We have had a great ride over the last 18 months and obviously sentiments and shock are prevalent right now. Carol and the board must know what they are doing as this is a huge gamble. We now have to pull together all of us as supporters and push us over the finish line.

Just feel really sad reading this and seeing the fans reaction to Carol and the club as well. I hope Darrell is okay first of all, and I wish him well after everything he has done for us in his short tenure. It's never a good moment when someone loses their job, and perhaps in time we will find out whether Darrell himself had had enough of the stress and wanted out. I think some players have let him down recently. Good luck Darrell, and I hope you find your way back into football soon.  You will always be remembered well by Vale fans for saving the club and getting us back into League 1.  Thanks fella.

I know I mentioned on the other thread maybe a change was needed but I’m completely shocked and gutted this morning. We didn’t lose at Lincoln because of DC, I wasn’t a fan of the triple sub but it actually worked ok, we lost because of the ‘captain’ and Robinson. That snake flitcroft needs to get out of this club ASAP. Carol needs to wake the <ovf censored> up as well, numerous bad calls this season but gets away with little criticism

Feeling quite sad seeing the news even though results and performances haven’t been there. It’s not sitting easy with me that DF seems to have been solely pinned for the blame, we had no budget in January signed a load of <ovf censored> again and let good players go but somehow muster the funds to sack a guy on a 5 year deal.

That’s me done for the season. Do whatever now vale couldn’t care less. Won’t be there ‘packing the park’ on Saturday.

Thank you DC for an amazing season and amazing day at Wembley that I will never forget.

Gutted for Darrell although it seems clear something isn't right at the club and hasn't been for weeks.

Darrell has had a torrid time personally and it's something no father/parent should have to go through and I wish both him and his family the best for the future.

As regards the club moving forward, maybe this is the best thing in the long run, only time will tell but I hope those 'Senior Players' now step up to the plate and prove that their input into what's gone on with Darrell can be proven on the pitch - starting tomorrow night.

They will certainly be under extreme scrutiny for the remaining 4 games from each and every supporter, let's hope they can pick up the points we still desperately need.

Goodbye and good luck Darrell.

The 5 year deal in itself with our vision and process was ludicrous for a lower league club.

Always going to be cut short. I know we have to trust the owners but I'm beginning to have grave doubts with some of the goings on recently.

I'm sure there was a get out clause both ways. Surely we're not thick enough to now be paying 4 years compensation.

The players should be ashamed of themselves. Just who are these senior players they have consulted whilst making this knee jerk decision?

About the only positive right now is that we played pretty well under Crosby when Clarke was on compassionate leave. Got us back into the playoff race

It took him a while though and one thing we don't have is time. People on here were calling for him to be gone after a few games.

This is so wrong, when i watched the interview with Carol the other week and she said that ALL football matters now go through David Flitcroft!.. I said to my wife then, Clarke will be lucky see out the season (hoping i'd be wrong).. It's DF who should be gone NOT DC..

I posted a couple of weeks ago after comments from fans who had watched training sessions. Darrell had been running laps of the training pitch by himself & standing behind the nets, disengaged. You only have to look at his body language on the bench recently, he's not the same bloke.

For me, he checked out mentally a couple of months ago, for reasons we may never know or understand. He's had a lot go on in his life.

The statement says they've been discussing with Darrell for a few weeks. I think they probably asked if he could get us over the line before moving on in the close season. For the club to make the decision now with 4 x games to go, they've clearly thought enough is enough & any goodwill that has been shown to DC in the past few months has finally been distinguished.

I wish you well Darrell. Thank you for last season & thank you for dragging this club back to something more respectable. I'm truly sorry you lost your mojo & I hope you find it back with another club when you are ready.
