Has anyone got a link to Aspin comments about some of the players not pulling up trees.

 

There was a bit in last night's Sentinel:

 

Aspin said: "We need to try to add competition for places and I would still like to bring in a couple more players, probably loan players.You are always trying to make your team better. There are some players we have taken a gamble on, and I would say that some have to do better than they are doing at the moment. But the main thing is that, like any club, you need a bit of luck because you need your main players to be fit and to play the majority of games during the season."

So you know him well, you know the reasons why he went off the rails. Like anyone that has experienced the dark side he needs a fresh start and needs to leave the past in the past. Let’s move on and help him to help us achieve success.?

 

What's that supposed to mean? Do you know him well? All I'm going by is the evidence in front of me which all says he's not got a good track record. As I said I hope the penny's dropped and he focuses on football but it can only be a hope at this stage. Of course I want him to be a success but surely you must agree he's a big gamble, or don't you think there's any risk in his signing?

Dodds has been playing as a striker all pre season. We’ve got 4/5 strikers at present - Dodds, Pope, Miller, Quigley and Kanu.

Aspin hasn’t said he’s gonna play wingbacks so Kanu won’t be able to play on the wing.

 

If we bring in more players the squad is getting too big. We needed quality this year and we’ve again gone for quantity.

 

We need cover in left wingback and if we’re playing 3 centre half’s another centre back to cover and then we should go with what we have till January. Otherwise there are players we have signed that won’t get a game and with a budget as tight as ours that’s just unacceptable.

I am not sure about Legge so far unless he has improved since his woeful performance at Kidsgrove. Joyce looks steady and Manny may come good but I suspect he is a workhorse rather than a creative player.

Time will tell, but I've been impressed with the recruitment.

We had half a dozen decent players and have added to them with a mix of experience and potential.

I think Aspo has his head screwed on and his feet firmly on the ground.

I'm quietly confident of a much improved season.

Was. Past results are no guide to future performance. He should be good but only time will tell. Cambridge let him go so maybe they felt they had had the best out of him.

I think Rawlinson is good cover for Legge and really Dodds a squad player if we are really desperate.

That is why he played at Nuneaton in the B team.

He isn’t the player he was before he left and only a bench warmer at Shrewsbury and Chesterfield.

There’s risk associated with any signing for differing reasons. With Ricky let’s leave the past behind and be positive over a new start. Aspo doesn’t seem the sort to take any nonsense and Rudgie is the epitome of all top managers, someone who can get the best out of his players.

Squad is shaping up nicely for me. If as Aspin says he wants to play 3 at the back, I do feel another centre back is needed (I don’t believe Monty is the answer). Vassell could prove key in providing cover across the back 3 and both wing back positions, but another option is needed.

 

Bar a young keeper as 3rd choice I don’t think we are too far away. I don’t know why we let Slinn go but in Aspin we must trust.

They seemed keen enough on him at Mansfield. Glad we got him and not them.

I'm not his biggest fan and I know it's only pre-season but Dodds has been head and shoulders the best performer of Aspin's additions.
