Players in and out

Rampant Zebra

And anyone who actually believes the £100k bid, is living in cloud cukoo land. The prob with Smurf, he forgets what he comes out with and he also forgets people have sources in high up positions in other clubs.

I would hope and like to think his new toy Nuneaton will give him the craving/attention he desires and hopefully in turn leave vale in good hands, however the fact the ticket office have to put to him the query re:10 game tickets means he still has his fingers on all buttons totally missing out any middle management who cant do anything other than refer.

Overall a positive summer & Credit to the owner backing Aspin for the players we have got in early however a lot of owners do this as standard especially in the clubs budget with others stretching this further, just hope all the signings click and we hit the ground running then next year build again..

PS any owner bashing as its been called to date has been justified has we have only eve regressed on/off the pitch-hopefully the corner has been turned and lesson learned and the positivity on/off pitch is maintained but a lot of water is still to go under the bridge

Well, Smurf has made many, many mistakes. He has clearly not been in the public eye before, judging by his lack of PR skills.

He's also a maverick and self believer beyond belief!

My hope is that he is bright enough to learn from his mistakes.

His actions over the past 9 months are possibly giving birth to this possibility 🙂

You've no chance of that he's been a **** since he left school so he isn't going to change any time soon his god is money and he's been drawn to Nuneaton purely for that reason, a leopard doesn't change it's spots as they will find out soon enough. You can see how he's milked the vale and dragged us down to the level we are at 1 point from oblivion, norm has form just accept it.

Well said!!

I fear a comment like that is WAY too sensible and grounded in maths and facts for some on here buddy!

The sensible posts are the ones shocked at Mansfield going absolutely mad with their money, not demanding that we bid for anything that moves because we have got £2m odd coming in transfer fees (have we even received it all yet?).

Didn't work for them last season with plenty of money 'invested' and a proven manager. I'm more than happy with our transfer business and the knowledge that we've likely got funds in reserve, to possibly strengthen in January is a very positive place to be.

It seems to be lost on Doha that we're almost certainly paying higher wages to the better standard of players we have signed.

It's not all about ridiculous transfer fees.

To be fair to them if Evans had stuck around they'd have probably gone up, or at least comfortably made playoffs. They fell apart after he left.

Regal, we haven’t always agreed, but you have always been a sensible and calm poster.

I don’t think Doha is saying anything other that Aspin has used the budget on less players therefore allowing him to pay higher wages.

I agree that Mansfield have paid over the odds... I think it’s nuts.

But I also don’t think we can sit back and say Norman has reinvested significant amounts of the transfer funds the club has coming in.

Miller would have cost less than £50k at a guess given their chairman admitted he was desperate to get rid. The undisclosed nature of the fee allows both chairmen to claim a win.

Let’s say miller is on £2k a week which is good money coming from us... when added to a £50k sign on that’s £154,000 assuming he gets paid that for 52 weeks rather than for just the season (something I have never understood about football contracts).

Given the inflows from the sold players (hugil instalments, Alnwick, grant, youth teamer sold for £150k)... all that’s being suggested is that, although that’s a good start, it doesn’t make up for his stupid decisions.

That’s the baseline I expect from the owner/custodian of our club.

And providing average performance doesn’t make up for being the cause of such underperformance just yet...

A few more years of not making stupid decisions (no one need me to repeat them) and he will start to make amends.

I’m just so so so fearful that he doesn’t have it in him not to interfere because “he knows better than everyone else”. When he doesn’t. Clearly.

More likely the possibility that Smurf would give birth after 9 months

As I've said before Norm Has Form, money is his god and the pursuit of it has sent businessmen mental before now so you never know what will happen with him when the plans go titsup.
