  1. Great football going forward today. For the first 30 minutes we hardly let them have the ball. We kept possession so well and the front three worked very well together. Politic was awesome Gibbo was caught offside twice which shows how attacking he was. Deserved his goal. We are definitely a better side with him in the team. DC certainly went for it with the attacking formation. There was several times when they had men over up front but they were woeful. Great depth of squad demonstrated today. The bench was very strong. Special mention to Taylor who looked a differnet class when he came on.
  2. Have a look at the video again. It wasn't in the corner. He actually pushed it into the corner after he moved just a few inches! It looked more or less straight at him to me. He should have had it. Why they chose such a small wall and one player just standing randomly away from the wall is a question for management.
  3. What a static first half that was. Little movement and creativity. Benning, Politic and Clarke switching formation changed the game. I've been critical of Benning but his first touch and forward play was outstanding today and I hope that Politic retains his shirt. Wilson was great today. Worked hard and kept possession of the ball. Thought he deserved MOM. The energy of the whole team second half was impressive. I thought Conlon and Cass (who kept running into players when he had the ball) were not up to their usual high standard. I'm still waiting for Covolan to give me some trust in him. Clarke was critical of him today too!
  4. According to DC he has been carrying a knock, but he didn't go into detail as to where.
  5. Agreed. There was two pieces of real quality that won the game but other than that it was a disjointed performance. They bossed a large portion of the second half and should have scored. I was surprised DC didn't change the formation in that second half as we looked like the team with 10 men. We need to play better football. Individually there were some very good performances but as a team we bypassed the midfield too many times and didn't hold on to the ball. Great to see Gibbo back. Taylor made a difference too when he came on as he found space and drove forward. Proctor won nearly everything and Worrall deserved MOM. Pleased for Wilson in getting his goal. Took it very well. Harrogate where thugs and no.21 should have definitely been sent off. Great to see Vale been tough in return.
  6. How big is our squad now? It must be a very similar size to last season.
  7. Worrall still got into the two best shooting positions of the night and had to play in a position which stifles his forward play. The whole team were rubbish tonight. We struggled to put passes together for most of the match. We seemed to want to hit 50 yard passes. The effort was there, but using DC's word from last season, there was very little quality. We looked like a team that has just been thrown together and I am sure we cohesion will come when he has a settled formation (which hopefully is 4 3 3 ) and knows his best team (that could take another 2 months).
  8. Oh dear. Looks like its been washed a 1000 times.
  9. I'm sorry that is nonsense. How do you know these new players can play at league 1? One certainly couldn't get into a league one team on a regular basis and the general consensus of Shrewsbury fans is he is a nice guy and has a great shot but that is about it. Garrity is a complete gamble, as was Manny. Manny was the best central midfielder we had and he definitely had the talent to play at a higher level, it just appears his body wasn't up to it. I suspect he left knowing he would be released, as everyone else was, and wanted some security especially with having a young family.
  10. I have no faith in Clarke. He reminds me of Lee Sinnott, talking a good game but manages like a headless chicken. I don't buy into "it is not hid squad" theory. He had his own players at Walsall and only won one more game than John Askey yet we thought we should pay a six figure sum for someone who was doing no better. The recruitment was poor under Askey but I feel that if he was still in charge we would be in a better league position, probably the case with Pugh too. DC seems to have completely knocked any confidence out of some of the players. To be fair some players look better, primarily the defence, but our creative players look shadows of their former selves. Conlon is probably the obvious one. From the evidence we see it was a poor selection and I have no faith in him. I really hope I'm proven wrong very quickly.
  11. I feel your pain. What a difference 12 months makes. I didnt expect to win today but we just look toothless and we are so desperate not to lose that we don't look like winning.
  12. I would like to hear what Askey has to say. Clarke has won one game more than Askey this season yet he is considered a better option. The Walsall team was his own team and it was not pulling up trees. Our players last season seemed extremely fit, certainly compared to those playing under Aspin.
  13. Exactly. We need our best team out rather than constantly making changes to the team and formation. We all know we have several players that shouldn't be getting near a shirt. Our first 11 is definitely good enough to move up this league. Lets hope we get them back soon and he plays them in a formation they know and will win games.
  14. Its a lottery the way he is picking teams. Players won't know what is going on.
  15. I thought he was one of the Directors now?
  16. How do you know the owners have not said we will stick with Pugh unless someone comes in for less money. From what I know, those obvious replacements want more than Askey was on and we have already lost £1million due to Lockdown.
  17. Couldn't agree more. Everyone is desperate to point the figure. It won't be long before Speedy or the owners are the next target. People actually admit they don't know what he does but think he should be sacked. You couldnt make it up.
  18. I cant agree with that. I thought Tranmere were the better team throughout the game. We were never in control as can be seen from the possession and shots. Askey is the right man for the job but I need to see more from the players to boss the game more and not to give away the ball cheaply.
  19. I should have listened then. He ruins my Saturday night with his negativity.
