Streete is a great player but no way will he reach the standard he did for us before the end of the season. Utterly stupid if we give him a wage now. It is unfair on him, he needs to join a club where he can get up to speed.

He hasn't played for 2yrs and no other club will gamble on him because of his knees I think it was.....these are clearly all smurf players

Replacing Pope is the biggest concern before Saturday.

Aspin in his latest interview saying hes not happy with the injury side of things, but won't elaborate further.

He also said the strikers were here to score goals, and they didn't do their job.

Well, maybe that's because we're more focused on developing kickers for the NFL, than trying to build up play and set up our strikers to score? Just a thought Neil... :banghead:

We could have a front three of Kane, Suarez and Salah, and they'd suffer to score with the 2nd floor hoof passes they get. But wahey, it's easiest just to take route 1 and blame the strikers, than looking at yourself and see if the way we play, could have anything to do with the matter.

I'd bet you Aspin couldn't put together a video of 3 chances every match, that one of our strikers should have scored.

So their scoring rate, pretty much matches our 'chances created' rate. Bloody abysmal!

BBC news

Port Vale have signed Nottingham Forest defender Adam Crookes on loan for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old can play either left-back or in a central defensive role.

He spent the first part of this season on loan at Lincoln City, but did not feature in a League Two match, having spent time at Guiseley last term.

"A natural left-footer in the defence is something we've not had and he'll compete for a place," Vale manager Neil Aspin told the club website.

He'll probably be right back then....note not played in league 2, so another Poundshop signing.

The lack of quality signings gets more concerning with every passing day, I just cannot believe Smurf hasn't learned from the last two Jan transfer windows, it's so frustrating.

I accept its "Not easy to get players in in Jan" but money helps and Vale have some and have to spend it. We've recently seen with Stoke U21's or whatever they were called that these younng lads are not ready for Lge 2 football hence Vale need seasoned professionals at this level and "quality" players that can go straight into the team and make a difference.

Mansfield have signed Jorge Grant and Nicky Ajose , both proven quality additions at this level and were playing on loan at Luton ( grant ) and charlton . Mansfield clearly looking to push on

But we are miles behind Mansfield in terms of the wages, the quality and the ambition.

Smurf and Aspin - these are players we should have looked at. Not crocks and non-league quality. Only one way to non-league for our Chairman. Then he will be a happy bunny.

Grant by the way has torn this division up in the last 18 months when at County

62 games

21 goals

All from midfield

The sort of player who is fantasy island to a club on it's backside like us.

Fair play to Mansfield, fit in nicely with Tyler Walker, Otis Khan and Craig Davies

As the article on the front page says - we need QUALITY additions, not youngsters, unproven chancers, non league hopefuls, unfit players who have missed pre-season, or players from division four of the Mongolian League.

We've been down this path before in the past 3 years and it's got us to the brink of oblivion.

I wish all our players well but nothing much will change if we don't get the wallet out and get some QUALITY in the team.

Pope's injury is a dagger through the heart. We can't afford to lose him for long.

Unless we sign 3-4 better players of proven quality at this level or above then we're going down. End of.

Sorry Norman, but if you expect me to do cartwheels because we've signed an unproven young lad who can't get a game for Lincoln, are looking at a player who is unfit and missed pre-season, and thinking about signing an unproven lad from some unknown club in the Spanish mountains then you'll be sorely disappointed.

Do us all a favour. Padlock the gates and turn off the lights. Under your ownership it's RIP Port Vale. Thanks a lot.

Couldn't agree more. Norman needs to spend big-time on a new manager and players but he won't. As the ship sinks below the water and the last bit of oxygen bubbles up Norman will still be saying I will prove you all wrong.
