Gibbons and Clark as the full-backs and we seem a lot stronger and get a good result. If only Aspin manages to avoid the temptation to play players out of position at full-backs we might be alright.

 

Seriously though, what possessed him to continually experiment and go for the square pegs in round holes philosophy for so long? Hopefully that's all in the last now.

a point is welcome but that wont alter aspins mindset and who was the stupid tawt who said we'd played well the last couple of games and should have got something out of them doesn't the tewell know that you don't get style points or points for artistic impression in league football my god it's like the bloody crazy gang or the bowery boys.

 

Think you will find the backroom staff think they have played well and should have got more from the games. Most of the fans think it has not been good enough.

 

What will Smurf do over the next couple of days. Oh that will be nothing and he still wont look at the managers out of work list either - just in case.

On a more general note, these late game saving goals we’ve scored this season tells me that players are trying and playing for Aspin. Yet talk is that he had “lost” the dressing room.

 

I offer that if Aspin had “lost” the dressing room, the effort put into saving games late on would not happen.

As I stated before I did not attend this one. Anyone who thinks Aspin can change on the basis of one good result, is insane. We've experienced what kind of manager he is and he's had PLENTY of time and opportunities to show fans hope and belief. He's failed to do either in my eyes. Legend of a player, yes. Manager and the one to take us further, no. Sorry but I will not change my mind after 1 good result. Smurf needs now to get rid and get a man in who will galvanize the Club and fans.

Soon as Lincoln went 1-0 up a bloke behind me kept saying this is **** Vale, Aspin out etc. Well up yours you absolute weapon. Yes its probably papering over the cracks, but some fans would of bin happy if we lost today..idiots. Even Lincoln fans after game saying we deserved that draw..

Good performance, midfield turned up, frustrating to concede from their only corner. Good control throughout, lotsof good possession without peppering shots in on goal first half. We made them look average and they had to take Rhead off as he was a high risk of getting sent off. Manny owed us a good performance and delivered. Most encouraging aspect was lack of hoofing and looking comfortable on the ball. Night and day compared to Grimsby and Oldham.

At least 2 seasons to get some serious improvement required by anyone.

Real mixed feelings about that Aspin interview. It's not a nice situation and thankfully it sounds like he isn't prepared to let it get worse and/or drag on for much longer.

I’m asking myself why there was such a contrast in Peformance today versus the last 5/6 games? Is it because a new potential manager was in the stands? Was it because the players knew Aspin had received the ultimatum from Smurf? (Lose and you’re gone) did Aspin share this with the players? Did the players prepare better? Has Aspin seen the light and realized (certainly for this game) how much of an idiot he has been in team selections and tactics?

 

Very odd - suggests to me either which way up, he’s not the man for the job

We all wanted Aspin.

 

It's very easy to stick the boot in on Smurf over this one, but he took advice from Rudge and Adams and appointed an experienced manager who immediately galvanised the fans.

 

It's a thankless task if Aspin does go...I dare say there isn't a stand out realistic candidate available and so he's instantly going to upset people whoever he appoints.
