  1. What a nasty piece of work you are. You do realise he is human and people can get things wrong? How do you know he’s stealing a living? He’s got a vast amount of knowledge about not only Vale but football in general. Totally unnecessary to abuse him, get a grip.

  2. I for one think Askey did absolutely the right thing with the team last night. The League Cup has never been kind to us and we’ve had two difficult away draws, plus what’s the point of having a plum tie against Everton when you can’t go and see it?? Last year we had a good 11, this year we’ve got a strong 22+ and all of those players will want game time otherwise there will be some discontent which we don’t want. That is the trade off. Last night was arguably the least important game of the season for me but one where we’ve seen a battling generally performance against strong o

  3. Better goalkeeper ? Tick Cover at left back? Tick Goalscoring striker? Tick Replacement winger for Browne? Tick Better squad depth than last season? Tick On paper one of our most well rounded transfer windows in recent years. Time will tell if JA has it right, but I think they have pulled a blinder!

  5. I've been impressed with Hurst. Sure some people watch the game with their backs turned to the screen. He's caused their right back all sorts of trouble. He's a young lad developing. Of course he'll have things he can improve on. I'm sure he and the management team know that. I don't think they need FM experts belittling them on a forum.

  6. We should be aiming to win this. If the Everton game is on sky, that's a lot of revenue. If it isn't, we will still get as much or maybe even more revenue from Vale and Everton fans buying it through Vale's iFollow portal, because Everton don't have one. 25,000 viewers would be £200,000. The Shanahans deserve that money.

  7. Why does Fitzpatrick get stick so much? Is it because CJ Hamilton ran past him a couple of times in a friendly when he had no fitness? He's a solid L2 LB and had another dependable game again, clearing one off the line at 1-0. Vale fans always need a scapegoat don't they? No player was anything less than a 7/10 today. Very decent professional performance with a lot of positives.

  14. Wow I've really upset the natives. It's not abuse its a personal opinion that he is a poor commentator. Others have agreed one called it inane . There were a few comments on the Blackpool game where at times the chit chat was bordering on cringeworthy. I've seen derogatory comments about McKirdy, Robinson and numerous others but I find the reaction to my comment as really OTT. The problem on here is that if you aren't one of the' in crowd ' and offer something that doesn't pander then you get slated. One of our esteemed posters who everybody looks up to and puts on a ped

  15. Delighted with this signing, and it's the best transfer window we've had for a long time! I think HM will become as popular as Gareth Ainsworth did )who also had some critics!). But, I have some disappointments with this saga: Disappointed in some of our fans, having to resort to attacks on his personal appearance - that's the kind of thing I loathed about Clive Tyldesley and Jonathan Pearce...and the Irish commentator whose name I can never remember! Not for them to comment on a player's appearance (tattoos/hairstyle, etc) and no need to do it on here if you're proved wrong about so

  16. Pleased with the McKirdy signing,I remember watching him against was it Dulwich Hamlet in a televised cup match and thinking he was the kind of player we needed, it's up to him now at 23 to carve a career out for himself, if he hits the ground running the Vale crowd will love him. I also thought as the week dragged on that the club maybe looking at the finances with Covid not doing the decent thing and going away, and would try and save a salary, so once again more thanks to Carol, it seems to me she is just as competitive as any owner in the football league without being unrealistic and

  18. Frustrated to lose, we were ok second half and their goal was horrific to concede from our own throw in! Very poor that. Ten changes against a side at full strength that made the play offs a league above away from home and we gave them a good test so I can’t be too downbeat... our first XI would possibly of won that. Bodes well for the season that we were competitive against a L1 side with ten changes and still Pope, Amoo and Gibbons to return to the squad so plenty of positives. Losing the Everton tie potentially isn’t the be all with no fans in attendance, the Exeter game then a week off

  20. Embarrassing that was. I don’t like that aspect of Sprosons commentary. I know that these ex players provide a nice foil to the Blakemans and @Phil Bof this world, but to me radio stoke shouldnt be having someone on there whos agenda is to promote his own players at the detriment of those on the pitch. It was very noticeable what he was doing to Gibbo last season especially. I actually had it on very good authority that Sproson wanted to represent Gibbo after he first broke into the side, so to me that says everything about the agenda he has. Our full backs weren’t brilliant yesterday, but no

  21. Good performance, very comfortable and one positive was just how much better we looked all round than Crawley who will likely be a mid table side so bodes well. Penalty was stone wall and a red card possibly but luckily didn’t affect the outcome. Cullen shown why he is a good striker and why I’m glad we gave him another year, keep fit he could hit 20 a season IMO. Conlon looks in great form now he’s allowed more freedom, his engine is a bonus and gives us that energy and bite and can cause damage. Rodney is the fastest player I think I’ve seen in a long time! Had no right to get some of th

  24. For me, bowers got it wrong with mckirdy and held his hands up straight away both on here and Twitter. As far as commentators him and acres are the only decent ones on radio stoke imo. Give me bowers over bloody blakeman any day! i will agree with Darren on one point though and it’s one I regularly make on here that people don’t like. If you don’t follow the crowd or a couple of esteemed posters on here your shot down and laughed at. As with vale1995 loads of you were laughing and making snide comments and the info was spot on, correct deal and even correct shirt number. Seen a coup

  25. When is the last time we had such a strong squad? I always thought last season even before a ball was kicked that our first 11 was as good as anyone else's outside perhaps a few teams. But with two or three injuries there would be a big drop in quality. We don't have that problem now. Even Amoo who was pretty much a guaranteed starter when fit previously will have to really fight for his place once he returns from injury, and certainly doesn't walk back into the side. Tom Pope has gone from one of the first names on the team-sheet to probably a bit part player. That's no disrespect to him, he'

  29. Why no away fans? Hypothetically, a Vale fan can't watch Vale away at Stoke but can travel to work in Manchester. An exiled fan in London can travel to Vale Park to watch a Home game. I am now thinking that virus restrictions are causing more damage than the virus itself.

