  1. If he has played his last game for the club , I shall remember his goals at Exeter and Swindon which got us to wembley , where he scored again of course . He was a sublime player , had the ability to play at championship level , but something was lacking somewhere , cant put my finger on it though . Best wishes for the future James .

  2. Valid question - how did it come to this? I stood in Cambridge Utd's pothole strewn car park this week, watching my car being washed and looking around at the portakabins, occasional skip and other assorted junk, not to mention their second rate ground and asked myself the very same question. This season, in addition to Okenabirhie, Cambridge added Ahadme (top scorer on loan from Ipswich), Kachunga, Kaikai and Lyle Taylor. These five have scored 33 goals for them in 128 appearances, goals that look virtually certain to keep them up. Last game, ironically, they put three past Wigan. Cambridge have smaller attendances than we do - and I infer, a smaller budget - and yet they had seemingly little difficuly in adding forwards to their squad having lost Smith and Knibbs to Reading in the summer. So we are entitled to ask some searching questions about striker recruitment. Cambridge are a well managed club, a community club, and they have an unrelenting focus on what happens on the pitch first and foremost. To me, therefore, our owners have got to have a serious look at where their priorities lie. This season may be too late (let's hope and pray not) but next season needs a complete change of focus. If not, we can expect more of the same.

  3. Spot on lad the striker issue is baffling one , I believe the F word aimed to,high and went after championship standard strikers and was out bid , he said he went after the top striker in League 2 and was out bid . Really stinks all that does you can smell ode de bull coming from his mouth . but even more puzzling was the choice to play wing back system and recruiting one who has hardly played , then not recruiting at least 2 as cover . The whole process the F word implemented in respect of strikers + wing backs was faitally flawed . I believe Carol or Matt needs to explain the recruitment shortfalls which ultimately has caused our relegation to league two

  4. 1,400+ Valiants tomorrow. I salute your dedication to the cause. Absolutely incredible support after the last 12 months - more than 20% of our average total home gate and I dare say more than 25% of our average home support.

  5. Exactly my point , its not on the facebook page either , it would only take five minutes to update both . Its getting to the point where if you arent on twitter you dont count . This is not good customer service , when the club are openly saying they need to improve communication .

  6. Oh yeah! That's what I should do everytime I need to find out about Vale news, put in Port Vale twitter in google. Much more simpler that is than going on Port Vales official website or facebook page or instagram page

  7. He only scored 4 goals in 27 games last season. This season he has only scored 3 or 4 goals and missed about 3 months due to injury again. Yes he did well in the 2021/2022 season in league 2 but I'd be releasing him, not even worth a pay as you play deal either.

  8. Damn and blast, always more hope of a goal when he was on the field, the most skillful forward we have and likely to create something out of nothing. He will be a big miss for the run in.

  9. It's the hope that kills you. Fair play to all travelling up.

  10. He said "the website" clearly meaning the official site. The club restricting the release of information to a third party bot and spam filled social media site that you have to sign up to see anything isn't a very good idea.

  12. We let our top scorer go and did not replace with an equivalent. Then resigned a forward we know is injury prone and does not score enough anyway at L1 level - panic resigning at that. Brought in a reserve striker from rival club Bristol Rovers who they let go obviously because he does not score enough. Brought in another striker who is similar to what we had - big, strong, but who was months away from fitness. Did give opportunity to Dipepa but although he's ready now, he wasn't at the start of the season. None of this is good at all. We've ended up with a platoon for attackers who don't score enough goals but the evidence to indicate that would be the case was very present in historical records. Fair dues, Chislett showed promise quickly and Garrity was a good retention. But in the present moment, it's not over until the fat lady sings. With better organisation we may still have enough to stay up.

  14. In Sinai, Moses first encountered God in the form of a burning bush. "I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt". God's voice called out to him (Exodus 3.7). God then charged Moses to lead the Israelites out of bondage and bring them to the Promised Land. That went well? Anyway, I'm God for the weekend and I'm charging Darren Moore to lead the players out of Wigan after he's managed them to get 3 points.

  15. Massey likes to point and wave when he loses the ball. He’s only in it for the money. You’ll never see him get injured, because he doesn’t want to tackle anyone. The sooner the Summer comes , the better regarding him. Anyway , Wigan may be our best chance at 3pts . I doubt we will get anything at Peterborough or Bolton. It’s not over yet . UTV

  16. It shows how bad we are when we’re relying on uchi to get us goals how did the owners let it come to this

  17. I still think he’s creating more than the other options. That isn’t great granted. But I don’t think now is the time to drop our 2nd top scorer / player with most assists. When the alternative is someone like Weir, Chislett for me has to start

  18. To be fair to Sang and Grant they are not fullbacks or wingbacks, but neither is Plant . Suppose it demonstrates the mess DF created and Moore is having to sort .

  19. So your mates have dumped Man Utd now there <ovf censored> and jumped on leek towns success 😳 You were on about Wigan not sending our tickets early enough and questioning that’s it’s vales fault not wether it’s entertaining or not I ordered 2 Wigan tickets online and will somehow have get down there before Saturday to collect them unless I sit on here all week questioning why vale park staff ain’t dropped them off at my house for me

  21. Be careful what you wish for? He’s scored 7 goals in two years.

  22. Think he'll be released ( again). Still probably played twice the amount of games of a certain ' defender ' who still has a year left . A very gifted player blighted by injury at Vale but played a big part in us getting promotion and gave us that goal at Derby .

