, is a recipe for disaster. Thankyou Mr. Flitcroft and Thankyou Mrs Shanahan for this total mess. She has a hell of a summer rebuild because of her inability to keep her eye on the ball. It is what it is.

  46. Adam Yates hit the nail on the head. When you’ve got players on 100k+ a year like we have, who are under contract for next season, and not just a small amount of players either, then you’ve got to find clubs for them. And when those clubs offer them 50k a year, they will stay here and take their wage! And I don’t blame the player. Flitcrofts mess that Carol couldn’t see. So there’s a huge chance we could go into next season with the majority of this squad and the kids (who won’t be physically good enough for league two). So, I have to say, the timing of todays announcement regarding STs was very strange. Because if people are going to fork out over 300 quid to watch this shower of <ovf censored>, then they must be on another planet or just want to virtue signal because they’ve bought a season ticket. There should have been thought and a proper marketing plan after the <ovf censored> of a season but they’ve even got that wrong! Good luck with selling 2500. Plus almost empty away ends week in week out.
