I spoke to a friend who is very knowledgeable about non-league stuff and his initial response re Aspin was that he's "a terrible appointment unless you've got a pot of gold to give him". He went on to say

 

At Harrogate he missed out on the playoffs a few years in a row with a decent budget and then quit when the board wouldn't give him more

 

At Fax he took them from the league Alty are in now to the Conference, which was expected for a club their size, then had an awful spell and got sacked.

 

Now at Gateshead, who have other advantages (geography, loan potential) he's missing out on the playoffs.

 

He's never had a proper relegation scrap, nor been at a team likely to be in one, apart from his last season at the Shay where he was sacked in September

I've not seen it myself but apparently one of today's papers is reporting that John Sheridan is being targeted for the job.

 

(the same paper also reports that Preston want £12M for Hugill in January).

Which is a mistake in itself, the club should have had targets. Most clubs have an idea of people before one person leaves.

Are Kelly and Morgan still here? Why? They should have gone with Brown as all 3 are truly clueless and zilch has changed since Brown was shown the door. Smurf SHOULD have had a line up of targets well before he ditched Brown anyway. Yet another failing of his to prove he has absolutely NO IDEA how to run a Football Club and as long as he is here we are in no mans land.

I've now seen the article and it actually states that "Sheridan is in the frame and is emerging as a late runner". It also states that Horton and Westley have been linked.

That should sort the players out and get their respect. He’ll threaten them with a day in his allotment
