  1. Imagine if they got another 3 points due to a mass pitch invasion before the end of the season? Might be worth Carol putting on 10 free coaches from VP to one of their home games in March....

  2. I never got the "love in" with Reading. If the shoe was on the other foot Southern clubs would not give a monkeys chuff.

  3. I was wrong. So very wrong. Although his stubbornness to change formation and tactics annoyed the hell out of me. Crosby was the least of our problems.

  4. So: Crosby out - Achieved Flitcroft out Carol out Darren Moore out All the players out bar Garrity and Ripley Patrick out? Hancock out? I said when Carol took over that the vicious cycle would repeat itself in a few years, as it's always the fkin same with you lot. And so it has. Some of you really do have very very short memories and demand the earth for the £300 you pay every 12 months. As for the comment that this team is the worst in 40 years. It's not the worst in 4 years, let alone 40 for Christ's sake.

  5. Remember Carol said we will see the real Darren Moore side after 3 games. God help us.

  6. 1 point from 23rd, 21st, and 20th when you’ve been brought in to help avoid relegation is ‘not good’. I expected some degree of impact - nothing major, but just a sign that someone competent was in the dugout. He’ll get time, but this slow start has likely killed our survival hopes and we can’t just pretend these results were inevitable. We should have picked up 4-5 points.

  7. Fleetwood looked on a par to Middlesbrough to me. Well above our level. Hence I don't get the booing of our players.

  8. If Flitcroft doesn't sort out this monumental balls up you won't catch me defending him again I can tell you that.

  9. Warren they aren't. The league table tells you how good they are. The Port vale benevolent society made them look good.

  10. If Reading escape the drop, I'd still be going nuts with the league over allowing them to sign players like Smith and Knibbs. They should NEVER have been allowed to assemble the squad they have given what's happened. It's basically cheating someone else out of a league one place. Relegation minimum punishment is what they should get.

  11. I think there was every appetite for a few years of mid-table. There wasn’t for 31 defeats in 54.

  12. It's a lot easier for Port Vale and our budget to sign good League Two players. We managed to transform the side from nonsense to be able to punch above our weight and win promotion quickly.

  13. I’m obviously one of the <ovf censored> because I can’t see how sacking managers off on the back of what is essentially poor recruitment is financially prudent, or shows any long term planning. In fact sacking managers at a point in the season where the new incumbent can’t recruit players shows no planning whatsoever. I also can’t see how repeatedly recruiting a squad totally bereft of goals will engage the fans in any way. It’s hard to compute, for me at least, how relegation will increase ticket sales or bring in more revenue. As for sustainability, are you telling me that all those “new” season ticket holders we picked up after promotion will be renewing if we’re relegated? Much of what you say in your post has been wrecked by decisions made presumably by David Flitcroft our DoF.

  14. The plan: (Made simple for <ovf censored> heads) Running a football club with limited financial resources requires careful planning, strategic decision-making, and a focus on long term sustainability. Here are some key principles that such a club should consider lads: 1. Financial prudence:The club should prioritize financial stability above short-term success. This means avoiding excessive spending on player wages and transfer fees that could lead to financial strain. Implementing strict budgeting and financial controls is essential to ensure that the club operates within its means. 2. Investing in youth development: Developing a strong youth academy can be a cost-effective way to nurture homegrown talent and provide a pipeline of players for the first team. By investing in youth development programs, the club can reduce reliance on expensive transfers and build a strong foundation for the future. 3. Scouting and recruitment: Instead of competing for high priced signings in the transfer market, the club should focus on scouting and recruiting talented players with potential. This requires a robust scouting network and a thorough analysis of player performance and potential. Signing players on free transfers or loan deals can also be a cost effective strategy. 4. Maximizing revenue streams: While the club may not have the financial resources of larger clubs, it can still explore opportunities to maximize revenue streams. This could include increasing ticket sales through affordable pricing, securing sponsorship deals with local businesses and leveraging digital and merchandising opportunities to engage fan and generate additional income. 5. Community engagement: Building strong ties with the local community can provide valuable support and resources for the club. This could involve hosting community events, engaging with local schools and youth organizations, and partnering with local busineses to promote the club and its activities. A loyal and engaged fan base can provide crucial support, both financially and emotionally, during challenging times. 6. Long term planning: The club should adopt a strategic approach to planning, with clear short-term and long-term objectives. This includes setting realistic targets for on field performance, financial sustainability, and infrastructure development. By establishing a clear vision and direction, the club can make informed decisions that support its overall goals. Overall, running a football club with limited financial resources requires a combination of prudent financial management, strategic planning, and a focus on building strong relationships with fans and the local comunity. By prioritizing sustainability and investin in the development of homegrown talent, such a club can overcome financial challenges and thrive in the long term etc etc etc. I imagine this is what df is going for. Lets put it simple, he isnt there yet.

