January transfer window

Recommended Posts

Taylor was a great start. We now need a centre-back, preferably one that doesn't look like he's running through treacle when moving. Another decent forward would also be nice but we may have to wait until the summer to fill that position.

Despite everything this season I still think we have the makings of a decent side. We just need the right man in charge and a couple of good additions, while shipping out the likes of Crooks, Whitehead, McKirdy and Robinson. Brown, Smith, Gibbons, Conlon, Oyeleke, Taylor, Worrall, Amoo and Pope, despite the latters tender age, are all good players for League Two level. Rodney and Hurst have plenty of potential.

There's plenty there for the new manager to work with.

Terrific signing. Just what we want.Young striker with pace. Looks good in the air. Scores goals with both feet. Been around a couple of seasons, so knows what to expect. To me there is more optim

Joe, I thought that Jake gave us energy that I struggle to remember anyone else doing for sometime. He also motivated Burgess who now looks lost. Together they formed a partnership that  allowed Joyce

The Pope question will need to be answered sooner or later.   with the salary cap (he will count as the average salary not what he is actually earning) then we may struggle to improve on him, but if

Slightly off-topic but Stoke are having a great window.

One of the best defensive sides in the EFL who struggle to score; they've added Matondo, Clarke, and Norrington-Davies, all young and with quality.

Irritating, to say the least.

A 20 year old who couldn't get into Schalke team who were 34 without a win is hardly going to tear up a brutal League like The Championship.

Just heard from a trusted source that pope is out for season

If true that could be his last game in a Vale shirt as his contract is up and he's 36 in August.

Make you happy then.

I beg your pardon ?

I've never once suggested anything of the sort, i like Pope as a player. Don't like him as a person or spokesperson for the club.

Big difference.

I know professional players can be insured for career ending injuries (both personally and on a club/employment level) but I wonder if there are specialist policies out there to cover wages on long term injuries? Bet our premiums would be horrifying with the amount of limpers we've got on the books.

How does this 22 man squad thing work if you have long term injuries? Is it simply a matter of deregistering players. If you do can they be put back in or is that it for the season? All seems a bit complex

If that is the case, it's a real blow. But, it means he can be removed from the 22 man squad making room for a replacement, if Carole can afford it

One of the best players I've seen in an away shirt at Vale Park in recent years has handed in a transfer request at Posh.Ex-Grimsby player Siriki Dembele is attracting attention from Brentford,Bournemouth,Fulham and Watford.

I would expect once you are out you are out.  Set the 22 for first half of the season, then have the option of changing this during January

Off topic but talking of Posh, was astonished to see Kanu in their first team.

He was superb, in fact when I git home I googled him and even though he’s represented the Ivory Coast U17’s, he’s eligible through residency to play for Scotland
