He should of done better than he did but it didn't cost us luckily. Hopefully a blip . Concerns have been about his kicking when out of goal not his shot stopping so let's give him leeway.

Loved Brown but last year he definitely cost us points against Walsall and Cheltenham , so far I'd argue Lucas cost us maybe the opportunity of a point at Northampton and that's it.

Personally it was such a melee and scrap of bodies I don't hold him responsible for the Sutton winner .

Yes I get he's not exempt from criticism but I think the words from Clarke will suffice surely .

He's had some good games and when people are even questioning had he even made a save of note it's ridiculous.

He's sponsored by us give the guy a break. He'll learn and move on.

I agree completely and I'll also add that it's been a long time since we've had a keeper so comfortable coming and claiming crosses as him.  This in itself reduces the number of opportunities the opposition have to score.

Yeah, but Phil is making a very fair point that while no one is actively waiting for Wilson to fluff something, unfortunately there's a few about who just can't let it go regarding Covolan and are poised ready for him to make a mistake. I'm not saying you are but it's all over that daft facebook group, and was aired on P&G yesterday.

That's just how it is though. We were only 17 odd minutes into this 46 game season when the anti Clarke/Flitcroft abuse started at Northampton remember. I remember it well because I was stood in front of three muppets at it for about 80 minutes of the game, it does your head in listening to that constant negative drivel. DC has said in a few interviews now that he's a good manager up until he loses two games and then he's crap and he's right, some of us are too fickle. Won 7/8 in a row last season, won 6 out of the last 8 this season, there's a few around who need to hold their hands up instead of disappearing to try to save face. Again not you.

This. 100%

Its the psyche of the football fan in general, but I do think the vale are particularly bad at it.

We revel in targeting one of our own players.

Still think the wall should have been better definitely need to improve on that . Could we have a player lying down as is the case now. Anyway we won that’s the most important thing then iron out these little weakness as we go
I really don't understand the point of having players lying down behind the wall.

In all my time watching football I have only ever seen about 4 occasions when someone has successfully managed to score by going under the wall.

Admittedly not every player in the wall jumps but even if they did I think the skill to hit the ball under the wall with enough power on to trouble the keeper is far greater than curling one in over the top.

If someone manages to smash one in under the wall then it should just be treated as a great strike that little could be done about similarly to one that is curved over the wall into the top corner.

Come on Doha that cant be right surely.....RZ told us he was a bully and how poor his man management was....we can ask him when he errrmmm next appears

I understand that he, and a number of other posters, are currently offline convalescing from knee replacement surgery

I am still here, I don't feel the need to keep putting myself in the firing line for having a different opinion to the happy clappers.

I don’t think anyone is knocking Covolan as such, but I’m also struggling to understand the reluctance to give Stone a go. When we signed both it wasn’t immediately obvious (to me at any rate) who would be No 1, given Cov, whilst more experienced, has spent most of his career in Non-League whereas Stone has more FL appearances. I have a feeling Mansfield might be the game with it being his old club, because if he can’t get up for that game he never will.

All of us have different opinions and are free to express them. Nobody has knocked you for that. It's your insistence on pushing your original opinion despite all of the evidence to the contrary that people give you stick for

Straight at him, cov pushed it into the corner. No debate that it’s his error me for me, even DC said so.

It’s fair to criticise an error like that surely? DC has said he has to do much better. Personally I think he does need to improve, the last 3 games we have conceded 3 goals I would expect him to save. If we can criticise Wilson every time he misses a chance it’s only fair to criticise the keeper when he lets one straight at him in.

In fairness to Cov it deflected off the wall, you can hear it on the youtube highlights. Perhaps he should have saved it but the deflection made it much more difficult.

Irrespective of deflection he got his hands to the ball comfortably but had weak hands. Could have punched?  As DC said it was a mistake. However at 2-1 he made a very brave stop at a forwards feet as the ball came in from the bye line.  So as his mistake didn't cost us let's move on and look forward.

Its hard these days being a Vale fan with very little to moan at. Let's have the days back when you could stand in the Paddock and a bad defeat would guarantee an increased attendance at the next home game!! Lol.
