  1. Yeah I was pretty depressed with a couple of minutes to go at the scores, Charlton missed a 1 on 1 on the 98th minute as well which would of been a huge blow. Shrews dropping two points is massive as their GD is terrible, Reading dropping points keeps them close ahead of a huge game. Big weekend, Charlton go to Bolton, Reading go to Portsmouth Shrews host Wigan, Burton go to Orient who are flying at the minute so an opportunity for us if we can find a way to beat Cheltenham. If we can get out the drop zone above Charlton with 3 games in hand and stretch the lead on Cheltenham back to 5 points that would be a huge boost.

  3. According to this newspaper we did play last night after all. Can we have the point added to our tally please?

  4. I agree we just have to concentrate on ourselves and not worry about what other teams are doing. I would call Saturday fixture a must not lose but we have to find a way of getting wins at home especially with those teams around us like Shrews,Lincoln,Fleetwood. Our next 6 games will probably decide our fate.

  5. If we have to mend and make do, I'd quite like a front three of Mighten, Wilson and Chislett. Mighten's played on the left before. With Loft, Dipepa and possibly Plant (who doesn't appear too far away) as bench options (and we'd possibly have to swop in Loft for Wilson from time to time if his body can't cope with two games a week). Then hopefully Uche and possibly Ben Garrity also available for the final weeks. I'd also consider bringing on a defender in the closing stages and throwing big Jesse upfront if we're chasing. It's not great, it's not ideal, but it may be OK for us to win enough games with the above...

  6. Partly depends on what Gayle wants from his next club. If he wants more money he won't be at Vale Park. I've seen him linked to Wednesday and Derby, where he's more likely to get minutes from the bench. He might be looking for a big pay cheques in Saudi or The States for a season. He might just love playing football and want to spend as much time as possible on the pitch. It is odd he still hasn't gone somewhere. I was expecting him to sign for someone within 48 hours of leaving Stoke. Normally players get released with a club already lined up but too late to get the deal done on deadline day.

  7. I can't understand why we didn't approach Burnley and ask for a loan forward as part of the deal from Tommy Mac

  9. Moore played Mighton at wingback at Wednesday.

  11. Nice little boost for us with Barnsley getting a stoppage time leveller at Shrews. I think it’s them primarily who are the target we could haul in.

  12. I wonder how many keyboard contributors who find tonight's postponement 'convenient' have actually travelled to the Posh? i left home in mid Wales at 12 noon and checked into The Saxon Cross in Corby this evening. Radio Cambridge alerted me to the postponement at 7pm...... It's far from convenient !......and costly.

  13. The only thing horrendous about the windows is our continued inability to sign proven forwards. There has been some good recruitment, albeit this time we’re short at LWB. The likes of Ripley, Chislett, Arblaster, Devine aren’t bad recruits. We played good football, with wingbacks early in the season. Injuries have had a major impact although we have been too rigidly fixed to a system. The plan all along is to get our own young players into the team. Sadly the best of these, James Plant, is another on the injury list. They’re not simply building an “office”, it’s a facility for the players, including moving the gym to allow Lorne St stand to be fully opened. We NEEDED to appoint a coach/manager and Crosby, for whatever reason, got the gig. It didn’t work out. You’re right it’s not a gameshow, it’s life, and things don’t always go to script.

  14. As the window panned out Gibbo would have been a good signing. However, given the choice of a good centreforward or Gibbo the former was clearly the spot to spend money on. Being optimistic if Moore really did his research before taking the job it's pretty clear we are desperate for a centreforward. That probably means there is some kind of plan to bring someone in which has a reasonable probability of happening. I really can't see him being here to add a relegation to his CV. The obvious one Dwight Gayle who probably had his best season playing under Moore.

  18. I'd think there may be a possibility. Not 100% sure but I think Gayle scored his goals at Albion when Moore was manager.

  20. DC made us difficult to beat and then we went from there. We need a repeat of that. Clean sheets would be enough to keep us up with a few more penalties and OG’s 😀

  21. I see Darren Moore's brother works in Finnish football. I wonder if he can advise on whether there are any free agent strikers from places like there?