  25. Main problem with recruitment and ultimately a striker may have been many overlooked because they did not fit our style of one dimensional play and the so called matrix.

  26. So it looks like it's the last we have seen of Wilson in a Vale shirt now,so it's back to the old striker hunt,we will have Loft and Dipepa(unless a big bid comes in) so dependant on how he wants to play next season we are going to need 3 more strikers in that's for sure

  27. Too many shots off target and worst of all he injures the spectators.

  28. Get gone 👋🏻 Never forget his league 2 heroics but my god he’s struggled at this level & more injuries than Darren Anderton 🏥

  29. I think that is really sad news about a great player but I fear we won’t see him again in a vale shirt as his consistent run of injuries mean they probably won’t offer him a new contract at the end of the season and that means there is too much pressure on ikpaezo who in my professional opinion as a podiatrist has been rushed back too quickly

  31. This Exeter side who I'm reading are on the beach, is this the same Exeter who came from a goal behind at Cheltenham the other day ? Wouldn't mind a bit of that beach.

  32. The club use all social media platforms including their very own website. I can not see what the issue is why they would not put the information on all their social media tools available at their finger tips to cover all the supporter base. Makes no sense whatsoever that they have just used twitter to relay a message regarding the club

  35. You say Massey ( Lionel I like to call him) is not a traditional winger. What is his best position? It’s not as a forward were he played as a lone striker. It’s not a wingback, he can’t tackle. But with nearly 400 league appearances he must be good somewhere. His and Grants underwhelming performances must be an underlying statement throughout the squad. These two are senior players, setting an example. Why oh why do they still earn a living playing football?

  36. I'm not sure I agree with this Cheltenham are out of form that people have been saying, they have had 15 points from the last 11 games, nearly 1.5 points a game. In the last 4, they had a bad result on Saturday against Exeter but had a couple of awful penalty decisions go against them, won away to a Fleetwood side who battered us for one a half games, got a point away to Barnsley and concded an 88th minute winner away to Oxford, they are battling like anything. In the next 4 they have Orient, Bristol Rovers and Burton, all for me very winnable, we have just taken 7 points from those games, none of those 3 looked any good,on top of that a game against Carlisle at home, I hope I am wrong but feel Cheltenham will get a good points tally. We have to gain 10 points minimum to have any hope I feel. I thought Cambridge were in the mix until those last 2 results, for me Saturday is huge and we have to get something, I do think Burton will go, they had nothing when we played then, think a shoot-out between us and Cheltenham for that one spot.

  37. I think 10 points from 6 games has a good chance of staying up. 9 of those points can come from home wins. That will equal last season's total when we finished 18th. Just at the minute Cambridge and Reading have matched our last three results preventing us gaining ground despite winning two games. Cambridge are at Blackpool and Reading at home to Lincoln. If we can win going to 42 points and they lose, then they come back within plausible reach. Cheltenham are at Orient and I hope that does for them as Orient are due a result after a run of tough games. Burton seem to be in freefall and we need to hope their parachute doesn't open. But it is all about us. We need to go to Wigan and win. We can do it if we keep the backdoor shut. Imagine Burton lose, Cheltenham lose and PV win. PV then 5th bottom 2 points above Burton with a game in hand. Cheltenham then 4 points behind and desperate to win their game in hand. It can change quickly, but we must do the business.

  39. I think we'll pick up 7pts at most and lose out to Cheltenham to stay up, which shows how dreadful we've been this season as Cheltenham hadn't even scored a goal in the first 25% of the season never mind win a game. We've been massively let down with recruitment, and even players released that shouldn't have been.

  40. My rose tinted glasses indicate a massive 2-1 win for the mighty Whites. Obviously this depends on us getting the first goal as I am struggling to think of us coming back from a goal down all season.

  41. Vale have put messages out throughout this , explaining that they had not got the tickets and have been waiting on Wigan to forward them. Also said that as soon as they were available they would make it known , this is exactly what they have done . If people choose to ignore this and randomly turn up to collect something that they’ve been informed is not there how is this Vale’s fault ? Of course there always has to be some people it doesn’t suit but hey why let facts get in the way when they’re constantly looking for something to whinge about 🙄 UTV

  42. Apart from basically the first month of the season which performances will still debatable, Crosby was dire all the way through Plant never got injured until the start of December and Crosby hardly picked Clarke even when he was fit & available

  43. Our manager has turned out most productive attacker in Chislett,to a bit part player stuck out on the wing tracking back and trying to tackle. We've scored 8 goals with a minus 10 goal difference in 11 games. Chislett has completed 90 minutes only twice and come off the bench 3 times. I honestly think we've got worse under Moore

  48. Wilsons a ok player . Still think he was going through motions in most games yet last fri he seemed more at it than usual then he gets injured says it all really. We thank him for his efforts though at times he as shone but in my opinion not enough times especially in L1 . Wish well at next club All the best to him never forget league 2 campaign he was excellent but league 1 too much of a step up for him along with many others in fact list be very small for players who have stepped up.
