Policing of PVFC - Chairman's Statement

Memphis

Recommended Posts

A few stewards with go pros in front of the paddock corner would be a deterrent to some of the unsavoury behaviour.

Also think the Hamil car park having some form of fencing is a good idea.

As a fanbase we also need to be brave enough to discourage the behaviour by reporting it, and to be honest putting pressure on those involved to desist by making it clear that such behaviour is not welcome at Vale games, home and away.

I agree with Smurf 100%, we don't want the small % of idiots. He's also questioning the number of Police at games hence the cost of policing and the categorization of games. Safety of the fans is a priority and shouldn't be compromised but reading between the lines he considers the Police are over reacting with numbers to some extent and also charging Vale for Policing outside the footprint of Vale Park., Port Vale F C should be seen as a cash cow for Staffordshire Police.

There wasn't far off the amount of police today for Wolves at home. About 20 Doncaster 'lads'/'kids' got taken from Stoke station to the Roebuck and required 2 riot vans, a car and a shed load of officers outside and eventually be escorted up. Add that to them being scattered all around Burslem and all up Hamil Road, no wonder Norm has kicked off, I can imagine the bill being sky high.

For those who don't know, Norm was outside the away end Im guessing keeping an eye on what was going on, and can hopefully hammer the OB for what was a money wasting overload.

Intelligence my ****.

I'm not normally critical of the police, but today was ridiculous in terms of their numbers. Smurf has every right to be angry. Why on earth were there so many coppers for such a measly following and why on earth do we have to pick up the bill for all those police and their vehicles outside the Roebuck and Chambers?

Where were the police from anyway, they certainly weren't local, judging by there accents, covered up badges and red arm-bands.

Today was certainly an excercise in trying to justify the increased police bill. The Doncaster fans must feel really special in having their own individual policeman today. Pathetic waste of our money and police resource.

Norman was stood on the car park after the game with the police watching them do absolutely nothing. There was two of them today stood eating Wrights pies for **** sake. Pay them nowt. If that handful of school kids was their 'intelligence' it should have taken one of them to deal with. They were everywhere all day. Absolute farce. Clueless.

Add to that, that throughout the game the police were watching / filming Vale fans all through the game and never looked at the Donny fan's.

I was told that some police had come from Tamworth.
