Just as well for MK that they haven't issued punishment for the elbow on Harrison on the Lorne Street side that was IMHO worst than the incident with Smith.

Referee saw the incident which is why... all be it not very well!

But usually retrospective action can be taken if the player isn't cautioned during the game, that was my understanding.

No, if the ref sees an incident and deals with it, that's the end of the matter.  Its when a ref misses something altogether, eg off the ball incident, that action can be taken retrospectively.
