  1. Easy to be blasé... more difficult to make a difference to people's lives who really need it like these people at Vale are trying to do.

  2. Should have done. Should have 6 points for getting a game abandoned. Weak EFL, and now set a precedent.

  3. There’s a lot of talk of Loft’s bottom in this thread. Not a complaint; just an observation.

  7. Wasnt saying we havent backed them my point was more that now more than ever we can try make a difference. Attendances have been dropping and rightly so for what weve been put through this season people have lost hope. But a little bit of hope returned Saturday. We all need to come together as one

  9. For the new recruitment arrangements we put in place now, it's crucial that the Manager is involved and has the final say (subject to Owner's budgets of course). Whatever you or I might think of Flitcroft the individual, the set-up we had under him was clearly unsuitable for a Club of our size and stature. However, there does have to be one person in charge of all things to do with the playing side, so for Vale, the Manager should be providing his wish list and ultimately deciding who is signed based on the recommendations of the recruitment team.

  10. Given that I will be going to four of the last games including aways at Northampton and Peterborough, I hope we get a few wins and pull away. I’ve seen enough defeats this season!

  11. Looking at Bristol Rover's form they haven't scored in the last 3 games and conceded 8. So we mustn't help them out with one of our free gifts. They drew 0-0 at Fleetwood but lost 5-0 at Lincoln. I will discount losing 3-0 at home to Derby because they are a much bigger club as we have found. But I feel Bristol have done what we should have been doing overall which is chug away winning and losing and reach safe mid table. They aren't going to get promoted or relegated and we should have more fire in our bellies. But we must respect they are capable of beating us if we do reckless stuff at both ends of the pitch, so I'm hoping Darren Moore can bring his experience to produce a telling balanced performance that sees us win by a couple of goals without conceding. I don't mind if the second comes in the 93rd minute from a breakaway after Bristol put all 11 men in our box trying to score from their 15th corner. Ryan Loft surely fancies a goal against his former club and should be steaming round the pitch etc.

  12. Just bought my ticket. Could do with Barnsley beating Cambridge, us beating The Gas, Wigan stuffing Burton, Peterborough beating Carlisle and Cheltenham-Fleetwood drawing. If we put in another good shift and work hard for each other, I dont care if Loft scores a hat trick where they all go in off his arse - and we get the results above it will start to make others very nervous.

  13. This game is certainly winnable but make no mistake they are no mugs! They have turned us over quite a few times. Just hope we can edge it.

  14. Haven't read a lot of the thread so apologies if I'm repeating anything, I think the fact we have staff who were "supporting" Flitcroft I assume with the "donkey work" on stats/scouting etc on potential signings can still prove useful? Can they not report to Moore with their findings then he makes the overall decision on whether we try and sign said player? Then when it comes to thrashing out the financials if it's more complicated obviously someone higher up the chain in the club Carol/Kevin whoever would have to be involved in discussions. Obviously something somewhere in the "process" has been going wrong under Flitcroft so clearly that needs ironing out by the club moving forward!

  18. I may be way off the mark but seemed to me on all highlights I've watched is that the dismissal /resignation of flitcroft who I liked to be honest ,gave the players (all im hearing )that new lease of energy commitment there were 3 players trying get ball of that Burton player for winning goal ,was it Massey who won it anyway loft and Chislett ran like the wind it was a fantastic finish and as Will Ferrrel said on the best video I saw of the goal oh my g-d it's Beautiful. Dipepa has scored 3 in 2 Uche who to me is a fine player yes a bit cumbersome when the ball sticks to him it sticks and he surely going slam some noteworthy goals in . Home form been a disgrace for a long time though Good Fri be a good time start a winning sequence going ,at home as that's what sells season tickets not away performances which bar Fleetwood Derby have been ok and generally good at times . Homes being garbage no other way dress it up people don't pay for a away season ticket as me Stoke loving colleagues would love if they did as they all have a great time away at home there a shambles also . So play up Vale and delight your own not once 1 four times required before season ends. UTV

  21. 50 years ago but now not a chance, although I can trap a ball when I sit down these days. Always remember running onto the Vale pitch after the last game of the season when I was about 12 years old and looking from the center circle to the Bycars Road goal and it seemed miles away.

  25. I think 48 will do it this year, possibly 47. So 3 wins and 2 or 3 draws, or 4 wins. A win on Friday would be massive ahead of away games. If we could sneak a win out of one of Northampton or Wigan, both teams with not much to play for, that would leave us with trying to win 2 of our last 4. Not impossible but our form has to change dramatically.

  26. Last season Cambridge had 30 points from 37 games We had 44 from 37 They beat us They won 5 and drew 1 of their last 9 Ended on 46 points and stayed up We ended on 49 We are currently on 36 from 38 It is possible....

