New Pitch ?

Discussion point & I'd be interested to gauge people's opinions...

If we have a really quiet window this month, but it means we have a brand new pitch installed in the summer, would people accept that?

PS. I know nothing. Just a question.

Yes if we’re still in L1 too.

Regards the pitch (and please move this post to a ‘New pitch’ thread if there is one) the cost is of obvious concern and it would be interesting to know what the club is considering to do to raise the funds to cover this one off expense.  Sponsorship is an obvious consideration as we have for each stand - I assume the FA/EFL don’t allow the surface advertising we see in rugby (potential difficulties in seeing lines for determining offsides etc) but the current playing surface area has more than enough peripheral space for pitch specific sponsor advertising without impacting the view from the stands.  Fans could also feel like they’re making a contribution if the current surface is auctioned off I’d quite fancy having a few square feet of Vale Park, Burslem in my Cambridgeshire back garden and someone might fancy framing the Bycars penalty spot to commemorate McKirdy’s penalty miss.

Deffo not number 2 .
I'm sure the fella who was telling me has heard it somewhere .
Hearsay I'm more concerned with what goes on on the pitch .

UTV

The rumour I heard is Donaldson is buying 49%  of the club and will be joint chair.

The pitch is being funded by  his numerous insurance companies as a sponsorship.

Don’t know how much truth in it but it came from loose talk in Robbie suite on Tuesday

That would only be a positive thing surely?

That just means Carol would get her money back it won't make any difference to the club as some one without a controlling interest isn't going to be putting more money in than the actual owners. As for the new pitch it ain't happening it needs new drains a new pump, tank and water pipes for the sprinklers as well as a storm water storage tank for the new regulations I only know this because I asked the blokes who were doing the training ground in the summer when they are doing the pitch and they said it's not as simple as just digging up the grass.

So it's not happening?

Or do you mean it's a bigger job than might be assumed?

I would buy the spot where it landed behind the bycars.

IF this is true, I think it's extremely positive. Shanahans keep control and guide the club, back up by a good friend who's a multi multi millionaire and can help pay for things they want to do but can't afford. He's also reasonably young at 49 and has experience of running a club, albeit in non league with Kidsgrove.

His companies, Atlanta investment holdings 1 and 2 have investments of £372m and £142m respectively including 100% ownership of Swinton Insurance, amongst others.

WSL is currently apparently awash with money.

Something that I have been told is that the Sheffield United's women team have agreed a deal to play at the Scunthorpe United ground.

In exchange for this, Sheffield United are paying £1.2 million for new pitch to be put in at Scunthorpe United this summer

I worked with him years ago at an insurance brokers, it's amazing how things have changed for him.

Draining clay at Vale Park has been a problem since 1950, sand and pumps are a cure. Don`t know much about surface drainage in Burslem, certainly not on a flood plain, could the pit shafts be used or would that cause problems elsewhere?

Sheff Utd women aren't even in the WSL so that seems extortionate frivolous thing to do. They are next to bottom in the division below.

Supposedly it didn’t land.  After clearing Tunstall it kept on the same steep trajectory, rising rapidly before it left the Earth’s atmosphere just over Mow and is now orbiting as “more space junk”.  This came from a guy in the pub who drinks for NASA.
