  1. Responsible for everything that touches the pitch but accountable for none of it.

  2. I don’t hate him, I just think he hasn’t been very good at the most important part of his job.

  3. I haver never heard Pope's interview or have any knowledge of the content. However the reasons I wish he would leave the club are as Follows. Out of interest is there anywhere I can get to listen to it. 1. He came to interview for a managers job, yet managed to sweet talk himself into a job that didn't exist at the time. Very nice salesman, yet I feel he conned Carol into creating an unnecessary post. 2. He previously managed Bury and was at the helm when he spent out on wages and transfers that he must have known they must have been financially unsustainable for the club. Still he got a promotion on his CV and Bury went bust. 3. It appears he has now decided on what the permanent style of play this club shall play. Even though it has failed badly for the last 2 years. 4. He has been in charge of recruitment for the past 2 seasons and it has been a complete disaster. Our team ended up being propped up by 2 on loan teenagers this season. In the last transfer window all the other teams managed to sign permanent transfers to improve their squads except us. It seems we didn't even have any targets. And to be scrambling about in the final hour was amateurish to say the least. 5. Take a good look at our current squad. Our bench is largely made up of not ready teenagers. The squad is so thin it is laughable. All this is down to David Flitcroft. He has failed miserably in his role. He has to go. I just hope our new manager is able to go his own way with formations, style of play, players etc. Sent from my SM-A528B using onevalefan mobile app

  4. Today summed it up for me. Cheltenham have a crap ground with a small fan base, a poor training facility, poor hospitality and a dodgy pitch, and yet the most important part of the whole set up is the head coach and the 11 players kicking the football about. Last time I looked it said Port Vale football club at the main entrance and David Flitcroft is at the head of that...

  5. The trouble here is that Flitcroft has created a job so unique to him self that Carol will be thinking how she could possibly replace him. The mumbojumbo that comes out of his mouth is mesmerising, the fact is no one else could do his job because he has created it in his image. He doesn’t care about us fans, in fact he only has to carry on and impress one person, that being Carol. There is no other person in the club she could turn to, certainly not Rudgie, nearing 80, for any football club advice. I was amused by his almost Kremlinesque interview, with the media lad reiterating how busy Flitcroft is etc. Campus, football services, latitudinal progression, foo foo dust.

  6. The strange thing is we have had two diabolical Jan transfer windows, not replaced key players, and openly stated we didn’t have the money for suitable strikers, which will ultimately cost us our L1 status. But we have paid Crosbys team off. Then bought in DM and his team, which is a lot of money for a L2 bound team. Would it not made financial sense to purchase a striker?

  7. No doubt part of his new contract negotiations. Nice to see Chris Wilder is a man of his word (keeping him with the first team squad rather than sending out on another loan). Good luck to the young man, though it’s a near certainty he’ll take to the PL like a duck to water. Just a moment... WWW.THESTAR.CO.UK

  8. I’m probably in the minority here and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think DF comes across as honest and knowledgeable in the latest podcast. Yes he has the spiel but in modern football I think, in his position, you have to. I really don’t agree with him getting personal abuse and whoever the perpetrators need to take a look at themselves and think how they’d like to be on the receiving end of it in their job. Carol sees far more of him than any fan and sets his objectives so if she’s happy with him th then so am I. Personally he’s exceeded my expectations in getting DM as Manager and I hope it’s enough to keep us up. I’ll be there next season regardless but I do think the club has moved forward massively off the pitch they now need to match this progress off it and for that there needs to be unity throughout the club. 9. What hatred? disappointment and Criticism yes but not hatred. He's the guy who tells us he's in charge of all that goes on that's football related and we can see that's not going as it should, since we are staring at imminent relegation. It's all about the performance on field and you can't blame Pope, me or anyone else for criticising that. Especially as we are clearly now in a relegation battle. I wish it were otherwise but it isn't.

  10. It’s very clear that transfer dealings over 3 windows have totally shafted us and barring a miracle will result in our relegation, with all the financial implications. There’s no escaping who is responsible. If and when we’re mathematically down then Carol will have to take action. It’s quite obvious what that will entail. It won’t be a new manager.

