Brian Little would be absolutely hilarious in a sadistic, Gannon part II-type way.

It would prove, once and for those remaining osterichs burying their collective heads in the sand, that Gormless Smugthwaite knows absolutely f..k all about running a football club and that we'll be starting next season in the conference.

I want to know why he can't just tell us either who it is or what day he will release the information. His little game of tweets just ignites the flames and then he can't understand why he gets abuse.

Probably because he hasn’t got a clue himself.

He loves to play with supporters emotions.

That is obviously a joke.....He doesnt want to pay out for a quality manager never mind taking two wages on.

Why a joke? We had Brown and two coaches under him in Morgan and Kelly, so why not a manager and 1st team coach. Who's a quality manager all the top ones we would pick have failed at some stage. Every management choice is a risk by any owner never mind Smurth. Everton and Keoman? Palace and De Boer, now Hodgson! Vale fans will only smash whoever it is anyway as they will never be happy. Anyone can organise this team to better performances than we have seen, let's give whoever it is support cause if we don't support Smurth and new guy we will go down anyway, think some on here want that!

If Brian Little is one of Norman's three exceptional candidates, we are in serious trouble.

His win ratio looks impressive (40.5%) but most of his success was in his early career. His last professional league club was Wrexham in 2007-08, which makes even Ince and Horton's experience look recent, and Wrexham were relegated to the Conference in his first season. His win ratio there was 21.9%, similar to Brown's, and he won only 7 games in 32 in the season they lost their league status. He then failed to get them back into the league.

After that, he's only managed Gainsborough Trinity and Jersey, leaving Jersey in May 2016.

As with a few others then, just the kind of manager we don't want.

1 you don't need to worry as he's been involved behind the scenes at Villa for a number of years.

2 The only times he was really unsuccessful was West Bromwich and then Wrexham, but Wrexham were dead and buried when he took over.

He's been a decent manager in all 4 leagues and clearly would be a strong candidate if interested. Harder to see why he would be interested as he's on the payroll at Villa, so it would just be a load of grief for a pay cut.

Its a joke because right now we'll be lucky to get aspin as manager. There is absolutely zero chance he would come to us as a coach. Why would he choose a demotion?

I'm not surprised by this. I understand Brian Little was very close to getting the job previously as DOF with a young coach under him.

Yep, I'm certain he was one of the three so-called "outstanding candidates" last summer when Ribeiro got the job. (think he was 'Candidate 1' if people look back to when and how Smurthwaite described each of them).

He would be an utter joke of an appointment but it wouldn't be in the least bit surprising from that clueless clown.

Yes, failed utterly at West Brom (win ratio 19.5%) and at Wrexham (win ratio 21.9%), since when no league club has appointed him (and that was 2007-08). How would he be a strong candidate with that record? So no worries, if he's not coming!
