I cannot stand Port Vale fans who say 'little old Port Vale'. What point are they trying to make? That we are little? Or that other people say we're little? Why on earth do we repeat it? For our owner to say it just winds me up. Don't repeat it ffs! Whilst Moore is a 'name', he is coming off a disastrous spell at Huddersfield who have massively improved from the second he left. The idea that we should be grateful he's here is patronising. He's here as it was the best offer - not out of altruism for some poor, little club he felt sorry for. Moore is at PVFC's level and that is why he's our manager. Don't try and pretend I should be well chuffed because he's above us, as Carol implies.

I think there are only a handful of people whose head I would call for after three games. Jim Gannon, Mark Stein, Steve Foley, Ian Cranson. I wouldn't even call for Lou Macari's head. Darren Moore has a free hit here. The damage is already done. He needs our backing 100%.

You do realise that DM has been left with one of the - if not THE - worst Vale squads of the last 40 years, and no way of changing it before the end of the season?? If we had Guardiola or Klopp in charge, we would be in EXACTLY the same position, i.e. having to decide whether a CBA Loft or inexperienced Dipepa plays up front with a half-fit Wilson, or which CB / Midfielder gets to play LB. I just thought I’d check as your post suggests you weren’t aware of this not so minor issue.

I said when Carol took over that the vicious cycle would repeat itself in a few years, as it's always the fkin same with you lot. And so it has. Some of you really do have very very short memories and demand the earth for the £300 you pay every 12 months. As for the comment that this team is the worst in 40 years. It's not the worst in 4 years, let alone 40 for Christ's sake.

Cannot understand how fans can question DM this early in his tenure, this time next season may be. The people to blame for our demise, 1 Carol she is in charge. 2 DF after last year to not sign players in key positions is absolutely criminal. OK it would cost money but how much is relegation going to cost.

Most teams in this formation do this, not a chance I'd want to risk a single DM covering all that ground. The most worrying aspect is Lowe in midfield for me, if we can't get the midfield right then the entire team falls apart. No progression on the pitch, and so pedestrian in the middle the defence are served up for a slaughter. The problem with Moore's crap subs isn't that the subs he is making are crap, it's the subs themselves are crap. We lack options and they are basically downgrades every time a sub is made. It's hard to blame him for what he has to work with.

There are many successful football managers who are not articulate, it doesn't matter. Being articulate is not what matters for a manager, it's performances on the pitch that mater and the two are not related. I would argue that Andy Crosby was more articulate when giving interviews on camera than Darrell Clarke. Give Darren Moore a chance, being in Le 1 with a Lge 2 squad is tough.

We are were we are. Our recruitment has been dreadful and we are up against it but for all my and others criticism of our DOF, we simply have to hope and pray that the Manager and team we have can do what is required. So, we have to get behind them until the end of the season - there will be plenty of time for recriminations in the summer but whatever happens, I can't see how DM can be criticised for much...

You cannot call for the managers head after 3 games, just look at what he has got to work with, an unbalanced squad of sub-standard low confidence players, many of whom do not even seem to be prepared to put a shift in. Alex Ferguson would struggle to get a performance out of them. I don't believe that Moore will walk if (when) we go down as it looked odds-on when he took the job. I guess he will have a big say in who should stay and who should go in the end of season clearout. I also think that Darren will be telling flitcroft exactly what he wants in terms of replacements. Keep the faith with Darren, I trust him more than the clown dof.

I have genuinely never seen the fans of any other club exhibit the defeatism and self-deprecating views I have seen from Vale fans on social media over the years. It's like that "born in Crewe, live in Crewe, die in Crewe" banner but worse.

Are you alright in the head? Inherited an imbalanced squad, with no strikers, no left sided options that are all way way way too nice and don't have an ounce of fight in them. What is he supposed to do? The players brought in to the club since 1st January 2023, across 3 managers, have lost 31 games from 54! Winning 11!

The OP used to be a bit of a comedy poster, going on about hammers and the like, and coming out with funny lines about the state of Vale. For some reason he's now trying to turn into a serious commentator, but just comes across as an utterly clueless joke of a poster, and is not in the least bit funny. Bring back the hammers! 😆

Formation changed we looked better for it overall. A wonder strike then our squad of jelly return to type. 3rd game. THE CAPTAIN literally hands an open goal to the opposition and the squad of jelly shat themselves. Very few players wanted the ball. What is Darren Moore supposed to do with a group of senior players where the CAPTAIN has had probably the worse season of his professional career, the vice captain is sulking. The senior players signed by Flitcroft since we were promoted are ability wise <ovf censored>, physically and mentally weak. But yes it must be Darren Moore’s fault for the formation and training.

