  1. It seems we’re still deep in ‘process-mode’. Every signing has to be at a value, outsmarting everyone else to fit the ‘tactical, physical, technical, and psychological profile”. It has to be data-driven and a chance for the DoF to be the smartest in the room. We seem to have had someone in and decided not to sign them. Sometimes, all that needs to go and you just bring a body in for an inflated wage and a survival bonus. Someone the manager knows, or someone that comes recommended. This obsession with refusing to pay market value, in finding undervalued gems misses the point that often you just need the obvious best fit and the inflated price they command. Not every signing has to be a Garrity or a Hall. Often, you just need Lee Hughes, Darren Purse, even a Chris Eagles. The obsession with doing things in this process-way is likely going to cost us a place in this league. I genuinely think 10 randomly selected OVF posters would be doing a better job.

  2. There are but like a lot of free agents, he hasn't played for months (last game Sept) and is recovering from injury. I suspect Pompey have added him to provide competition/depth and are not desperate for 90 mins from him. The difference with our situation is that since the window closed we've needed players who can start right away and most free agents are short of match fitness. It's a chicken and egg situation - if you've got a well balanced squad like Pompey you can afford to take on a free agent "chancer" to potentially boost your squad. If you've got a threadbare squad like Vale then free agents aren't really much use as most of them will need some time to get fit and by then the season is going to be nearly over. It's why the decision to not bring in any sort of striker (and LWB) in the window was complete madness and showed the club hasn't learnt at all from their previous transfer window failings.

  3. I’m afraid Carol has painted herself into a corner with the open letter, if she changed her mind now she would look extremely foolish, is she a big enough person to do that, I’m not sure she is. It never ceases to amaze me how highly intelligent & successful people completely lose their minds when owning a football club. The biggest mistake she had made is treating “Flickers” as a friend instead of an employee, people like him are only ever after themselves. Just hope we don’t end up like Bury. All we can do as supporters is continue to let our feelings be known until she comes to her senses and be there to help the club when she does.

  4. At this point we should have rolled the dice on anyone. It’s been a month. If we signed someone a week after the window shut they’d be coming off the bench by now and not far from a start. Whatever they cost, relegation will cost substantially more. An unfit forward is better than the options we currently have. Again, the DoF seems to be trying to outsmart the market without just accepting we’re in a mess and taking the hit. A forward should have been here weeks ago. Anyone.

  6. I think I'm done for this season. It's been awful and two people are responsible. Flitcroft is robbing a wage, and I'm sorry to say this, but CS has totally lost her way. The main point of the club is to try to have a successful team and we couldn't be further from that if we tried. If next season starts with the same regime running the show then I'm off to Congleton or similar.

  7. A month past the window closing and still no free agents. Your telling me there is nobody available that could improve us currently. They are just sitting back letting us go down. Nothing from them. Why?

  8. We are trying to stay up with the only striker in our squad being a 17 year old. It is honestly mind boggling how we have ended up in this position. It is unforgivable

  12. She doesn’t need to sell up. She needs to wake up. It will happen and Flitcroft will get fired. Sadly it will take time to understand that she’s been controlled.

  14. Derby have more money than us. They are more appealing than us. That’s just the sorry truth. Using my analogy, at least come back with 5 good steaks! Minimum. I will tell you now, Ryan Loft and Uche are on a combined 7000 pounds a week. Roughly. That’s a huge amount of money to throw down the drain on happy shopper beans.

  15. If I had 200 quid and told you that I want some good quality food and I said that YOU are in charge of sorting that for me, and you came back with processed crap cheap tinned rubbish, should I sell up my business or sack YOU?

  16. Nonsense. The quality of the squad is a direct correlation of the money spent on it by her. If Flitcroft had blown loads of money in expensive flops, fair enough but Carol has bankrolled a squad, despite previous record attendances, cheaper than anything under Smurfwaite.

  17. 6 points adrift!!! We have no hope we wont get another win this season never mind staying up 😂😂😂😂i sit here in utter disbelief at what im watching this. This team is genuinely non league. I dont want to lay into them as its really not there fault but the fact that sharrock and dipepa are playing in our fight for survival really shows the negligence and utter incompetence in our dof and carol. They have allowed this to happen. Delusional about it all . Its not in our vocabulary. Everything is fine!! They gave up in January! Its laughable honestly. Not a single decent signing in jan. No players brought in for the positions we were desperate for. I cannot believe it. All the constant hard work by flickers and recruitment and this is what they came up with???

  19. I think some people are concerned about the backroom setup because despite all the rhetoric it doesn't seem to be producing results on the pitch now. Also, money is money and can only be spent once regardless of the cost centre it is taken from. Not to mention the fact that money has been misspent on the playing side too. Just my opinion of course.

  22. He was and he would but we would only be able to sign players who wanted to come to us. Do you think he would have come to us instead of Derby even if we had the money or more? Given the choice of a team pushing for promotion in front more than 25,000 fans every other week and team struggling to survive in a league in front of <8000 people I know where I’d prefer to play irrespective of the money on offer.

  28. Well the problem here is that the money that you have is not enough for quality food. The quality food is £500 and that’s why I came back with cheap, processed crap. You can sack me, to use your analogy but if quality simply costs more, it won’t happen regardless of who is employed. That’s why I would sell up, because I don’t have the money to fund a quality product. That’s why an out of contract striker like Dwight Gayle was seen ultimately scoring for Derby today. We could never afford a player like that.

  29. I agree, he is a complete tosser. He does not care about vale fans suffering. Problem is what do we do that wont hurt the club. Carol is usless, has not got a clue football wise.

  32. we are a recent arrived first div. club, we haven't got a billion-air owner - to bankroll us, and we are top heavy in back room staff, hence being championship ready but we are only first div. and now struggling to stay in the first div. As for flitcroft and his staff monitoring players they might be but where are these players? we've needed players to improve our team in 3 windows, there was the lone players who did well for us but had to go back, as RZ's said there's only so much money in the pot its not going on players, its not going on the ground ie the toilets in the Railway paddock 3 months of porta loo's up to date really? Hamill's toilets the other week a leak, closed for a match... but we are championship ready and the back-room staff are in place, all ready for the second div.

  34. We’ve picked up three points on three occasions in the last 6 months. Let that sink in. What sane supporting fan actually thinks we can get out of this? And any fan who bangs on about supporting the lads. The 12th man. All that crap. They’re delusional. Derby will batter us.

  37. Plus we have the likes of Burton, Fleetwood, Cheltenham and Cambridge distorting the markets by bringing in multiple strikers in January. It's just not fair.

  38. I believe he was a big striker. If we've decided he is no use to us then he probably needs to think about what he wants to do as a career as it surely won't be playing football.

  39. Its hard to judge Moore on this, he has literally nothing to work with... 17 year old youth player and Ryan Loft who's destroyed confidence wise. No wide men or full backs No workable central defensive partnership, (whatever combination we try it doesnt seem to work). No midfield. I will judge him next season when he has his own players in but I doubt even Pep or Klopp could turn this around.
