Our home record.

For Us All

Recommended Posts

I think there has been a major failure to identify a difference between our large pitch and many of the smaller pitches we play on away from home.

If a tactic works well once on a small pitch away from home we persist with it at home and when a tactic works at home we then persist with it away and wonder why the players can't replicate the one off performance in a completely different type of game.

Playing a narrow style seems a very strange option at Vale Park. Even if it is something the manager wants to persist we still have to provide a wide outlet when we have possession of the ball.

This has not just happened over night. We could probably join half a dozen current threads that all have 1 common denominator. His name is Norman Smuthwaite. I make no apologies to what some will see as this thread turning into another NS out thread, but you only get out what you put in and doing it on the cheap and cutting corners over the last 5 season is why we are where we are. Unfortunately as like most I fear the worst is yet to come by the end of the season, due to the fact of our current plight with no light at the end of the tunnel. You can not progress on loan after loan, chopping and changing not only of managers but players as well. Consistency breads confidence which in turn creates results. Its just a pity that a certain NS can not see or does not want to see this.

Our seven home defeats this season is only equalled by Morecambe in our league Rochdale,Bradford,Bristol Rovers,Oxford,Gillingham,Southend and Wimbledon,Bolton in the League One and Bolton and Reading in the Championship.

Newcastle and Huddersfield top the list with eight defeats each in the PL.

The pitch is no longer big. It's been taken in twice in recent seasons and is no bigger than many now.

We don't score goals because we have only one player in the squad who is a natural scorer - Pope.

Until we get another ten goal striker alongside him, a winger and a central miodfielder who can both chip in with 8-10, and a centre half who gets 6-8 off corners and free kicks then we'll struggle.

You cannot coach a player to score goals. It's an innate natural ability and only Pope in our entire squad has it.

Apart from Pope the only other one who had it was Eagles 18 months ago.

We've got one of the worst teams in our history. They struggle to create anything and most of them could not hit a barn door with a banjo.

Any team that lacks the initiative to take the game to the opposition will naturally struggle on their home turf.

All of our 8 league wins this season have been to nil, of which five were 1-0 wins.

Arsenal used to be proud of 1-0s because they had a very tight defence. However we cant say that, nor were they attractive to watch as a neutral.

Since Smurf decided to break a midtable league 1 side up, we've played 121 games, winning 31. We've played 61 homes games, winning 21. Played 60 away games winning 10. Absolute shambles of a club. Non league chairman, non league manager, non league players = non league football team..