This is just dumb. Wasting time listening to manager comment as if you're ever going to hear anything insightful when it's always, always going to be the same old tired things. Yawn. Also don't see any alternatives that would apparently do better either. Yes, lets blame DF (and he should go) but it's not going to change absolutely anything at this point. We have a poor squad who can't score at present, Moore's been appointed and has made some changes to his credit even if things don't look good. Yeah 👍🏻 Nathan has been poor all season & struggled at this level last season & the last time we were in league 1. What does his 300 odd games have to do with anything? You go on recent form & Lopata has looked really good in the few games he’s played. Moore said he’s been fit & available since before Cheltenham so to not have him even in the squad for the past 3 games is baffling. Jason Lowe has played over 400 career games & id have Walters in before him he’s that bad

I’m not against Moore and the recent results haven’t been his fault. I will say I wasn’t overly thrilled with his appointment. He has no successful experience of relegation battles. I’d rather have us got a nasty <ovf censored> in who’ll give the players the kick up the arse they need. Think Moore’s too nice. Not asking for him to do a Deeney and slag his players off in public. But they could do with some home truths in the dressing room. And calling out as a team in the interviews. It’s too nicey nicey.

It's not too surprising that selections are being questioned because we're running out of time and we don't have any margin for error. For me Lopata is the first name on the team sheet in defence, and I'm astonished that any manager of any length of tenure would think any different. He's head and shoulders above any other option there.

I thought her saying that was an insult to fans intelligence. She didn't even interview anyone of a 'lower calibre' or attempt to. The appointment was an appeasement to cover up the real issues and they are all ultimately her responsibility.

I think this is the case. They probably thought it would take some heat off the DoF but it could actually do the opposite if we keep losing with people being less likely to vent their rage at the big name manager. I do think people will wake up to Moore and his nonsense quite quickly though. Especially Vale fans.

On Moore, he clearly has a fair few qualities as evidenced by his Wednesday stint, but you have to question whether those qualities are the right fit for PVFC in its current situation. I really didn't understand his team selection yesterday. 4231 with 3 narrow attacking midfielders, with neither Chislett or Weir in their right positions. Lopata completely bombed out of a squad that can't keep a clean sheet. Was it just a case of 'get the biggest name in'? It's a really controversial view that will get a load of stick, but we needed a manager who can immediately tighten up a defence on a budget. Perhaps the manager of the team with the fourth-best defensive record in League 1 last season (on a small budget) would have been the better short-term option. I'm still behind him. He's probably a decent option for League 2 next season, and he's been dealt an very difficult hand. However, I'd argue DC was dealt a far worse one at Cheltenham.

The worry for me is that Moore could well turn out to be a disastrous appointment and were too busy blaming the players and the poor recruitment to notice it. A bit like the free pass that Michael Brown got.

It's 3 games. No manager bounce. However I do agree with the opening poster about his interviews, my friend is a Doncaster fan and said to me that DM isn't the sharpest knife in the block. I have to agree. I just can't imagine him interviewing well.

Whether DM is a success or failure, time will tell. However, yet again, we didn't interview anyone else for the role. So that's a Director of Football appointed without a competitive application process. A manager in Crosby appointed without a competitive application process. And now another managerial appointment with an interview shortlist of one. It hardly seems a failsafe approach to getting the best candidate for the job.

it's not a great start is it. A few of us had some misgivings right when he was appointed. I hope Moore can keep us in this division but the outlook looks bleak

Crosby I thought often came across really well in interviews, even in adversity, albeit he often used the same cliches. But Moore stand there and do nothing but drool as long as I saw what he was at least trying to do on the pitch. Our fortunes haven't changed and they won't because the squad is THAT bad. But no interview after a game is going to sound too clever when you're losing every week.

Darrell Clarke has done. Darren Moore will not. I'd genuinely get on the phone to Crosby and say all is forgiven. It might stop some of these... gentlemen...that we have in our playing squad from sulking like children too.
