Match Thread - Port Vale v Macclesfield Town

I hope that Yeovil go down after the ticket bloke on the train going to the game let us get off at Chetnole station, he knew where we were going and it was an unscheduled stop. He even opened the doors for us. Have you ever tried getting a cab from there to Huish Park?

To be honest, if you haven’t done your homework, especially with how the internet works, then you deserve everything that happens to you.

We have a truly shocking home record. Yeovil (on 20) and Notts County (on 21) have fewer points than us (we're on 24) but we have lost more than any other club, with 12 league defeats. Only two other clubs are in double figures with Yeovil and Morecambe on 10 apiece. No wonder gates have just gone down and down when the odds on seeing your team win are so long. Talk about long-suffering.

By contrast, Morecambe have the worst away record in L2 with just 4 wins, 3 draws and 15 defeats with a GD of -18, and just 15 points on the road.

So whether they're desperate for points, whether it represents a sporting dilemma for Arthur, or whether it's the last game of the season when we're already safe, this is one we should be going all out to win. We need to improve our appalling home record, which would go some way to make up for the dross we've had to put up with all season, and set ourselves up for next with a fine win against, to put it mildly, mediocre opponents. Losing to Macc, with their record, would be a truly dismal end to the season's home fixtures.

Another MKD performance please, in terms of effort, but this time with a win.

Sorry Macc but Vale to win every game for me. No sentiment, you get what you deserve in this game and if you are in the bottom two at the end of a long season you deserve to be relegated, simples. Besides it will be a great way to celebrate our "new" owners to the Club (hoping all is well with the takeover).

Think Askey will make 4/5 changes for this one and basically let Macclesfield come onto us and take the points at the same time saying he wanted to look at fringe players for next season etc.....

Macc couldn’t have asked for a better game than against us and with Askey as manager.

Get your money on Macclesfield for the win. It’s nailed on

I disagree, I think it will be a sense of pride of for him (he didn’t leave on good terms with their board which is mad considering what he achieved!) so I fully expect him to be professional about the game.

When Macclesfield exited the EFL at the end of the 2011/2012 season, their final win of that campaign came on the last day of December 2011 against Port Vale. They then had to wait almost 7 years until October 2018 for their next league win at home to Carlisle United. Let’s hope that history doesn’t repeat itself although I would imagine that if they did beat us, their chances of going down would be negligible. So come on Vale, let’s not even give them a chance
