Personally, I think it's time to rethink the applause malarkey.  We should do a mini service at the start of each season and read out the names of those who have died in the previous 12 months.  We did something like this after the Covid season and it seemed far more respectful.  Families have a number of ways of having their loved ones commemorated at Vale.  There are obituaries in the programme - these could be added to a section on the official website.  Also, there are regular drive pasts by the statue as part of the deceased's funeral.  These seem far more appropriate than having a load of strangers clapping for someone they've never met.

Yes. The current way of doing things is not working

So if Stone gets injured in a game we can’t bring Stevens on?

I think that's the proof that it's a stupid rumour? - if we couldn't bring him on, what would be the point of naming him on the bench??

If it's suggested we couldn't afford to pay them both, that's even more ridiculous! I don't believe the owners / management wouldn't bring in a player we couldn't afford to pay? I think this shows just how little respect some of our "fans" have for "their" club!

Can’t see Oxford letting us have their players on a pay as you play deal. Will be x % of wage, hasn’t the poster (Daz) confirmed it was a typo just above? As the can’t play both rumour was mentioned before.

Stevens was dropped after the Shrewsbury debacle.

We certainly need those 'strikers' wherever they're hiding. 12 wins so far this season, six of these are 1-0 results, 50%! When are we going to get a hatfull again? I'd even settle for 3 goals in a game,  but one only has to look at our total goals scored and goal difference to see that we're in the bottom half dozen teams in this league!

Been thinking about all these 1 nil wins. The usual appraisal is crap game, deserved to win,  poor pitch, terrible opponents.  I don't think we are giving the vale enough credit.  MK drew at Lincoln last away game. Were 2 up at Wednesday b4 collapsing.  Actually home results are their problem, not away results.  Can't say Exeter,  Charlton,  shrews etc are poor. Perhaps we have made them look poor?  Most of those games we have seen out relatively comfortably imo.

Won't be playing either when we play oxford.  Still paying them though,  presumably.

They are identical games where we virtually limit them to little or no chances.

Lincoln 1-0
Charlton 1-0
Morecambe 1-0
Exeter 1-0
MK 1-0

In those 5 wins we’ve barely been troubled defensively.

Also worth noting MK and Exeter love possession and have high stats for it. Neither did at VP.

Poorer sides unable to cope with the pitch maybe?

Worth noting we’ve yet to lose to anyone at home outside the top 10.

Just as well, considering our home record against the top 10 is appalling for a mid-table team. I'd expect at least a couple more draws in there. Shrewsbury was good, but other than that it's been pretty dire.

That rumour does sound like utter rubbish. But on the off chance that there is something that means we can play, or pay, them at the same time, there's no way we should be picking Stevens over Taylor.

Agree, Stevens’ scoring record is atrocious.

Seriously though you’d hope at some point (sooner rather than later) we shouldn’t have to pick either as starters, with Stone stepping up and our own strikers being fit.  Though that then might open the debate, if everyone is fit (if that ever happens), is Taylor better than our own strikers?

I'm not sure it's a question of better or worse, they are probably all on a level with each other. What it will do is allow us to rotate them dependant on the opposition.

Are they a short back line? Harrison and Proctor and bang balls up to them

Are they big tall cloggers? Taylor and willow can run rings around them

I think the Harrison Taylor partnership could be the one to go with if everyone's fit. I heard on ale and Vale they've got 100 league goals as a partnership. They clearly work well together.

I thought his “pay” was a typo because I’d heard this rumour that we can’t play them both. Or are you suggesting they only get paid if they play??

It’s clearly bollox, however you can have clauses in the loans in which we only pay the wages if the player plays, if not Oxford / the parent club do. Clearly have no idea if that clause would be in and still makes no sense, I think it’s because Clarke Dosent rate Stevens and since he’s not our player, there is no point in selecting him

Based on our remaining games I think we are probably going to be safe. I suspect we will probably finish the season 12 or 13th.

Maybe our recent injury crisis fell at the right time in the season. We've only a couple of games left against the bigger sides. Our first 11 is good enough to realistically get at least 15 points from the remaining games. That should leave is comfortably above the relegation zone. Probably shows we have a decent league 1 squad; though somewhat below some of the wealthier clubs. Closing that gap isn't going to be easy; or cheap.

PROBABLY safe??

50/1 to go DOWN at Bet 365...😁😁
