Let's hope you are right then j(o)g(on)pvfc.

Why, having been so previously, do Oxford now no longer believe that he is worthy of being their 1st choice this season? (that is now, when we need to stay in this league, not in future seasons that they have contracted him for)

And I would hope that he is automatic no. 1 for us, as opposed to being "stiff competition for Stone", who IMO is not yet ready for being our no. 1

Because he had an illness and lost his spot as well as sapped of body strength and energy.

He's fit now mate but Eastwood moved ahead of him

One or two serious substance abusers on here by the looks of things!

Harrison looks to be an excellent signing and Stevens looks more than capable as a number two and someone to keep Stone on his toes. The only way Stone will get better himself is by playing games, not suddenly getting chucked out of the team which is what would probably had happened had we signed someone like Blackman.

Everyone loves patience on here. So let’s see what Gibbo’s injury is and how many games he plays this season before we say we did the right thing. Dosent sound the most serious injury and if he still plays 30 games this season we should have offered him a decent deal (it’s probably the same figure the likes of Wilson and Proctor will manage)

Rumours are Gibbo is out till Christmas.........................

Gives us breathing space. Club as good as admitted some signings have gone belly up.

Maybe this gives us 12 months to line up a new keeper and also aids the development of Stone.

No sense leaving Oxford bench for Vale bench , he'll be in the team.

I agree about loans but I think in this instance we've been forced down this road maybe after being rebuffed by others .

Plan ABCDEF...

Keep the faith.

With everyone fit and available we look to have the best 11 and subs bench we've had in many a year.

Stone, Worrall, Cass, Smith, Hall, Benning, Ojo, Conlon, Garrity, Wilson, Proctor

Subs: Stevens, Forrester, Robinson, Walker, Pett, Massey, Harrison

Couldn't even find a spot on the bench for Holden, Charsley, McDermott, Jones, Small or Hussey!

Spot on… not sure what some posters on here expect.

There is a good chance most of our signings will be players a lot of our fans haven’t heard of or seen. That’s mainly due to the fact that we’ve signed decent well established league one players. Players that we couldn’t have signed had we not been promoted.

What I like with both these signings is their experience in this league.  Both have performed well for their clubs at this level, and are well spoken of by their previous clubs overall.  They pass the Richard Head test too, and will be able to slot in directly to the team as and when.  I'm neither underwhelmed nor overwhelmed by them as signings - they both seem like players who have been well researched by our team and will strengthen the squad and offer competition - that what DC and DF want.  They know the players better than any of us.  An explosively pacey Premiership reserve striker would now put the icing on the cake for me - someone who can run at players and scare opposition defences.  But it has been a good day for the club, and helped to reassure the fans that the management aren't just clutching at straws.  Onwards and upwards.

Feeling much better about the squad now. Finally coming together, and looks competitive.

I reckon the recruitment team have excelled.

Why?

Because it's clearly been difficult landing targets, so they've had to keep searching.

Yet they're still coming up with quality.

Let's see how it develops, the next windows should be steadier.

I think we got caught out by progressing more rapidly than expected!
