Do you not think the landscape changes in League 1? We could have easily signed 10 lower league 1 players by now, but it seems we are aiming higher than that. Is that not to be applauded, if we ever have any ambition of being Championship ready?

Not sure honestly, I get it’s probably more difficult to sign certain players as they will have a lot of interest from others, but I still think 2 signings at this point is a little light. We’re clearly looking at the right players to progress, I’ve never seen Ojo play but he seems to have the right pedigree for a very good league 1 player. Delighted that we seem to be looking at players that aren’t lower league 1 players, I suppose time will tell on that but with Ojo and rumours of Blackman that supports what you say. I agree with what your saying I just think we’re still too light on the signings at this stage and I do think there have been players available that we could have been in for Dunn at Oldham for example that would have improved us and you could say signing players like Wilson last season were ahead of league 2 but they were still signed early doors. Hopefully a couple come in before next week and we can all move on from this.

Personally i don’t think the timing has anything to do with it. We signed Garrity on the 4th June and Wilson on the 7th June for example. Surely if the player is available and we want to sign we get the transfer done? As with Ojo, also signed in June. I don’t buy this time thing, you can sign a good player in June and in August.

Negotiations, availability ( under contract/out of contract) getting/not getting our primary targets will determine timescales.

no ' one size fits all'

Also, not to forget that we have a strong core of players in the current squad.

Someone who knows what they're on about, far harder to get the right players in Div 1 and they know how much their stock is worth so can hold out for a deal.

I wonder how focused Ojo will be with the court case hanging over him until November.

Also were a newly promoted team who chances are that we are going to be knocking about at the wrong end of the table all season, which means if you arent paying good wages we may struggle to entice that good quality of league one player (for now.) Its a tough ask and im thinking this is why the delay so we are now focusing on loan players and waiting for their parent clubs to say 'yes you can now go out on loan'....

I believe it’s a two way thing. If a club wants a player, a player also has to want the club. Several clubs may want the player so the player, probably via his greedy agent creates a sort of auction between interested parties. There will be all sorts of shenanigans at play and we’ll be very much a part of that. Not sure if the Tom Lowery rumours are true but if they are then we will be signing a player much better than Jake Taylor. It is about timing however  it’s more about patience, nouse and diligence. I love the fact that those pulling the strings at the club are dancing to their own tune and not the panic stricken racket on here.

I'm wondering of some of last years posters who got things so vocally wrong have made a fresh start posting under a new name.

There are some very similar writing styles and agendas flying around!!

I thought that, too, Budgie! Even the same..."I think I heard...!" "I think I read..." before coming out with some made-up BS!!! I notice one particularly nasty one has laid off the manager he slaughtered, time and again, last season, and now seems to be doubting the professionalism of the backroom and recruitment team? Why do they pretend to be Vale fans?

Pity the trial not in Stoke on Trent.  Judge Fletcher and Glenn the most lenient pair going . Tongue in cheek as both just retired .

Due to the extenuating circumstances and provocation I'd be amazed if Ojo gets anything major thrown his way.

They’ve obviously not got a lot of players they have gone for. We are weaker than last season in a higher division. I do hope it doesn’t become desperate signings because we are well short of players with little time to gel them in.
