So you think pope has been our best player?

In the games ive seen Yes easily but long term he aint the answer ,he is getting older and if we are to play a high pressing game you need more mobility up there .

I missed Davis 4 .

I trust Aspin to rid the club of the players who continually do the fans a dis service .

Ive seen 25 games this season here are my marks on overall performance application bottle heart of those ive seen .I will start withthe players who have i feel done well .

Pope 7 Hannant 6 Worrall 6 Montano 6 Anderson 6 Howkins 6 .

Tonge 5 Smith 5 Gibbons 5 Whitfield 5 Harness5 Kay 5

Barnett 3 Forrester 3 Pugh 3 Boot 4 .

Havent really seen enough of the rest to give them a score but overall we need more 7s and a few 8 and sixes should be the bare minimum u expect .

Lots of underwhelming performances and displays .

Tues is very significant in Vales future

Great post VFIA.

Sensible, accurate, in my view.

You've relaxed already 😀

I’m expecting around a dozen players will get the chop tomorrow and some under contract players to be transfer listed. When all our players are fit we don’t have a bad 11, but with injuries and suspensions there’s no one in the squad that’s decent enough.

Only Pope, Worrall, Montano and Kay are anywhere near good enough for where we should be aiming to be.

Obviously Hawkins is a tremendous prospect so definitely worth trying to sign.

The rest are inconsistent at best and need to go.

Hannant and gibbons definitely don't need to go.

Davis 4? Where did you get that from? One point each for putting the correct boot on the correct foot & one point each for tying the laces?

Some laughable scores individually IMO. Collectively we may have fared poorly but individually some players have had better seasons. Giving Pope a 7 when he’s been calling for him to be dropped all season sounds like trying to prevent getting any stick to me.

Agree with this. The last 2 games have seen that we are carrying 5 or 6 players, who under normal circumstances would be squad players or maybe even out on loan.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon (using the recent squads as a guide) to take a well educated stab at who will be going

I thought at xmas time when he replaced Gibbons we put 3 really good defensive displays in v Cambridge H Coventry H and Luton H and in one of themhe evenhad a run where he took players on forget who but i was impressed .

Ok in general maybe not a good a player as Smith but not much worse either on what ive witnessed .

The time we were getting our stuff together was when Gunning came in at centre half him going hurt us in so many ways as the morale of the side was not the same..

We need a Sol Bamba or a big strong unit at centre half and someone by his side who wants play for the club in my opinion .

Its my opinion and it matters zilch to anyone else only me .

I have seen enough make my judgements .

So every week you’ve argued that we should drop the player you think is our best whilst in a relegation battle?

On the human front - and it is more important to keep this in mind than attach to the Port Vale dream - 40% of footballers are bankrupt within 5 years of ending career, 33% are divorced within 1 year of retirement, half of retired sports people have concerns over mental health, only 15% of professional footballers choose when to retire.

So tomorrow is a tough day for many of our players and I hope they are well prepared and get good support - like Adam Yates.

They are alarming statistics.

Honestly think Aspo will only renew Turner, and maybe Calveley as he's seen a bit of time in the last two games. Everyone else out of contract is off.

Thats 10 gone, plus the 6 loanees.

Also saw that Tonge had a 'leaving do', maybe he isn't taking up his 1 year extension?

In an ideal world we'd reach a settlement with Lainton too.

If all the above happened, I'd be pretty pleased.