  30. No, you’re quite right. No one will, including myself. But I don’t see how tonight’s team selection is going to benefit a season which still have 45 out of 46 games still to play. However, it seriously impinged our chances of League Cup progression. That, to me, is the difference.

  31. Don't think there's much between Burgess and Whitehead. On tonight and Saturday's performance, I'd say our best midfield three are Manny, Joyce and Conlon.

  32. I thought Hurst showed some promise. I think it's easy to forget how inexperienced he is. That was only his third senior appearance and clearly League Two footballers don't emerge fully formed. I think a couple more starts in the FL Trophy and he could be pushing for a place in the squad. I wonder if Whitehead has edged ahead of Burgess for the next League game? He looked really good I felt. As did Manny but I suspect the club will want to ease him in gradually and not rush into giving him a League start. Robinson was off the pace tonight but I think that's to be expected with the la

  33. Obviously disappointing to lose but it could be of long-term benefit to have a few free midweeks coming up. (with just 1 EFL Trophy fixture in the next 4 midweeks). Also great to hear that Oyeleke had a good game. IMO he's the best player we've got and is potentially the best midfielder in the division, and could be the difference in us finishing top 3 or not.

  34. This forum is also full of people that see THEIR arse if we have a striker that doesn't score a hat trick every game. We lost to a scrappy couple of goals with our reserve team against a 1st team in a league higher than us. Why single out anyone?

  35. Why can't people just accept that some of us are capable of criticising a player's performance as opposed to criticising the individual? It's a bit strange how defensive some get over it. Nobody is making anybody a scapegoat. They're simply observing what a lot of us saw tonight - a poor Theo Robinson performance. Doesn't mean we're saying he's a poor footballer and should be hung out to dry, does it?

  36. Wow, JA puts out virtually our reserve side to face an unchanged Fleetwood, one of the best teams in L1. That says two things to me: i) it's a huge vote of confidence in those players and I bet everyone believes they can come away with a win; and ii) it's a strong, determined message to the rest of L1 that this season promotion is our absolute priority. Well done, JA - we're right behind you and the lads this evening. It's going to be a great game!

  37. So called fan?? a bit strong imo The Sproson family are legends at Vale no doubt about that(i went school with Phils nephew) but for me you can criticise if you dont think their commentary is much cop,yes he is a legend but for me he has conflicting interests so shouldnt commentate how he does.

  38. The part that gets me as well as the slating of the full backs is not pronouncing Conlon as one word he always says Con lon Fantastic player for us but should you really have a football agent doing commentary? Thought Griff was good the other night

  41. I thought Sproson was pretty fair today to be honest, the full backs were a bit worrying as the game wore on, and Crawley threw on extra attackers. Maybe he forgot that as things stand both are considered as back up options to Gibbo and Monty so they did OK really. I thought at times they were left exposed with no cover, so they ended up one v one a bit too often for my liking today but possibly still got beaten a little to easily on a couple of those occasions. Players are still a bit rusty yet so it's too early to judge.

  42. Think people get influenced by Sproston droning on about Fitzpatrick throughout the commentary. Funnily enough, I can never remember Sproston saying anything negative about Crooks when played leftback [emoji848]

  44. Fitzpatrick and Mills aren't going to be two of our better players. But we should all remember they were making their competitive debut for the club and should only improve. As back up to Montano and Gibbons i'm perfectly fine with them from what they've shown so far. On a more positive note, surely the trio of Brown, Smith and Legge have to be right up there as the best in the league.

  45. Bowers is worth 1000x Blakemans. He's a Vale fan, and has posted on here for a very, very long time. Bit harsh. If you're going to target someone at RS I can think of about four other names who actually deserve it! Ooh I like this.

  47. I've no idea how he'll perform for us, I know it won't be boring, I also know he was leading scorer last season at Carlisle, so it's good we are getting proven lads in, knocking him before he plays because of his socks and hair is just a little silly in my opinion, what's that got to do with the way he plays ? Also saying that you have spoken to him and he doesn't want to play for the Vale is just plain ludicrous, trying to set the supporters against the Lad before he's kicked a ball is unfortunate why would you do that ?, Fortunately the more sensible amongst us will support him and wi

  48. Exactly right! There has been lots of talk during the revolution of Askey and Carol taking great care over players approach and attitude. If they have given him the green light, then that's all I need. I back their diligence. No one has any solid evidence that he disrupts the dressing room over and above a bit of noise in Carlisle where he didnt settle. He is back home now and will give the vale 100% . Best example we have is that some poster who knows him says he didnt want to be a vale player... the next day he signed. No one knows the truth other than Harry and the management