  11. Our hierarchy seems remarkably chill about the results side of things.

  12. I can only judge people as I find so I'll be honest, I don't understand where all this hatred for the bloke comes from off fans. OK some of the transfer activity as been crap with regards to Stikers ect, but he can only spend what Carol gives him. H The prob I think for him, is some fans will always be up Pope's backside and so once Pope did that interview slatting Flitcroft he's always been onto a loser.

  13. Bottom line is, Flitcroft has assembled this abysmal squad and must take sole responsibility. As for the plaudits that he's got for attracting DM, we wouldn't have needed him if Flittcroft hadn't decimated and weakened the squad. All that hard work and progress is now warm, yellow and running down the wall in the form of a long thin stream.

  14. In reality, this podcast was what it was always going to be: A carefully rehearsed spin exercise, done when a positive decision has been made to focus on that, covering the same old ground. If we get relegated, no doubt there will be further faith placed in him because he was at the club during the previous promotion. Who at the club, other than Carol, is Flitcroft answerable to?

  15. Stop talking sense. Carol will get you banned if you attack him. Do as queen and king say and shut up and accept their methods. Thats more or less what she told us all in her pathetic open letter.

  18. Emailed the Derby ticket office. They have confirmed that the upper tier is safe standing and the lower tier is seating. So if you want to stand up you know where to go!!

  19. Carlisle, Fleetwood and ourselves are gone, we have no character and fight in that team, Cheltenham have a bucket load of it and will get out of it which will be an amazing achievement after 2 points from the first 12 games. For me Shrewsbury will join us in league 2 next year.

  20. I'm afraid that football is a results business, that's the nature of the beast, so by that reckoning DF has to be responsible, the DoF's position must be at risk if/when we get relegated, allowing the striker situation to get in to the state it is should be enough for a resignation.

  22. Maybe it's because flitcrofts recruitment has been absolutely shyt# and he seems more interested in better training facilities over better players that's why we are P####d off

  28. I judge people as I find them too, but I judge employees on performance and his has fallen massively short, as displayed by the main KPI, namely, the league table, which is determined by the product on the field.

  29. I am now resigned to being League 2 ready . Yes , I am angry with over 80% of vale supporters knowing what is wrong at our club, but being taken for idiots and totally ignored by our Carol . The recruitment over 3 transfer windows by DF is tragic and laughable . DF was told we needed strikers but let strikers go instead --Ellis Harrison and Matty Taylor were at the club but left with no replacements . I cannot understand how Carol can write a letter in praise of kryptonite . Any other appointment would have done a better job --she completely ignores his OBVIOUS FAILURES and it is now 4 staff leaving due to DF recruitment putting them on mission impossible . The penny will soon drop with DM --then what ?.

  34. There can be no other option. Her letter was a plea, which in fairness to Carol we should answer. We desperately need to stay up and personally I will back the team 100% until we’re down, at which point Carol can’t blame anyone else other than terrible recruitment over 3 transfer windows which has actually cost 2 managers their jobs and lands squarely at the door of the DoF. Even if we stay up, financially it’s cost us as we’ve paid off 2 managers and all their staff balanced against the cost of a good striker or two. Changing the manager has bought time buts results on the pitch will decide how much time that is.

  38. Spot on. It's fine to go after your "A Grade" strikers and not get them if you already have some other "A/B/C Grade" strikers at the club. I'm not even sure we have "F Grade" strikers. Relying on someone with weetabix for legs, a 16 year old, and someone that hasn't scored a league goal since October 2022 is utter lunacy!

  42. I agree. Of course it was cheaper to bring in a decent striker but the direction of this club from our director of football has been baffling and clueless.

  43. Are we allowed to suggest it might not be a bad idea to ask our Director of Football to move on to his next challenge again yet? Sarcasm apart, someone needs to be accountable for the situation. It may not be entirely his fault but as we keep being told he's in charge of all things football, then he's failing badly. We must ensure our survival in this Division and that means considering any available options. This simply can't go on.

  48. Weirdly quiet response to the podcast, which I personally found very illuminating. Really sad to hear how the abuse has affected DF and also his family. Nobody deserves that just from trying to do their job.
