  1. CAFC fan here. Enjoyed all the comments on Uche, all very helpful. He's coming into us as 4th/5th choice IMO, but whilst we have players injured we need a focal point for a more direct playing style that Appleton wants to implement. Through that lens it looks like a good signing. Would be underwhelmed if he was coming in as the main man to build around next season. He is coming in as we have Leaburn and Aneke out injured. JCH and Ladapo were both on our radar and I think that was more of an either or as opposed to Uche being a target because we didn't get JCH. A back up should we lose May to injury. Fingers crossed you lot get the fire-power you need over the next couple of weeks and best of luck for the second half of the season.

  2. Why would she want to take us to back to the away followings of Harrogate and Crawley instead of Derby and Portsmouth? Why would she want lower crowds and lower turnover? I read some <ovf censored> on here and that's right up there with the most stupid.

  3. Agree. The booing of both him and Massey is shameful and pathetic.

  4. 1) She bought the club at an inflated price to save it. 2) it's not your money to spend. 3) cash isn't the only way to succeed.

  6. Yep, we want fewer players from L2 like Chislett and do more business like Burton and Lincoln did in the summer with Cole Stockton and Tyler Walker. We won't have been touting Uche around trying to flog him, but if a Charlton come in who obviously have £500k burning a hole in their pocket and can pay double the wages, (much higher income, richer owners, more success over last 25 years), offering us a fee for a player with only 6 month on their contract who will no doubt be more than happy to head back to London on double the wages after a brief sojourn in Burslem, then how do we stop that? Port Vale FC is not football, we do not control everything. I'm not doing us down with the 'little old Port Vale' bit, but the reality is we are a small cog in a much bigger machine, with Carol, DF, AC and everybody else at the club doing what they can to optimise our position, which has objectively improved over the last few years.

  7. I lost interest in the big leagues a long time ago, and don't use Twitter either! Ah well, you learn something every day. If hes reported it he will have had confirmation from people in the know so id probably suggest gore will be announced tomorrow as he doesnt tweet rumours . Another cracking loan signing and shows big teams are trusting us with there best talents. A lot has been said about flickers but before he came in vale would have never been able to attract this level of loan signing. Excellent work from all involved 🙌🏻

  8. Why is it underwhelming to have a promising youngster contracted until 2026? I'd say it's great news. Get Lomax and Shorrock signed up next!

  9. He's also a big problem for the poor buggers sitting in the stands behind the goals.

  10. Some ridiculous posts today 🙈 The one where Carol cashes in whenever she can by someone who don’t go the games is unbelievable

  11. Someone posted earlier about uche not being a sulker and I would tend to agree, he seems a really honest pro, hopefully just crack on.

  14. Jesus your sense of entitlement is overwhelming. How much money do you expect someone to spend (with no realistic hope of return) for your entertainment? Put into perspective 12m = 34,000 years of buying a season ticket!

  17. Sad to see Uche go, as seems to be the case. He brings loads of energy and enthusiasm and is highly entertaining to watch in my opinion. We looked to be building a team around his strengths too, so there will be another change of style. I wish him well, and hope we bring in a viable replacement 🙏

  18. Look at massey now he's doing an alright job. But why would a player like massey or loft want to stay after that. Vale fans need to improve there attitude and get behind the players that are having a hard time. There is a reason ollie and alfie enjoyed we got behind them because they are brilliant to watch. Players like loft or massey sometimes need time.

  19. Awful comment in my view, perhaps you'd rather have Smurf back ?

  20. What an insane take. The guy is 29 almost, not 19. He's not suddenly going to improve his shooting after all these years. He is and will always be rubbish in front of goal. His career proves that.

  21. If he does go today - to Wycombe - could he conceivably line up against us on Saturday? Tbh, that would be a hard pill to swallow after his recent performances that have changed our attacking style, making it more direct, less tippy-tappy and much more entertaining. Whatever happens, if a deal is in the offing, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him left out after all the interest that has allegedly been shown in him, making the pill even more bitter with Loft his obvious immediate replacement. Personally, I’d like him to stay not least because we are just starting to show some really potent attacking play rather than our insipid side to side passing approach. For all his faults, Uche is one player opposition teams will always struggle to contain.

  23. the triumph and agony of it all - I was upset that Uche was going, but now disappointed he may be staying - who'd be a vale fan 🙈🙈🙈🙈

  24. Practice! he's nearly 29. How much more time does he need. At this rate he will be a grandad before he can hit the target.😁

  25. I agree. I think he has more to offer but if you were getting booed by your own fans how would you feel I don't think people know how psychological football can be.

  26. No, I was deliberately winding you up because I felt like it...

  27. Thats ultra harsh IMO. I have no data to back this up, but would bet heavily that Carol and the family have invested way way more than they have recouped and that this is not a vanity / asset stripping project as we have seen under Norman in the past. Money in where it is possible to be invested in other areas where necessary is normal business and Carol is clearly balancing the short term losses against longer term gain through investment. If hypothetically the club can make a 100k on a player, bring one in for a 50k and invest 50k into better facilities, surely thats good management?

