You talk about binary thinking and spectrums yet when I questioned the management teams handling of things pre-season (things that I and others have now been proved right on), you started slating me for being "disrespectful".

Some stuff they did was good (waiting for Harrison)

Some stuff they did didn’t work (Loan market).  Which thankfully they are owning up to.

They were painted as lazy, not doing their job and accused of not doing any planning… my view was that was harsh.

They had, let’s not forget, just delivered a promotion some posters were so desperate for they sounded on the verge of tears in here demanding success because they hadn’t seen any.

My view was that they have a tough job and there are 1000 variables they were trying to navigate.

I’m not someone who demands or expects all football things things to go perfect all the time, it’s a hard grind.

The slating they took I didn’t think was fair and was a bit binary.

But as I keep saying, where you sit on the “we hate Flickers” scale will impact how you interpret things.

Either they were carefully balancing budget vs value of players, or they tried and it didn’t come off or they were lazy and stealing a wage. That’s up to the individual.

Its clearly upset you as you have brought it up 4 or 5 times now… so I apologise for going in so hard with my language.

It is perfectly possible that what was being said about the relationships in the squad was true - they were a tight group. Perhaps their relationship as a group with the manager had changed though. There were folk on here who watched training saying that DC was being far from proactive. Perhaps his mind was elsewhere and if it was, it is hardly surprising in view of what was going on in his life.

Ironic that fans at some clubs are fretting their “star” performers from last season are unlikely to be returning on loan next as they’re likely to be featuring for their parent club or loaned to a team in a higher division.  Not something we need to worry about.  Every cloud….silver linings and all that. 🙄

This is by far the most reasonable and plausible thing on this entire thread.

I was not a great fan of Flitcroft. I thought he was too willing to talk in cliches and football gobbledegook. I have to admit that I was delighted to hear him talk far more honestly on Thursday and admit to mistakes that had been made. Perhaps he realises that fans aren’t mugs.

In football, the external view is often something like the team is losing, the manager isn't turning it round, he's not positively affecting the performance, sack him before we get relegated.

So in sport and many other professions, performance does bring adverse consequences. However, if some of the failure is arising from capacity to cope issues that can lie beyond the job then the employer does owe some duty of care. One response might be temporary leave of absence as happened in 2021/22.

I know nothing of course. But from my external stance the January transfer window was poorly managed. The team plunged down the league making pretty similar mistakes to lose games including keep playing three at the back when goals against were flooding in. The organisation at set pieces for and against looked poor to me. There is some visual evidence of players effort being open to question.

The owners therefore faced a very difficult situation in balancing the performance failure and possible duty of care issues. But, when it was approaching last chance saloon and the future of L1 status was at serious risk, they acted.

I hope DC all the best for the future. Few jobs in life are as tough and ruthless as football management. I'm sure he will be back managing somewhere in a reasonable time period because overall he has a good record.

He tweeted they were working on it and will be released next week. They are probably editing out questions like where does all the soil go from the pitch.

Believe they are going to release it in sections so the recruitment segment will be separate as will the academy one and so forth.
