Some incredible comments on here - I know Dodds divides opinions but Christ. One guy states he will not be getting a ST now because hes coming!. States he won't get his support on the pitch and admits to jeering him at games!! If Dodds does come back i bet he will be glad you are not renewing eh. Supporters - the clue should be in the name. I admit i have booed at the end of games occasionally, and very rarely at half time - caused by frustration. But never booed individual players during a game - can't see how that can help the player or the team tbh. What a reaction to one player coming in. What about the previous six, or future ones we don't know about yet? My own opinion - for what its worth - is that Dodds could make a contribution to the team, especially if played in the number 10 role. Aspin seems to be moving in the right direction but as you might expect not always getting the deal through. Renewing my 2 St's tomorrow, getting the Grandson the new strip and investing in cough sweets to help my voice when the season starts. UTV!

It my money and my right to express my opinion. I won’t tolerate someone putting half arsed effort in and shirking if my paying my money to watch. Genuinely like the rest of the additions to the squad but bringing in a washed up ex player purely

Because he’s being pushing for it himself for over 6 months is a joke, this isn’t NS fault or anyone else other than Aspins and I thought he was stronger than basically giving in to a pest

He’s just like you Doha, no balls, no grit, no drive and a total passenger most of the time. When it’s going ok you jump on the bandwagon and pretend you always were part of it. Dodds in a nutshell especially in our promotion season.

September, beginning of the season, Rotherham 6-2, Fleetwood 5-1, just when everyone started to believe. Dodds was key in both games, and scored one of the best Vale goals I’ve seen at Fleetwood.

Also, the only reason we’re signing this “spineless little rat” is because Norman won’t pay the going rate for any other strikers that Aspin has wanted. But we’ll ignore that, eh?

Vale will be paying all of Pope's wages from next season won't they?

I was under the impression Bury were still contributing last year because he still had a year to run on his contract when they settled it.

He agreed a lump sum settlement which allowed him to come here.Pay cut next season?

If dodds signs he will be an uplift on forrester ,barnet harness but if Aspin cant get deals over the line due to finances and limited budget for wages then Aspins hands are tied which aint is fault as this is where we find ourselves.

Maybe wrong but didn't dodds play for nowt for us calling him a rat is out of line - he certainly divides opinion but if he fills a space at little cost and allows us to add another body this would be a good signing-lets face it cant be worse than pugh or tongue or others mentioned.

This season not expecting much however next season when the decks are cleared more will or should be aspins real team- at the moment we all know what we need no more so than aspin and rudge hopefully norman sees this to

I’ve heard from someone who knows Dodds that it’s a done deal, he was at a wedding with him last weekend

I’d sign him.Play him for the first 10 minutes every game, the opposition will think they are in for an easy game.He then can be subbed and someone prepared to battle can come on.Confusion tactics.

I was mulling over posting something similar, I definitely would have mentioned the goal at Fleetwood which I think both me and Mellor were stood roughly behind. Plenty of other moments like that as well, the Huddersfield comeback, Rotherham away on the Boxing day, the volley at Bradford, some great goals and some really good memories.

I also remember him giving his time when he was a Shrewsbury player to go and visit that terminally ill lad a couple of years ago. How many ex-players go out of their way to do that?

He might not be everyone's cup of tea but he doesn't deserve some of the rubbish he gets.

We are clearly struggling again to sign players. Lets get one thing straight this is not about Aspin having a lack of cash we have offered transfer fees so it can’t be.

Aspin struggled in the last window and he is again.

Can I ask what is John Rudge actually doing at Port Vale.

In Rudge and Aspins tenure we have not signed a single player who would pull up trees. Two have even been let go.

For me that’s the decider on a season ticket and that’s made my mind up. Pick my matches and spend my money if I can be arsed. If I’ve got pay money to watch players who will do the same then can’t expect more.

Dodds is a spineless little rat who goes missing when the hard work and battle kicks in. He was let go by page not to do with wages but because him and few other thought they ran the dressing room and undermined the manager. Aspin and Rudge really gone down in my estimations if this is true

Consistently clueless

Hannant looks quite good, just my opinion.I’d play Hannant and Worrall centre mid.No need for Dudds.

Never a massive fan of Dodds as a player but I'll be happy this time.

Good attacking mid for this level, will get us the all important 7 goals, will contribute to the tight-knit dressing room Aspo has banged on about creating since he came in.

He isn't the sole solution to our issues but he's a solid little building block. We still need a proper, out and out striker to relieve the pressure on Pope, which we seem to be struggling to manage (Dennis, Amond, Posh boys all seem to have fallen apart).

Cash talks -simple a fee is one thing wages is another and I would hazard a guess we are down the pecking order

The decision not to offer decent contracts to Dodds, Birchall and Yates to force them out was made months before Page left because Dodds, Pope, Birchall and a few others had barged into Pages office moaning on a Friday night because Yates had been dropped from the squad for the following day. Page spoke to Smurf and the plan was agreed to force them out by offering them a low contract and start a fresh the next year. Page said they wouldn’t be about next year and the owner wasn’t having it. Unfortunately Smurf decided the same plan could be used on page too

Matt, I know you don't like Dodds but what you've written there is fiction. Dodds was not offered a low contract to force him out, he had the option of another year on the same wages and chose not to take it up. He emailed Norman to tell him this. The decision to leave was his and his alone. I have a copy of his email if you don't believe me.
