Williamson had 22 starts, pope 18 , cant find a decent website for stats though to be honest.

How many of them starts has he played the full 90? So no I'm not making up my own stats, he was injured after 33 minutes yesterday but yet that still counts as 1 start.

If there are any truths in the Pope rumours wonder if any possibility has been explored as to selling Tom and having him stay here on loan until end of season? Other clubs do this so why not us? At least if Norm is certain Tom is going at the end of this campaign we could use him now whilst we try and seek alternative options and also get a fee for him? Not saying by the way we should offload him, just exploring possibilities to suit all parties?

There wouldn't be any point someone paying for him in that case as he's out of contract. He could just sign a pre-contract agreement.

Why is it laughable? Iam not saying Williamson is better than Pope, what I find laughable is people like you come on here wanting the club to pay an arm and a leg for a player who has had one great season for the club.

 

The fact remains Williamson has contributed to more goals than Popey this season. The fact remains that although Popey has been out for 3 months that up until 1 month ago they had both played exact same minutes.

 

The fact remains that Williamson has scored more goals than Pope and has more assists than Pope, yet let's keep paying Pope a fortune. That's laughable, I know you have an infatuation with Pope, but IMO and I mean MY opinion I don't think Popey is worth it.

I think you may find that one of Ben's goals has been chalked off as an OG but you can add that to his assists I suppose if I'm correct.

He will do, but he isnt as good as people make him out to be.

And yes you are correct Pope will score more goals, but that's only because he will start every match from now till the end of the season and Willo will be dropped. Against Barnsley for example Pope isn't fit enough to start and won't be for a while but because it's Pope he will start every single match and play the full 90.

I doubt very much if the plan was for Pope to play the full 90 at Barnsley, but with the injury to Willo and no other striker on the bench, we had little option.

If we're getting money for a near 30 year old coming off the back off a 3 month injury with only 6 months left on a deal we can't afford to extend then fair enough.

If he goes then good luck to the lad, yes the Club will miss him but it is clear that he will go in the summer rather than face a large paycut, he has done the club proud in his time here, he only has a few years left in the game so go and secure your families future.... I have worked for a company for the last 17 years and have no desire to leave, but if a rival company offered me a substancial pay rise......I would go...wouldn't you?
