Looks like they simply haven't got anyone in to do the Baggers role. As other have said he was covering Vale, Crewe and Chester. None of those teams have had any updates since Baggers' last story - that's despite James Wilson leaving Vale, Crewe announcing their retained list and Chester releasing a statement on crowd disorder at their play-off final. Not a word on any of those stories!

The sad truth is that Baggers articles probably didn't generate enough revenue on their website for them to justify keeping him. Premier League/Championship sides probably have more fans meaning more clicks, meaning more revenue.

There was a Port Vale article in the print edition of the Sentinel today. The name on the byline was Clive Youlton who mainly writes for the Surrey Advertiser.

A few days ago I was told that Vale would be covered remotely by reporters based down London way who would attend press conferences via Zoom and even watch games via ifollow if necessary.

Sounds about right.......Those that have knocked The Sentinel coverage in the past will now realise what they have lost.

This is true and is a disgrace.

It's had its day.

Lots of areas still sell plenty of actual newspapers, but that revenue is finite for that day, media companies who own the papers prefer their writers to publish online articles which earn advertising revenue every time someone opens it.

I would guess Reach plc, who own The Sentinel, would rather have someone writing an online article for a club with approx 30k fans who might click on their pages several times than write for a newspaper which may well reach half that number per day.

Sad thing is, you can see media coverage of lower league clubs dying in years to come as people scramble for a slice of the more profitable leagues.

My wife reads a paper newspaper daily. I have to get for her. But she has zero interest in football.

My issue with this form of media is that for the 10% I'm interested in, I get 90% I'm not. Plus of course it's clunky and inherently out of date.

I just access Sky News and Sky Sports remaining conscious of Sky's foibles and biases.

When I view the Sentinel page, after being bombarded with adverts on 60% of my screen, the local news is mainly about crime. Nothing else.

Hardly worth viewing.

Surely you enjoy some of the cutting edge stories they have ?

Couple find gherkin missing on their Big Mac or We test the best pie shop in the Potteries .

Some belting stuff on there 🙄

"A heroin addict who stole 3 pork pies......" I loose the will to carry on reading after the first sentence. It is alway drugs and potholes in the Sentinel with some random doom and gloom thrown in. Strangely, I really want to move back to Kidsgrove, well somewhere near. Rode Heath or Congleton maybe.
