Our home record.

For Us All

Recommended Posts

The pitch is no longer big. It's been taken in twice in recent seasons and is no bigger than many now.

We don't score goals because we have only one player in the squad who is a natural scorer - Pope.

Until we get another ten goal striker alongside him, a winger and a central miodfielder who can both chip in with 8-10, and a centre half who gets 6-8 off corners and free kicks then we'll struggle.

You cannot coach a player to score goals. It's an innate natural ability and only Pope in our entire squad has it.

Apart from Pope the only other one who had it was Eagles 18 months ago.

We've got one of the worst teams in our history. They struggle to create anything and most of them could not hit a barn door with a banjo.

Messing with the pitch is totally unacceptable as far as I am concerned. The big pitch does make a difference because it leads to open games where defence is more difficult, no matter what the standard of teams.

This season we have been subject to the five centre halves approach, the hoof it in the clouds approach, the one forward approach and the pitch is a big deal in this context. This decision is so small minded and inconsiderate of the tradition its untrue.

Sage..... You know and I know that won't happen, the funds won't be made available our club is being stripped bare and it's to hell with the consequences.

If there are no signings this week I think that will confirm my suspicions.

Plenty of unwanted records at stake tonight.

1. If we fail to win,we will have gone nine league games without a home win for the first time ever.

2. If we lose,it will equal a club record dating back to 1992/93 of six successive home defeats.

3. If we do not score,it will equal a club record of six games without a goal, set last season.

4. If we fail to score before 48 minutes is up,we will set the record in minutes without a goal (currently 561).

Record breaker is our norm.

Poor home records are a general feature of this league, due to lack of creative quality in most teams when the onus is on the home side to be more pro active.

In fact in the 2007/8, over the whole season there were more away wins than home wins in the entire league season !

I think !

Shambolic home form. Is there anyone worse in the league?

QUALITY NOT QUANTITY next season required please. Don't know if it's been said before!

Retain:

Brown

Legge Smith

Worrall Joyce Manny Conlon

Pope

Maybe the two loanee full backs if available/possible.

Try to get rid of most of the rest and add some players of the required quality, especially up front and on the wings.

A squad of 22 players is about right, signed by the manager, backed by the new owners and supported by our loyal fanbase so we can be truly competitive against the likes of FGR, Cambridge, Crawley, Newport, Swindon, etc...

Agree Steve but have serious doubts about the 4 in midfield being regular starters. We lack a leader in midfield, we have no where near enough goals in there. I think we need a Sam Foley/ Micky Cummins character, possibly someone like Griff (defensively minded and desire) and x2 decent wingers. We are well short in all areas imo but would retain the players you list as part of a much smaller squad. Let's see because if Smurthwaite stays we are wasting our breath.
