Rob Lainton

Wrex

Recommended Posts

Rob Lainton has been named as Wrexham's Player of the Season for 2018–19 after keeping a club record 25 clean sheets in 49 appearances. We will likely see him again next season if (big if) he helps Wrexham make it through the National League play-offs.

well done him.

He deserves a bit of success after all his injury problems.

The fight for the play-offs will be fascinating. What is it? 1 from 6?

Let;s hope it is indeed a club nearby and not one hundreds of miles away. Wrexham, our erstwhile foes? Solihull? Salford?

Fylde v Harrogate Town and Wrexham v Eastleigh in the quarter-finals, then the winners of the first match play Solihull Moors and the winners of the second game play Salford City, then the winners play each other in the final. So unless it's Wrexham then we'll have a new team in the Football League.

Here is a nice map to show where each of these various clubs are:

Hopefully not Eastleigh basically!

I could see us taking a few to Solihull, Salford or Fylde as new grounds. I believe Ryan Boot has also had a reasonable season for Solihull, especially if they finished 2nd he can't have done bad. Bit of an ex Vale keepers love in, in the national league! I'm pleased they all have clubs and are doing well.

Solihull I think are having to make a few improvements to get their ground up to scratch should they make it.

I'd prefer Wrexham as it's like a home game for me but wouldn't mind Fylde or Solihull either.

If he'd stayed at Vale and managed to clock up 49 appearances he'd probably be due a testimonial.

Must admit a bit of a soft spot for Solihull. My daughters best friend who she works with her dad is Chairman. He used to own Oxford but sold them about 18months ago and bought Solihull. Had a great evenings hospitality when we played Oxford in the cup at Vale Park. I was a token Oxford director for the day. Still jumped up and cheered when we scored. Got a strange look from our Chairman. Come on Solihull.

As you will see from my location; in my case, I'm really hoping that Solihull make it through--it would be great for me to have such a localised visit from PV next season for me to attend and cheer on the lads without my usual 130 mile round-trip to Vale Park! Also, it looks very much like another 'local' trip to The Bescot stadium and Walsall next season.
