Aspin Out!

Page should never have been appointed in the first place but the biggest mistake was replacing him on the cheap again when we needed an experienced manager to steady the ship.

Anyone else see the theme since?

Kept us up, mid L1 first full season, who would have improved on that with the same budget? Not that it matters, Aspin is steering the ship at present and will be judged when most of the players are back from injury.

The issue with Page for me was the fact that the football was fairly dull and uninspiring. Let's not make Page out to be a God because most people were happy when he left. However in hindsight it takes time to turn a team around and build - it doesn't always happen overnight. Page might have got us playing better football after being more settled in his role.

That's why Aspin needs time. We're not going to get anywhere constantly changing managers. It might not be the most exciting, but sticking with him for the moment is better than getting rid and starting again. Then come the end of the season we can build further.

Just look at Newport - survived by the skin of their teeth, progressed to mid table, now look a decent outfit. Patience is required.

Hell, what about Mickey Adams? We all know what a great manager he was for us but it didn't happen straight away. We finished mid table in the first season of both of his spells before then going on to progress.

The only sides that really kick on with a new manager are those with money to spend. Unfortunately in that regard we're just average.

He also says the manager and management team salaries are no good and they are definitely not there for the money because its rubbish... probably the reason Askey turned us down.

If you get rid of Aspin, then it will just be another underpaid manager.

Will Norman invest the money required to get someone who can put the fire out that he has caused... I highly doubt it.

Are the salaries rubbish in League 2 standards (whatever they are), or rubbish from a general stand point? I'm sure he's making a fair bit more than ie a brick layer...

Getting rid of NA makes no sense, we would have to recruit yet another manager and the rigmarole of him establishing himself on the current team, and recruiting new players. It takes to turn round an.oil tanker so abandoning it in progress only to pull it in the opposite direction is bloody stupid.

Agreed. We need stability in the short term.

ASPIN IN. What a perfect performance today when Aspo had all his players fully fit. Great energy and desire to win this game from every player that put a Vale shirt on. Team selection was bang on. Well done Aspo and the boys.

His signings are key players add replacements for tongue pugh kay plus others out on loan we surely can only improve...going in right direction and to think some compared him to brown:banghead:

As I said on the other thread, I’ll reserve judgement until we start being a bit more positive away from home. We’ve actually got lots of options, and so it is still baffling why he continues to play players out of position.

When he’s doing that, plus playing negatively Home and away AND not getting results in the process, it’s only natural that he’ll get criticised. This is after all fourth tier football, meaning the players generally have less ability and budgets are tighter.

Therefore it is critical to get the best out of what you have, which you won’t do by playing people out of position.