  22. He's got a job at Royal Mail? Nah seriously, we gotta back him until the end of the season - maybe in the summer he moves on but for now he is a vale player!

  24. There is a cup final tonight. Stoke City v QPR. Could further the possibility of Stoke coming down to L1. Maybe Crewe can come up to L1 and PV remain in L1. Then 2024/25 would be very interesting. But could Stoke fans be educated in the proper use of toilets.

  25. Remember getting relegated at Cambridge back in the past. It was carnage, Vale fans kicking off everywhere. They painted the fencing, ruined a brand new pair of jeans , could not get the paint off.

  30. Northampton have signed Liam Moore today until the end of the seasonal excellent signing. It goes to show there are still good free agents out there. We have to find a way of getting a few through the door to give us a better chance of staying up. I still don't see how we can score enough goals to win matches.

  32. Only way that will happen is if he has a Claus in his contract

  33. I think it would have to have been done prior to transfer deadline day as the club would still hold his registration which is why I presume the <ovf censored> did that with Dwight Gayle.

  34. I'm sure a certain proportion of our fan base that post on here want relegation purely so they can come on here and pontificate just how right they were and how "nobody listened".

  35. Flitcroft, fair enough on the player recruitment side and clearly, for whatever reason, the Crosby appointment didn’t work out. On the flip side, you have to give him credit for the appointment of Clarke, and with it promotion, or are you ignoring that? I’m not a fan of Flickers but I’ll back Carol’s judgement for a while longer. If we’re relegated then the inquest can be held at that point. Up ‘til then the team need support from the stands. You seem to have an agenda against the owners. I think you’re way out of touch with the vast majority of our fans on that score. It’s easy to come on here spouting drivel so why not make your point, stand outside the main entrance at the next home game and protest away to your hearts content.

  37. Speak out about what? It's a community football club, we aren't living in Gaza mate. Its common knowledge we got promoted a season earlier than planned without the required infrastructure to sustain in league 1. We have an upper league 2 budget and work is being done so we can sustain in league 1. Would it be different if we got promoted when planned? Who knows but it may have freed up some money for players and we may not have had to resort to panic buyings and signings over the last couple of seasons as budgets have dictated. If we pull thru this then hopefully the pitch forks can be put away and start afresh next season. If not then we are just in league 2, it will be meltdown with the lynch mob, but it's not the end of the world. I'll be gutted but as long as we show fight and the supporters get behind the lads, like yesterday, I'll be ok with it. Its also points that have been endlessly debated for months now and some people will never accept the reality of where the club is financially and the simple fact that If we want to progress we have to be financially secure with the relative budgets for the relative leagues.

  38. If you are a true fan you will be there to support the players no matter what. Funny how the crowd seemed to be fully behind the players yesterday, says something about those that stayed away.

  39. Nice one Andy. From what I saw today there was 0, yes 0, negativity towards DF, players, Carol etc etc. Maybe the keyboard warriors are just that, keyboard warriors. Were they even there today? Or have they all burnt their season tickets in the pyre, stoking the pyre with their pitch forks, because we haven't got a seasoned striker lol and we get told to give our heads a wobble looool Just get behind the lads, like today, for the rest of the season, like proper supporters. If we go down, so fking what? The board, players and club have tried and if that ain't good enough for certain people then so what? You forget they are human beings, decent people. The levels of abuse from grown men are just embarrassing and dismal tbh. Literally got no time for it anymore when the lads are trying on the pitch. UTV [emoji123] KTF [emoji120]

  40. No he didn’t put it in reply to anything. He made a separate post just saying after 4 months out it was nice to be back on the grass. The Vale Twitter account retweeted him not the other way round. Plenty of things to criticise at the moment but this is reaching a bit quite honestly.

  41. If Flitcroft left PV tomorrow. He'd point to being behind a promotion, establishing a young player structure that has brought many players through to the first team and resulted in many players being sold on to big clubs and having a team establish itself in L1. His reputation is at risk if relegation occurs. I don't think it will, but I think the manager Crosby keeps going across the cliff edge too often. The club is massively in a better place than the Smurthwaite years and Flitcroft has been important in that.

  42. Are you going to do the same for a Vale promotion scenario? 😄