  15. This thread is unbelievable. The great John rudge who we rightly fate as one of if not the best manager ever started with a relegation and took us down as well as up during his time. The side is gash, the style of play is ponderous, it's like watching Sunday league players who have only been taught to play in small triangle passes. It's going to take a while to sort this out. Moore in for me.

  17. <ovf censored> me have you been watching this group of jelly this season? 1st game in charge 2-1 up 30 minutes to go against a team below and our squad of jelly collapsed. 2nd game. Formation changed we looked better for it overall. A wonder strike then our squad of jelly return to type. 3rd game. THE CAPTAIN literally hands an open goal to the opposition and the squad of jelly shat themselves. Very few players wanted the ball. What is Darren Moore supposed to do with a group of senior players where the CAPTAIN has had probably the worse season of his professional career, the vice captain is sulking. The senior players signed by Flitcroft since we were promoted are ability wise <ovf censored>, physically and mentally weak. But yes it must be Darren Moore’s fault for the formation and training.

  18. I've seen some bizarre posts but Fleetwood on a par with Middlesbrough is right up there. The reason for the booing and quite rightly was that we were gutless and pathetic in that second half. If you decide to sit back and invite pressure and allow the opposition to have all of the ball and show no ambition to get it back and when you do to try and play the ball forward, you are asking for trouble. Fleetwood will be going down with us, they will get a couple of wins and finish above us but we can have a nice trip to them next season I have no doubt about that.

  19. I felt a sense of greater jeopardy tonight. Fleetwood are a good side. I don't know why they are second bottom. The one thing I can take is the central defence played well v Fleetwood until eventually making a mistake caused by the incessant pressure.

  23. Another points deduction for Reading drags them a bit closer back in. You’d hope it would he to our benefit but then we have to actually win some ourselves which is the problem. Reading set for fresh points deduction for HMRC-related issues after hearing WWW.READINGCHRONICLE.CO.UK

  24. All good however the plan gets blown up because this years playing budget has been squandered on poor senior pros and not addressing glaring needs in a squad for 2 transfer windows. Look at the potential of L1 next season and the revenue opportunities . Stoke,Sheffield Wed,Stockport,Crewe,Wrexham. Bare minimum 1 million financial black hole which will have very serious consequences for all of your points and probably some job losses.

  30. Certainly not. Norman claimed we were a bunch of racists. Nobody has brought up Darren Moore’s race once. In fact, I did expect the odd old bigot around but I honestly have not heard anyone use race as a slur against his abilities.

  31. Are you alright in the head? Inherited an imbalanced squad, with no strikers, no left sided options that are all way way way too nice and don't have an ounce of fight in them. What is he supposed to do? The players brought in to the club since 1st January 2023, across 3 managers, have lost 31 games from 54! Winning 11!

  32. This is just dumb. Wasting time listening to manager comment as if you're ever going to hear anything insightful when it's always, always going to be the same old tired things. Yawn. Also don't see any alternatives that would apparently do better either. Yes, lets blame DF (and he should go) but it's not going to change absolutely anything at this point. We have a poor squad who can't score at present, Moore's been appointed and has made some changes to his credit even if things don't look good. It's the best, and only chance we have now of saving the season. Let's just take it game to game, eh?