  28. Mike Baggaley suggests Vale are keen on Gore but any move would take time. So I suspect he may be later in the window if at all. I can't see it being Dale Taylor as he's still on loan. He'd have to be recalled but he's doing well at Wycombe so why would Forest bother? It's not in their interests. Their priority is to develop him and get him game time. Why risk moving him when he appears settled, in form and playing? I can see the logic in bringing in Young though, presuming the asking price isn't stupid. Take a chunk of the fee off with what we get for Uche and bring in a younger player with potential. From what I've read Young is pacy with a great shot and can play upfront by himself or as a partnership. The main criticism appears to be work rate off the ball, pressing etc but I guess Vale may think they can work on that. At our level you're never gonna get the complete player anyhow.

  29. Dan Gore will make Alfie Devine look like Kevin Steggles !!! If we get this over the line hats off to Flickers Crosby and Carol.

  30. Uche better sign for Charlton now so I can stop seeing the most bizarre posts on here claiming that he's worth £300k to £500k and that he's probably the best striker outside the championship. Is everybody on here taking cocaine all of a sudden

  31. Gore? Don't care how good who is if it's a loan. We need permanent signings only, no matter how crap they are, provided that they're ours and we're liable to pay their wages for at least 18 months [emoji6]

  34. It gives me the impression that we are not convinced by our current forward line and want to improve it. For all of the faults at the club (I agree that it isn't perfect) I have never once got the impression that we want to go down so that we can celebrate coming back up - thats a mad statement!

  35. Where the signings? I know it's cold but get your arses in the tea room and sign those papers. Been sitting here dong in hands since this morning ready for when we announce Young and Gore.

  38. How's this for size...?? It was reported that we offered £100k for Jake Young, but they wanted £200k and the deal fizzled out. We get £100k for Uche and the Young deal is back on...??

  39. I don't think that's necessarily the case. A gut feeling but first of all Uche doesn't strike me as one to sulk. You could also argue that playing well for Vale for the rest of the season suits his interests. He's getting fitter and fitter with more gametime, playing games puts him in the spotlight and gives him more chance of a decent move in the summer if that's what he wants. The flipside is if he sulks and gets dropped then there's potentially a player who's not matchfit who is less attractive to clubs (who wants a "problem" player?), who maybe has to go on trial and could end up without a club. He's suffered that fate earlier that season (I would imagine it wasn't very pleasant) and presumably wouldn't want to do it again. So, for me, if he was told to stay, it suits his interests more to knuckle down and get on with it.

  40. Right ginger I hope you take this in. He had a massive presence at the top of the pitch receiving the ball in the middle to top third of the pitch often kickstarting attacks. He saves us a lot of messing around at the back by taking advantage of ripleys distribution of the ball. Often he receives these passes very well and because he is so high up he is in range to pass out to wingers or anyone that might be able to have a shot or start a set piece. One of the games I went to he had 2 defender on his back, he managed to receive the ball, turn both defenders and have a shot. Pretty much everything you want is there and I think the reason teams are after him is because of how dangerouse he is. He only needs to work on placing the shots. The ones I've seen him take have often been powerful and on target deflected by defenders that haven't even seen the shots coming. Oh and he could do with a bit more pace.

  41. When he is 100% fit. The Uche now is twice the player he was when he arrived. Plus he isn't at peak fitness even now. There is still more to come and clearly he terrifies defenders now. Add that third division (not Championship) goal sharpness and he will be one of the best in this league. IMHO

  42. He's had one decent game & if he hasn't sorted his shooting out now at his age he never will.

  43. He should be grateful we took him on, with no pre-season. If the move suits us then let him go.

  44. We signed Uche on a free quite late into the season. I'm not suggesting he is on peanuts but probably a short term deal with a promise of game time to get back playing and its worked for us and Uche. I can't imagine a team paying a fee to sign a player on a 6 month contract so if Charlton have had a bid accepted it'll be a contract till atleast the end of next season. Despite the upturn in performances, commitment and presence up top, would you be happy signing him on a larger contract and for longer? I do appreciate what he brings to the team but ultimately if we want to threaten top half finishes we need a more natural goal scorer.

  46. Oh well. I'll give it until 5pm. Gladiators is on then and it will be Jets turn on the Hang Tough. So at least it won't have been for nothing.

  47. Ojo in the summer. By and large we don't know because the club don't release this information.

  48. As far as Young goes, he came back from Swindon seemingly fully fit and full of goals and then mysteriously picked up a knock and hasn't been involved in any squads for them. If he played for Bradford he would be ineligible to move anywhere else, so the theory goes that he isn't being played because they want to cash in on him.

  49. This Jake Young rumour seems to have gained some noise the past 24 hours for some reason. Has somebody claimed to be in the know? I'd be very surprised if he ends up with us based on the fee Bradford are supposedly asking. Very very surprised. The Dale Taylor one is more likely for me, we were definitely in for him over the summer & although he's done okay, he might want to move back closer to home. He also knows Crosby from the under 21s. Seems like Uche is a done deal. As I've said before, if we've made 100K from that deal then massive kudos to the recruitment team for basically generating money out of thin air. I thought Crosby's interview yesterday was very telling when he said there have been enquiries for a number of our players. I'm not doom mongering but you'd have to think that Garrity is right at the top of that list based on his goals & performances. I wouldn't be at all surprised if teams have enquired about Chislett as well. His goals & assists have been really impressive after moving up to this level. Let's hope we can keep hold of both until next season. Next couple of weeks should be interesting. I'd expect us to be quite busy in the market with both ins & outs.
