Aspin Out!

IF every player was FIT, Vale would probably have a decent team. Thankfully the so called useless manager has signed a decent goalkeeper and a few half decent lads. Legge is tremendous. Add a couple of more to the squad and who knows what might pan out. I'm concerned though about the negative starts to games. This area needs addressing.

Every player was fit bar Legge and Montano.

Legge was replaced by a player lauded as a million pound championship player 18 months ago.

We can use injury/ suspension as an excuse but it's part of the game.

Newport were without one of their better players on Welsh duty yet still won at Oldham .

There is another angle on this. Notts County for however long remain straddled at the bottom of league two. It is not all about Budgets. It is clear that motivation, tactics, confidence and self belief all play a roll. Smurthwaite appointed Neil Aspin success or not remains to be seen. He is however not immune to criticism. The slow starts leaving out key players and playing cautiously or negatively are down to Aspin and his demeanor and tactical ability.

Two points. Though I feel, certainly after so few games it would be absurd and probably self defeating to get rid of the manager, I do feel he isn't exactly helping his own cause.

Considering so many teams at our level have players of equal ability the difference between the winners and losers surely comes down to two things, organisation and team spirit.

You only have to look at the way, as a team we both defend and attack to at least acknowledge that in terms of organisation and tactics we are failing big time, and worse, doing so game after game.

He must know that something has to change, definition of madness and all that, and if he doesn't then we are all in the mire. In this respect I also don't think Brabin who is equally known for favouring a similar style of play is doing him many favours either.

We can also argue about the owners-and many do,and their levels of interest and investment,or lack of it, but without question this is a prerequisite responsibility of the management, no one else's.

If we continue to keep playing people out of position, leaving people out of the team, and squad, because of it, and keep playing favourites regardless of performance, and it is clear to all there are a good few of those, and then worse with his tactics continue to stifle an attacking mentality, surely it must eat away at confidence in individuals generally and undermine moral and team spirit specifically.

The boss would also buy himself time and importantly much needed support if he was a bit more honest and certainly a bit less deflective in his post match interviews.

I would happy to give Aspin time if I could see improvements, logic, direction but I see players getting worse, players being played out of position and absolutely no direction

For this of us who watched the game yesterday you would have seen that we could barely put 2 passes together. Our attacking intent was on the break. They had far more chances than we did and for Aspin to say we should have won is deluded.

We have decent players but we have no structure, no pattern of play, no idea basically. I can't work out what Aspin is actually trying to do. He seems preoccupied with the opposition and no losing as opposed to going for a win!

Personally I think his days are numbered unless he finds a settled side with a style of play that will win games.

You could also say 2 points dropped against a 10 man team with 2 wins in 7...

But I didn't and most people that realise how difficult it is to get anything away from home(especially when form is struggling) would agree it was a good point. And as for 10 men, well 10 players quickly become defender's when trying to save a point.

Don't be so ******* delusional that you think you speak for us all! I'm not happy with a few things...neither am I desperate like you and the other gobshites. With so much disparity in results since Aspo took over, you can't blame the bad on him, and ignore the good! Time will tell and...in any case...there IS no viable alternative!

Problem is there's been a hell of a lot more bad than there has been good.

If Aspin was no longer manager tomorrow do you actually believe any other league club would be in for him this season? If you do then you need to stop lying to yourself.

I take it you didn't watch the game then?

Their keeper never had a difficult save to make. They had loads more chances but their poor finishing and Browns great save stopped them winning? They looked a far better side in the first half. The second half was a typical scrappy affair.

The problem is, that has been true of the most of Smurf's appointments so why should the next one be any different?

I don't and would never disagree. But Aspin as a manager still leaves a lot to be desired at the end of the day, regardless who the twonk is that appointed him in the first place.
