Mike has been excellent at his job and will be sorely missed by Vale supporters who read his work in the Sentinel.  He was always honest and didn't shy away from the difficult stuff under our previous owner.  Good luck, Mike and thanks for all your efforts.

His coverage of Vale all these years has been first class. Not as though it’s been easy either at times especially under Smurthwaite. Best of luck to him in his new job.

I know he had been covering Chester too so maybe he was fed up with being spread too thin. Always a good read and enjoyed his comments on Radio Sjoke .

I met Mike in a Chinese chip shop ( where their gravy was like black tar but tasted great) in Gillingham some seasons back. He was with a man from Radio Stoke, we were heading for the pub opposite - they were going to get set up.

I've met Mike on several occasions and he's always been so professional, polite and approachable. A really nice person and definitely a loss to the Vale media ranks. 

I'll miss his excellent coverage in the Sentinel and I wish him all the best in his new role.

Rare that i read the Lardinel due to the annoying adverts, but i was contacted by Mike to talk about something a couple of years ago. 

A very educated and well informed bloke all things Vale and i know it was only a couple of brief phone calls, you could tell he was a genuinely nice guy. Good luck to him. 

 

Sadly furthers the demise of what was once a good local newspaper. Used to love waiting for the van to arrive with The Green Un at about 18.00 pm in my local newsagent after a Vale home game.

It all started to go wrong when I lost my paper round……over a dispute regarding the amount of Kay-li I was being paid in. 🙄