  28. What a terrible season its been on and off the pitch. But somehow after yesterdays win we are in with a sniff of pulling off a miracle the only way i think we can get ourselves out of this is if we pack the park. Our last home games are all winnable and i think if we were to win them wed stay up. Id like the club to offer cheaper tickets to get bums on seats. Its the start of a new dawn flitcroft is gone although left in position far to long weve all finally got our wishes. Bring family/mates along lets do our bit to push the lads on . They showed fight and passion yesterday lets get vale park rocking for the first time since the hamil switch. I truly believe if we do it can give the players that extra bit in terms of belief to try and get us over the line. we have been fantastic this season considering what weve been put through this season but now is the time to put that all to bed and create some noise in the right way. We are all vale. We all want league one next year. Lets help achieve this.

  29. Need to have a clear mentality of what's required. Season starts at home Fri. I'm sure there's a lot of folk who are because of what been subjected to mainly in home games since Jan 23, who are like myself at present not sure if a season ticket is worthwhile having . The Players have 4 X 90 to convince me part with my hard earned coin as walking me daughters dog is free, and enjoyable , and going a national Trust only about 180 quid a year and there's many you can go and have a active happy day with no stress and lots to do to keep ones soul happy . So like I say you can buy the shirts you can go the games but you got to get some enjoyment out of doing so . Years ago a few pre match pints didn't really bother me losing as long as saw they were going at it not giving in, playing to win all game ,I haven't seen that this season and quite frankly overall we will do well stay in league thats not negative that's truth . Watching sober is something else its so poor lad at work said it was such a rubbish game v Burton said Vale deserved win but it was such a horrible game . 8 more of those comments sat Tues(Fri and Mon) ill take . Season starts now . Everything to play for . In my mind we have to approach all remaining games positively. It's 11 v 11 that's all Might get 6000 home fans be a big ask get more because of past home performances ,that's why they should reduce and if still wanted folk pay more then just reduce for hamil Do a trial one in there make a offer if buy in next 24 hrs 10 pounds Adult 18/100 If after 24 hrs 12 pounds Keep putting it up every day till matchday and share the living daylights out of it Most folk buy at the cheapest price and instead of not attending that's 2500 at 10 pounds more in say Hamil . More atmosphere more encouraging more likely inspire players. That's what I'd do but I'm not in the sales department

  30. 100% this. I'd entertain Foyle as a candidate for DOF (why not), but think we should be doing due diligence anyway and considering others too. He wouldn't be my first choice (I don't have a first choice), as I'm not particularly won over by the past connection link. That alone is reason enough for me to run 100 miles in the other direction. Will say holding his time as manager in recruitment against him, is particularly harsh though. This is almost 20 years ago now. I just hope though that Carol's spent her time networking well over the past few years, there should be people in mind already based on her connections built in that time. If we're still at square one in that regard then it's more than a bit worrying. I just hope whatever structure and plan going forward, that the club are confident in it, and it works.

  33. Martin Foyle was a star as a player and is a star as a person, a genuine Vale legend who is always welcome at the club. But the suggestion that "Martin Foyle would be a good head of recruitment" either wasn't around for the 2007-2008 season or has wiped it from their memory. Sorry to make people relive the pain, but have a read about the recruitment for that season ... 2007–08 Port Vale F.C. season - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG

  36. I will be delighted if we can take it to the last game v Cambridge, and still have the possibility of League 1 football in our own hands. I suspect that this is the best we can hope for.

  39. If we replicate yesterdays performance, we have every chance in picking up maximum points. I don’t know what kind of stranglehold that Flitcroft had over all of this. Date I say he was way too involved in picking the team. But it seemed yesterday that the players were playing with freedom and belief. And that energy goes over to the fans as well. Now let’s follow it up.

  41. Thats what was so pleasing to see.The fight from the whole team was there. Has been missing big style for many weeks. Hard to single out anyone but Smith and Loft were teriffic. Little bit of confidence now, first for a long time. A win on Friday would be fantastic for us fans. Just think what it would do for the players...

  46. I cannot remember slagging him off have you got me mixed up with someone else Every match I attend I encourage every player . In all years of watching Vale never followed players on Instagram never made a comment on there performances to there family or friends as that doesn't achieve anything . A comment on a forum means nowt it's just a place to discuss your clubs plight ,players what you have witnessed performances and praise or disdain for what they have produced. So I'd wind your neck in if I was you fella .

  48. If this game doesn’t end with a Ryan Loft breakaway and smashing it home in front of the Hamil what are we even doing?? Just got to go according to the DC mantra of one game at a time. Apply the same grit and determination they showed today and we have a shout.
